Chapter 53: From the Forest
Terra looked at Raze; she couldn’t help but smile, the smile of someone who had just met another with a similar mind. "Your plan is simply genius. From my time in business, I have come to understand that rich people love novelty, having the opportunity to use something before someone else can use it," she stated.
"That’s exactly the point. After continuously selling in auctions, you can then allow everyone to have it. By then, a new product would have come out, and the rich will jump on that," Raze said.
"May I suggest something?" Terra asked.
"Yes, for sure," he replied.
"It would be best if you made three qualities of your product, gold, silver, and bronze. Each level visibly different from the higher and cheaper. Trust me, it will increase your gains," Terra said.
’She thinks like a good businessperson. I like that. It would be best for us to keep relations,’ Raze thought.
"That won’t be an issue. I’ll draft up a full contract by the end of the day, and we’ll have everything signed," Raze stated. The door to the room opened, and Elaine walked in with a tray. She placed it down, four cups carrying steaming hot tea and some sort of baked biscuit.
"Young master, the town’s men are asking for you outside. They want information on how to go concerning the road," Elaine said.
"Shit, I forgot about it," Raze muttered, then looked at the three. "I’m pretty sure you three won’t be returning today, right? I’ll have rooms prepared for you. You can tour the town and do whatever you want, and also check out the guest house," Raze said, then got up.
"We’ll have more talks when I finish making the products. As for now, I have to head into town for some important things," Raze said.
"That will be fine. We’ll greet your father, the Baron, first, to pay respect," Terra said. Raze gave them a bow and then left the room, leaving Elaine with them to help sort them out.
As soon as he came out, he saw Ella and Fey outside. Ella stood by a pillar, and Fey sat down with his hands behind his back, supporting himself up.
"The town’s people just left, headed back to work," Ella said when she spotted him. She pushed off the pillar and walked toward him.
"I’m sorry we didn’t get to train today, Ella," Raze apologized.
"It’s fine. Elaine told me you had some guests for business. Are you done with them?" she asked.
"Not yet, but I postponed the rest of the meeting till later," he said and started walking down. Fey got up and started following behind him, as well as Ella.
"Isn’t that rude? You should have finished everything you had to before leaving them," she suggested.
"Nah, we’ve crossed all the major parts of the discussion. They have to wait here now for the rest. I haven’t even had the time to make the products," Raze said.
They left the compound and headed into town, and it was looking stunning. The roads had been cleared and leveled down; it was now time to actually start the road development.
But the workers didn’t want to start if he wasn’t there to oversee the process. The making of the roads had a few things to take into consideration. They had to ensure that the drainages at the side of the road were properly built, a proper channel for all the water to ensure that rain wouldn’t destroy the roads.
Then there was the three-segment laying of rocks to ensure it became compact and strong. He was using an ancient and simple method, hopefully, in the future, they would do better.
When they finally arrived at the site where the road was meant to start, he saw all the workers there, relaxed and talking leisurely. Raze’s eyes twitched.
’I know they have finished leveling the entire town, but who gave them the right to rest? Hell no,’ he thought, then bellowed from the bottom of his lungs,
"Since you all have had a very good rest, then I’m sure you’ll be happy to work two extra hours today!" His voice cut through all the noise as everything went silent. Their heads snapped to look at Raze, and their eyes widened when they realized he was the one who had spoken.
Instantly, they all burst into wailing, trying to tell Raze why they couldn’t work an extra hour.
"Young master, please!"
"Young master, we already finished what we had to do, please," a grown man said, sounding like he would cry.
"Don’t worry. When all the work is finished, you’ll all receive a bonus," Raze said with a smile. They looked at him and immediately burst into cheers.
"I guess two extra hours isn’t too bad," one even said, but then Raze’s grin widened, and they instantly knew it wasn’t over. Because whenever he smiled, it wasn’t something good.
"The bonus will be so good; I’m being generous. My parents taught us to repay good with good. Now I have done you all good, soooo, an extra hour every day will be good for my goodness, right?" Raze asked. Their faces all twisted after hearing that.
They all knew that a bonus offered by the young master wasn’t something they could refuse. They knew it would be massive, but an extra hour every day? They were already giving their all on normal days.
Without any choice, they all nodded in response and roared, "Yes, young master! We’ll work even harder!" they bellowed, raising their hands.
"You train them like pets," Ella stated. Raze looked at her, his smile still on his face. "I don’t know what you are talking about," he said.
Now that they had finished that, Raze was about to start showing them what they were to do next, but then, suddenly, the men who had peeked into the bathhouse and were working at the mountains, along with the remaining men that watched them there to ensure they didn’t run, came running out of the forest at full speed, their eyes showing horror, sweat covering their terrified bodies.
They screamed their lungs out as they ran. Seeing this, everyone froze for a moment. Raze used his God’s Eye, and when he looked into the forest, what he saw scared him.
