Chapter 40: The Office
Raze walked into the manor compound and toward the knights, and they instantly gripped their swords. "Who are you?" one barked at him.
Raze gave him a look that asked, Are you dumb? He turned back and looked at the guards at the gate, then at the knight.
"If the guards of the manor recognize me enough to let me in, shouldn’t that mean I belong here? Or is there no brain behind that helmet?" Raze asked.
The knight heard that, and his anger rose, bubbling and about to burst.
"But for your stupid brain to understand, I am Raze, son of the Baron. This is my house, the place you all are so graciously stopping me from entering," he spoke in a sharp and provocative tone.
The knight couldn’t take it anymore and pulled his sword. "I am the knight of Viscount Leon! I’ll cut you down and say you posed a threat to the Viscount," the knight said.
"Whoa, lying in broad daylight? Pitiful," Raze replied. This angered the man even more, seeing that Raze didn’t pay him heed even after he used the name of the Viscount.
The other knights also stood beside him, pulling their swords in anger and pointing them forward. "You must apologize for disrespecting the Viscount, or else you will be punished!" he barked.
"Uhm, when can I get the food?" Fey suddenly leaned over and asked Raze.
"Well, we have an issue now, so that’s on hold," Raze replied.
"Huh? No, no, no, no! I’ve waited enough,.you promised me delicacies!" Fey said.
’This body is making his character childish,’ Raze thought.
"If you want it faster, then help me deal with the issue faster," Raze said and glanced at the knights, letting Fey know what to do.
Fey looked at the knights, he understood, and immediately stepped forward.
"Hold it! Take one more step, and I’ll cut you down this instant!" the knight roared, but Fey kept walking. So the knight attacked, he raised his sword and slashed down.
Fey stood there watching the sword come down, and just at the last moment, he stepped to the side and dodged the blade with ease. It moved in extreme slow motion before his eyes.
"Too slow," he muttered and grabbed the arm, twisted it. The knight spun and slammed into the ground headfirst, his sword hitting the ground.
The other knights saw this, and in anger, they immediately rushed at Fey. Fey took a step back, analyzed their position, then kicked up the first knight’s sword and kicked it again.
It shot through the air and spun, the base slammed right into the head of one knight, denting his helmet heavily and knocking him back.
Then he pushed forward, dodged a slash, grabbed the hand, spun the knight around, and threw him into the next knight.
He proceeded to knee one knight in the gut, denting his armor heavily and throwing him back. The last two attacked—he dodged, grabbed their heads, and slammed them into each other.
He turned and looked at Raze. "Can we eat now?" he asked.
"Not yet, we still have to finish the issue," Raze said and walked past, not even bothering to look at the people on the ground.
"You humans have way too many issues," Fey said as he followed behind.
Raze walked into the house and headed straight for the stairs, then straight to his father’s office. But outside, his three brothers stood there, each one with their arms folded and a worried expression on their faces.
They turned when Raze got there. Andrew immediately frowned. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
"I’m here to do what you can’t, fix the issue," Raze replied and walked to the door, but Andrew stretched out his hand and blocked Raze.
Raze turned his head, looking Andrew right in the eye. "What the hell do you think you’re about to go and do in there?" Andrew asked, his brows furrowed. He didn’t even try to hide his anger at Raze.
"I already said it, I’m here to do what you all have failed to do," Raze said, but Andrew wasn’t budging; his arms stood firm.
"Father is inside there fighting for the survival of the entire barony. You should go back and keep playing developer like you’ve been doing for the last few days," Andrew said.
"Playing developer? It’s far more than you’ve done, isn’t it?" Raze asked, and those words stabbed right into Andrew’s heart. He grabbed Raze by the shirt and pulled him in.
"Stop it, Andrew," Riker barked. His voice shocked everyone because he was the one who barely spoke, so it made everyone freeze.
"Are you siding with Raze now? He almost took away your spot at Raven Academy!" Andrew said.
"No, he didn’t. He only showed what skills he had, and it earned him his spot. And besides, I still have my spot.
In the last few weeks, Raze has done what none of us have been able to do in years, he brought the people relief, gave them jobs, and made manor connections.
If there’s anyone fit to be inside that meeting with Father, then it’s him, regardless of how you feel about it," Riker said.
Andrew grew infinitely angrier; he was about to turn on Riker as well, but Michael spoke. "It’s fine, bro. We’re already on a decline, and we know it. Father is fighting the inevitable at this point, and we can’t do anything to help. Then let’s allow Raze to do what he can," Michael said.
Michael was the only sibling that Andrew listened to because they were extremely close. Andrew drew a deep breath and dropped his hands, allowing Raze to pass. He still looked at him in anger, but he did nothing to stop him.
Raze opened the door and walked in, leaving the others outside.
"Uhhh, who is he?" Michael finally asked as he pointed at Fey. He had wanted to since he saw him.
