Chapter 38: Fey
The Fenrir looked at him, slightly confused. "You want me to act as a guardian for you?" he asked, hitting straight to the point.
Raze nodded instantly. "Yes, that’s all," Raze replied.
"And for that, you are willing to give me food and also help me search for my people?" the Fenrir asked.
"Yes, I know I don’t have much to offer, but I’ll do my best to make sure that you have the best of food and everything that you could possibly want," Raze said.
"No, what you have to offer is more than enough. Normally, I wouldn’t believe what you said, but I can’t sense even the slightest ill will from you, human," he said, then stretched out his paw.
"Give me your hand. We will form a bond, a contract that, as long as you keep your side of the bargain, I’ll keep mine," the Fenrir said.
Raze looked at the paw, the extremely sharp, metallic-looking claws. He swallowed hard and took a step forward. He stretched out his hand and touched the paw of the Fenrir, and instantly, there was a bright light, a glow that warmed Raze’s body.
When the light finally died down, Raze looked up, expecting to see the Fenrir, but instead, what stood there was a young man no older than Raze.
He had white, luscious hair, deep silver eyes, and an extremely beautiful face, and that was saying a lot, considering he was male.
Somehow, he had on a silver jacket and pants, fancy-looking clothes that would easily make him stand out.
Raze stared at him. "What the hell?" He couldn’t help himself and asked.
The Fenrir smiled and looked at his body. He looked at Raze. "You like my new form, huh?"
"What the hell just happened? How are you looking so young? What the hell is happening?" Raze asked.
"Oh, that. I basically reconstructed my structure with you as my template. This form would be much easier for me to walk around," he said.
"I have a lot of issues. First, how? And second, why is your way of speaking suddenly different? You sound much, much different, even the way you speak," Raze said. He looked at the Fenrir closely, trying to observe everything about him.
"Indeed, I used you as my blueprint, and so even my speaking changed a lot," he said as he stretched his body. "As for how the change happened, it takes years of practice to master and is popular amongst powerful beasts.
"I have been searching for my people, how do you think I could enter human settlements?" he asked.
A look of realization formed on Raze’s face. "Ohh, I never really thought about it. But if that was the case, isn’t there a chance that the other Fenrir are hiding like you?" Raze asked.
"Again with this ’hiding’ word," the Fenrir said. He walked up to Raze and placed his hand on his shoulder. "We Fenrir can sense each other, so if they were close, I would easily sense them. Unless they are hidden very well, then I won’t be able to," he said and then left Raze.
"Hmmm, I like this form. It makes me more free and expressive," he said and kept checking himself out.
"For someone that claimed to use me as the blueprint, you went ahead and made yourself more good-looking than me," Raze said.
"Hmmm, I just went for what was optimal, human. You humans are very superficial. As Fenrir, we believe in strength, not beauty," he said.
"I find that hard to believe when your entire race is made majestic," Raze said.
"Indeed, as divine beasts, we are all made like that," he said.
’This dude... since he transformed, he’s more easygoing, but also a bit more eccentric. The issue now is how I explain this to Ella and Elaine. Tsk, I’ll just have to be as truthful as I can be , but also careful,’ Raze thought.
"Since you now have a human form, let’s head out and into the town," Raze said.
"Hmm, alright. I have nothing here after all," he said and started walking ahead.
"Wait, Sir Fenrir, I can’t call you that name outside. What do you think I should refer to you as?" Raze asked.
The Fenrir stopped. He thought for a few seconds and then turned. "My real name works, Fey," he said and kept walking.
’Fey? That definitely sounds like a female name... well, that’s not my place to say,’ Raze thought and followed behind.
When they made it to the main part of the cave, the men rushed toward him. "Young master, young master, we found a lot of ores!" they said in celebration and joy — but then they spotted Fey standing there and all stopped.
They had never seen this person before, and they were certain that he had not come in with them. So who the hell was he?
"Young master?" one asked, looking at Fey.
"Uhm, this is Fey. You’ll respect him as much as you respect me, or I’ll cut all your benefits. Do you understand?" Raze asked.
The moment they heard that, they all bowed their heads a full ninety degrees.
"We greet the young master Fey!" they said in unison.
Raze’s face twisted instantly. "Huhhhhhhh! You lot have never bowed that way to me! You know what? Screw the benefits, the five of you aren’t getting paid today," Raze said.
The men’s faces instantly went grim. They all fell at his feet and immediately started begging.
"Young master, please!"
"Young master, I have a son, please!"
Raze looked down, a grin formed on his face. The men looked up. They knew that grin, the evil grin of the young master. It instantly sent shivers down their backs.
"Fine. Then you’ll all work an extra hour every day for a week. That’s fine, right?" he asked, though it wasn’t really a question.
They all nodded without choice.
Fey looked at them. "I like these humans. They are pretty entertaining," he said.
’Entertaining? Screw you, you’re the cause of this,’ they all thought.
