Chapter 62: Leaving Ribest
The next few days were filled with a specific routine for Raze. He worked through the night, developing soaps and perfumes; the house smelled like flowers and herbs all the time. During the day, he focused on training Ella, training his body, and overseeing the work on the road. The progress was massive, fifty percent of the town was already done, and the roads were simply stunning. He cooked dinner every day because everyone was in love with his cooking, and even the maids got the opportunity to taste his glorious meals.
Whatever little time he had, he read, studying books on Qi, fire, and water magic, learning new spells, and mastering what he already knew. It was a crazy schedule, but he managed to carry it out. With bags under his eyes and his body moving like a zombie, he pushed through it all.
Elaine was worried about his health, but he was far too stubborn, so she did what she could to ensure that she helped him and made his life easier. Through all that, he made it to the last day, the day they had to head to the academy.
He had done all he could to prepare, instructing Robert on all the work related to the road and the materials to gather while he was away. The cave they found was packed and filled with everything they could need to refine, iron, copper, low-level mana crystals, and much more. He also spent time drafting the refining process and how exactly they had to store them.
He decided that he would be leaving Elaine as well since the academy didn’t allow private maids. He also asked Fey to remain behind. Fey was the new guardian of Ribest; he couldn’t follow Raze around. He had to do his job here, especially now that Ribest was beginning to get attention.
With everything in place, he was ready to go. He forced himself to sleep that night because he needed to be up and bright the next day.
As soon as he woke up, he dragged out all the crates filled with soaps and perfumes, stacking them outside. Lady Terra looked at them all with a smile on her face. She had drafted and signed the contract with Raze yesterday, and now she could finally get the first batch. Raze managed to make over five hundred of each.
"You really outdid yourself," she stated, her eyes scanning the crates. "Luckily, we brought a large cargo carriage."
There were three carriages there, one of which was a massive carriage for goods. The maids assisted Raze in loading everything into the carriage.
The people who were leaving today were Riker, Raze, Ella, and Gavin—the ones headed to the academy for the examination. Lady Terra, Lewis, and Ken would also be heading back today as well.
Lady Terra lifted her hand, revealing a ring. She waved her hand over it, and a sack of coins appeared. "I calculated everything we agreed on; this should be all. I added a little for interest. Thought I should pay you before we head out. Also, you still have your ten percent from every sale at the auction," she said as she handed it to him.
Raze took the coins, but his gaze lingered on the ring on her hand. It was a spatial ring, and they were crazy expensive. One could store huge amounts of things inside its suspended space. When he got the chance, he would get one for sure.
Raze handed the coins over to Elaine, who was behind him. "Handle it," he said. "The workers and everything you believe is needed, you’re in charge while I’m not here."
She stared at the sack with wide eyes. "Young master, this is a lot to place on me," she said.
"I trust you," he replied, then walked toward the carriage. "Make sure you keep Fey in line as well, and also use the cook book I left you to cook for him. I’ll be back before you all know it," Raze said, waving his hand over his head as he walked into the carriage.
Ella followed after. "Goodbye, Elaine and Fey. It’s been fun." She gave a smile and then entered. Gavin turned and bowed to Elaine and Fey before walking in, and then finally, Riker got in as well.
Lady Terra, Lewis, and Ken got into the second carriage. The coachmen started the journey immediately after, and in a few seconds, they left the compound.
Immediately after they were gone, Fey yawned, stretching his hands into the air. "Now to sleep in Raze’s bed, it’s much more comfortable than mine."
He took a step, and Elaine grabbed his collar. "We are going to check on the workers for Raze. He hasn’t been able to do it today because he left early," she said. She handed the sack to one of the maids. "Keep this in the young master’s room." The maid looked nervous but took it and left. Elaine pulled Fey, dragging him along.
"Come on, I want to sleep. There’s no point in me seeing what I don’t know anything about," he argued.
"If you don’t come, I’ll not cook for you," she threatened, and instantly he stood straight and walked beside her. They left the compound and entered the town.
"Tell me, human, what exactly are you?" Fey suddenly asked Elaine. She looked at him with a confused expression. "What do you mean?" she asked.
"You know what I mean. You are definitely not as simple as you seem. I am a divine being that has lived for thousands of years, and I know that you are not, Kyack!" Elaine chopped the back of his neck with her hand, causing Fey sharp pain.
"Don’t stick your nose in my business, you overgrown dog. Just do what you have to for young master Raze, and make sure you do it well," she said. Her eyes turned cold, sending shivers down Fey’s spine. He, a divine Fenrir, felt chills.
