Chapter 67: Yin Qi
The moment the attackers saw the lady, they all bowed their heads to her. She stood there at the center of them and slowly moved her hair to the side, revealing most of her face. Her eyes were multiple colors, one completely white and the other completely black. She looked like something that wasn’t meant to be human.
"I told him that one kid didn’t need my attention, and yet he still forced me. Tsk, if not for the favor I owed..." she muttered. She glanced at where Raze landed and then where Gavin landed. "They aren’t dead? Pretty resilient. I should finish off the target first."
She began walking toward Raze, her steps light, almost like she wasn’t walking at all.
Raze’s eyes opened. Everything was a blur. Pain filled his body, and he could barely move. He gritted his teeth and tried to move his hand, but it was barely responsive.
"You should be happy that you’re still alive. I intended to end you quickly," the lady said as she walked toward him.
Raze could barely see her. His eyes still burned from the powder, and he wasn’t using God’s Eye at the moment. But he understood that if he didn’t do something now, he would end up dead.
At least his mind still worked. He began thinking of a way out. He tried channeling his Qi, it filled his body, but it could barely do anything. The pure form of Qi had no real structure and only allowed him to get stronger. If he had a way to fine-tune the Qi more, he could force his muscles to work for him.
’Wait, fine-tune... fine-tune it. That means a special Qi structure. If I have that, I might be able to move. The Yin and Yang sword technique, the Yin uses the Qi of night, and the Yang, the Qi of day.
The Qi of night is more fine-tuned than my normal Qi. If I channel that, I can move. But the book said taking one Qi without the second is dangerous... Tsk, I have no choice.’
He came to a decision. When he had read deeper, he had understood this concept.
He shut his eyes and took a deep breath. His lungs felt like they would collapse on themselves; the pain was crippling, but he had to do it. He calmed himself and started channeling the Qi again, but this time, he did his best to fine-tune it. He tuned into the frequency of the Yin Qi the same way he had gathered Qi in the first place. The Yin Qi was more active at this time due to it being night.
The lady paused when she felt something was wrong. She looked at Raze with her brows raised. "What are you doing?" she asked. "Doesn’t matter either way, let’s finish this," she said as she kept walking.
Raze kept pushing. His body felt an immense cold unlike anything he had faced before, but the Qi allowed him to move. He got on his feet slowly, shocking the lady. His breath released cold fog, and his skin was turning pale fast.
"How are you doing that?" she asked.
"It doesn’t matter to you," he said and then stretched out his hand, using Flame Stream.
He was met with a huge wave of pain because he used a fire-based attack while fully channeling Yin Qi. The pain was immense; he gritted his teeth and kept at it.
The flames engulfed the lady, covering all her lines of sight and giving Raze enough space to run. Immediately, he bolted, running as fast as he could, and even while he ran, the cold in his body kept growing. His running couldn’t generate any heat inside him.
The flames died down, and the lady stood there unharmed, but rather with a smile on her face. She turned and locked onto the escaping Raze.
"You aren’t going anywhere, kid," she said, and without casting a spell, a huge blast of wind threw her up into the air, high above the trees. She scanned for Raze’s exact location and then, with another powerful blast of wind, she shot down.
Boom!
She slammed into the ground with a huge wind attack that slammed into Raze and sent him flying a few meters. Raze was spinning mid-air; when he saw the ground, he cast a water spell and created a huge ball of water to fall into, saving himself from heavy injuries.
He got back up, wet and dripping, and saw Gavin leaned against a tree, struggling as well. So he bolted toward him. He grabbed Gavin and threw him over his shoulder.
"Leave me, I can handle myself," Gavin managed to say in a low voice.
"Not the time for that. We have to go," Raze said and began running. But the lady was no joke, she bolted through the air, blasting herself forward with wind magic to move faster.
"Come here," she said, and then attacked with a wind blade that slashed right into Raze’s back. Blood splattered in all directions as Raze collapsed with Gavin.
"Seems we can’t run," Gavin muttered.
"I—I’m not dying h-here," Raze stammered and started pushing himself up. His breath grew colder, and ice started spreading across his body due to the dropping temperature.
Gavin looked at Raze still fighting. He gritted his teeth, he wasn’t about to lose either. He wanted to avenge, he wanted to stand for justice. He wasn’t going to allow himself to die. Gritting his teeth, he pushed his broken body to stand.
Both he and Raze stood facing the lady, their eyes carrying an unyielding will. Then Raze suddenly lifted his hand and fired a flame arrow and a water arrow high into the sky. They collided, made a small explosion, and then left a lot of steam.
The lady was confused as to what that was, but she didn’t care. A blade suddenly formed in her hands, black and giving off a very sinister aura.
