Chapter 263: Chapter 263 Introducing a Client to You_1
"Handsome, riding a motorcycle is really fun!"
"Don’t be so resistant!"
The punk girl pulled hard at Su Xuan, trying to take him for a ride on her motorcycle, which caused him great embarrassment.
However, just when they were at a stalemate, she suddenly received a phone call from her boyfriend. After a brief chat, she walked away with a pout, clearly displeased.
"Handsome, wait here for me, okay? I’ll be back for you very soon!"
Before leaving, she reluctantly left those words for Su Xuan.
After all that fuss, the ten-minute bet between Su Xuan and the old man had expired.
"You lost."
Su Xuan squatted again in front of the old man’s stand and reached for the two hundred yuan, but he was stunned.
The money was gone!
"You’re the one who lost." The old man stroked his white beard and said with a smile, "You just had a mishap."
"That counts as a mishap?" Su Xuan glared.
"Yes!" the old man said seriously. "A romantic encounter is also a form of misfortune. Fortunately, she was just a young girl. If it had been a burly old dame, you’d definitely be finished today!"
"You do have a point there!"
Su Xuan knew he had been tricked and stood up to leave.
"Hold on!" the old man said, ever the professional. "I won’t take your hundred yuan for nothing. I’ll transfer the bad luck away from you."
"Forget it!"
Su Xuan waved his hand and got straight into his car.
Then, through the windshield, he witnessed a bizarre scene. The old man took out Su Xuan’s hundred yuan, placed it back on the stall, and then knelt down, murmuring something. A few seconds later, the old man looked up, smiled at him, and made an ’OK’ gesture.
All this superstitious nonsense!
Su Xuan started the vehicle to leave, but then he discovered something unbelievable!
His neck had suddenly straightened!
Yes. Without any treatment, the neck that had been crooked for nearly half the day was now straight!
He focused his gaze on the old man again. And, whether the old man was faking it or not, his neck slowly began to tilt!
"Go on, go on!" the old man said dismissively, waving at Su Xuan. Then, as if he had just remembered something, he walked over to Su Xuan’s car window with his neck tilted, handed over his business card, and said, "If you ever need anything, remember to look for me."
With that, the old man returned to his stall and sat down, upright and proper.
But as soon as Su Xuan drove away, a strange smile crept onto the old man’s face, and he started to look around.
A few minutes later, a middle-aged woman passed by his stall.
"Ahem!" The old man coughed twice in the woman’s direction and said, "Hey there, miss, how about a chat? A palm reading would be nice, too!"
"You old lecher!" The woman glared at him and walked away.
"That’s not right!" The old man touched his head and muttered to himself, "I already transferred that young fellow’s romantic luck to myself. Women should be clinging to me, not letting go. Why isn’t it working?"
He had just knelt and chanted in the hope of transferring Su Xuan’s romantic luck to himself. Having lived as a widower for over a decade, he was in desperate need of some romantic luck to enrich his golden years!
But what he didn’t know was that if Su Xuan truly had any misfortune, it certainly wasn’t romantic luck, but something inextricably linked to the bizarre incident at Zhuilong Mountain!
Suddenly, a fierce gust of wind blew across the old man’s stall, carrying the cloth covering it far into the distance. The old man quickly stood up to chase after it, but he had only taken a couple of steps when a billboard on a nearby utility pole began to shake violently before falling.
CRASH!
The billboard landed squarely on the old man’s head!
"Ouch!"
The old man screamed in pain, his eyes rolled back, and he fainted. A few passersby came over and called an ambulance for him.
* * *
"Director Zhao, what is it?"
Shortly after leaving the old man’s stall, Su Xuan received a call from Zhao Yuansi of Huatian Heavy Industries.
"Boss, about the incident at Zhuilong Mountain... I still haven’t been able to investigate it," Zhao Yuansi said gravely. "I found a few geologists and asked them to inspect the tunnel, but none of them dared to go."
"Then why are you calling me?" Su Xuan frowned.
"Well..." Zhao Yuansi said suddenly. "I want to resign. I consulted a master who told me that if I stay at Huatian Heavy Industries, my luck will be drained, and I could die in an accident any day."
"Are you serious?" Su Xuan asked.
Of all his employees across all his companies, Zhao Yuansi was the first to voluntarily resign. And Huatian Heavy Industries wasn’t a small firm; it was a large, bona fide corporation. Was it really worth resigning over a single, unexplained incident?
"I am," Zhao Yuansi said. "I have parents to care for and children to raise. I don’t want to die in an accident. If I have to die, I want it to be of old age."
"Zhao Yuansi." Su Xuan’s expression grew stern. "If an accident were really going to happen, it would happen to me, the boss, first. It wouldn’t reach a professional manager like you. What are you so afraid of?"
"Boss, I’m really scared!" Zhao Yuansi pleaded tearfully. "Please, just let me go!"
"Alright, how about this," Su Xuan said after a moment’s thought. "As it happens, I know a master who can help people transfer their bad luck away. After you get off work, I’ll pick you up from the company and take you to meet him."
This was just a tactic to placate him. He didn’t want a long-standing employee like Zhao Yuansi to resign, as it would significantly impact Huatian Heavy Industries’ business.
"Oh... okay then!" Zhao Yuansi actually believed him. "I’ll wait for you at the company!"
No wonder he’s not scared, Zhao Yuansi couldn’t help but think. It turns out he secretly found someone to transfer his bad luck away!
At six o’clock that evening, Su Xuan finished his work and arrived at the Huatian Heavy Industries building, calling Zhao Yuansi to come down.
"Boss, you really keep a low profile!" Zhao Yuansi said as soon as he got into the car. "I thought you’d at least be driving a BMW or a Mercedes."
"You don’t need a fancy car to be a ride-share driver," Su Xuan replied coolly and drove off.
"Boss, you’re a ride-share driver?" Zhao Yuansi asked, surprised again.
"Just for fun," Su Xuan said offhandedly.
"Boss, is your master expensive?" Zhao Yuansi placed a black briefcase on his lap and patted it. "I only brought a hundred thousand yuan. I’m not sure if that’s enough."
"Uh..." Su Xuan was at a loss for words. "That should be enough, I guess," he finally said, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
He then drove to the spot where he had met the old man, only to find the stall was gone.
"He closes up pretty early. It’s not even dark yet."
Su Xuan had no choice but to take out the business card the old man had given him and dial the number on it.
"Hello, who is this?" The old man’s voice on the other end was weak and feeble.
"Master, it’s me," Su Xuan said, putting on a serious act for Zhao Yuansi. "I have a client for you. He also wants to transfer his bad luck away..."
"I’m not available!" the old man replied coldly before hanging up.
