Chapter 89: Chapter 89 Smash the Car (Four Updates for Subscription)_1
"Brother Cen, where are you?"
"I’m on the opposite lane. I’ll make a U-turn and come over."
"Got it."
Looking across the lane, Su Xuan hung up the phone. A Bugatti Veyron was making a U-turn at a nearby intersection and heading his way.
"Little Brother Su, what a coincidence!" Jenny’s Bar owner Cen Haonan exclaimed, tightly gripping Su Xuan’s hand the moment he stepped out of the car. His underling, Heizi, got out with him.
"It really is, Brother Cen!" Su Xuan held Cen Haonan’s hand just as tightly.
He was just "catching up" with one of their lackeys, and now the man himself, Cen Haonan, had arrived. Even his trusted aide, Heizi, was here. If that wasn’t a coincidence, what was?
"Tsk tsk, it really is the Charman King!" After letting go of Su Xuan’s hand, Cen Haonan cast his eyes toward the vehicle. "Little Brother Su, is this your car?"
"Just bought it," Su Xuan replied.
"Can I have a look?" Cen Haonan asked.
"Be my guest."
Chuckling with excitement, Cen Haonan walked over to the Charman King, stroking his chin as he scrutinized it.
Api glanced at Cen Haonan and Heizi, then stood silently to the side, frozen in fear. His crew of men in black tank tops were also terrified, not daring to move a muscle.
"Brother Su, who are these guys?" Guo Yuxiang asked in a low voice, sensing the unusual aura around Cen Haonan and Heizi.
Without speaking, Su Xuan simply jutted his chin toward Api.
Ah, so the big boss of the little ruffians is here! Guo Yuxiang nodded in understanding. He finally realized why Api had been so deferential to Su Xuan from the very beginning. So Su Xuan knows their boss! He couldn’t help but shoot a gloating glance at the detestable couple. You two are like woodpeckers landing on a bitterwood tree—you’re just asking for trouble! You’re also like someone opening a coal shop inside their own house—bringing misfortune right to your doorstep! Hahaha!
"Brother Su, it’s not entirely a coincidence that we ran into you," Heizi explained with a smile, stepping over to Su Xuan while Cen Haonan was busy examining the car.
"Today, Brother Cen’s Supercar Association was holding a test-drive event. Everyone was out on the outer ring road, swapping cars for fun. Brother Cen was enjoying a borrowed Bugatti Veyron when an association member called him. They said they’d spotted a Charman King on this stretch of road that seemed to have been in an accident. He immediately drove over, wanting to see the Charman King for himself, and unexpectedly ran into you."
"Ha, I thought Brother Cen was only interested in supercars," Su Xuan said with a smile.
"He’s interested in all kinds of rare cars," Heizi joked in a low voice, "just as he’s interested in all kinds of rare beauties."
"Heizi, you want to lose that tongue of yours?" Cen Haonan growled, having overheard Heizi’s comment as he turned to glare at him.
"Haha, Boss, I’m not just making things up!" Heizi said with a fawning smile. "You’re the one who said that a good car is like a beautiful woman; the driving experience is indescribable. And you love them both!"
"Heh, you certainly have a good memory!" Cen Haonan chuckled. He walked over to the scrape on the Charman King and touched it lightly, a pained look on his face. "This beauty’s face has a slight scratch. *Sigh*!"
Having followed Cen Haonan for years, Heizi had developed a tacit understanding between them. The moment he heard Cen Haonan say this, he knew they were getting to the main point. Cen Haonan had already figured everything out.
"Api, come here. Tell me what’s going on," Heizi immediately called out, waving over the terrified Api.
"Brother Heizi, here’s what happened..." Api didn’t dare hide anything and recounted the entire story. He made sure to clarify that he hadn’t offended Su Xuan; he’d even offered him a cigarette and helped demand compensation from his own uncle on Su Xuan’s behalf.
"Brother Su, I apologize. I’ll discipline my guys properly when we get back," Heizi said to Su Xuan immediately.
It didn’t matter if Api had *actually* offended Su Xuan. The moment he showed up with his crew, it was an act of intimidation. That alone was a mistake. A serious transgression.
"It’s fine. I haven’t suffered any losses, so you don’t need to be hard on them," Su Xuan said with a dismissive wave of his hand.
This was the perfect opportunity to do Cen Haonan a favor. Being petty would only lower his own standing. Besides, he still owed Cen Haonan one.
"Heizi, come here a moment," Cen Haonan suddenly beckoned with a smile. He draped an arm over Heizi’s shoulder, but his eyes were fixed on Api as he said calmly, "There’s a problem with that Panamera. The rims and the spoiler aren’t original..." He paused, pondering for a moment before adding, "You know what to do next, right?"
He left it at that—a profound and ominous hint.
"I know." With a grim expression, Heizi walked toward Api. He pointed at the Panamera and asked coldly, "I heard you were flipping used cars recently. Did this one pass through your hands?"
"Yes... yes, it did!" Api’s face turned ashen.
"Bring me the registration," Heizi commanded.
Api knew instantly what Heizi intended to do: check the engine number against the vehicle registration. But a smuggled car wouldn’t have a real registration, only a fake one. The engine number had also been ground down and falsified. That Panamera was a smuggled, second-hand car that had been wrecked and modified.
Api decided to confess. "Brother Heizi, it’s a smuggled car! I was wrong!"
"Don’t call me ’brother.’" Heizi’s voice was cold. "I don’t have a brother like you."
Heizi turned to walk back to Cen Haonan, but then he whipped around and viciously slapped Api across the face. "Did you forget what Boss Cen told us?" he snarled through gritted teeth. "Times have changed! There are some things we can’t touch anymore. Are you a damn idiot?! Getting involved with low-class junk like a smuggled car! Shit!"
Blood trickled from the corner of Api’s mouth, but he just kept bowing, repeating strangely, "Thank you, Brother Heizi! Thank you!"
He knew Heizi’s temperament all too well. If Heizi had simply turned and walked away, it would have meant he was completely abandoned. Not even Jesus could save him then. But turning back to slap him meant that Heizi still had some brotherly sentiment left in his heart.
"What are you thanking me for?" Heizi shot back coldly. "If Brother Su hadn’t just told me to go easy on you, do you think you’d still be standing here talking to me?"
Api immediately turned to Su Xuan, bowing repeatedly. "Thank you, Brother Su! Thank you! I will definitely repay your immense kindness!"
Su Xuan just shrugged at Heizi.
"Have them smash the car," Cen Haonan said, his smile never wavering. He pointed a casual finger at the Panamera. "After it’s smashed, tow it away and burn it. From now on, nobody touches this kind of stuff again. It’s just foolishness!"
Smashing the car on the spot would punish his subordinates and serve as a warning, while also letting Su Xuan and his friends vent their anger. It killed two birds with one stone.
Su Xuan certainly understood Cen Haonan’s gesture. He smiled and asked, "Have you had lunch yet?"
Cen Haonan shrugged. "Too busy playing with cars, haven’t had the chance to eat!"
"Lunch is on me today," Su Xuan offered.
"Sounds great!" Cen Haonan readily agreed, then lowered his voice conspiratorially. "First, we enjoy the show. Watching a car get smashed... it’s almost as satisfying as watching a beauty... haha... undress!"
At that, no more needed to be said. Api turned to his men in their black tank tops. "Grab the tools! Smash it!"
The group immediately went to their van, pulled out an assortment of clubs and pipes, and descended upon the Panamera with a vengeance.
"Hey! No, you can’t smash it!"
"That’s our car! We bought it with our blood and sweat!"
"Please, stop! Stop! WAAAHHH!"
The couple who owned the car began to wail, but they fell silent the very next second. Their beloved nephew had turned to look at them and asked with chilling sweetness, "Do you two want me to arrange your funerals?"
Su Xuan didn’t watch the beautiful scene of the car’s destruction. Instead, he crouched beside the young brother and sister and gently patted their little heads. "Want to go see the giant pandas?"
The siblings looked up at Su Xuan and replied in perfect, eager unison, "Want to eat!"
Su Xuan laughed heartily.
Right! The two little ones were hungry too. Time to head back to the Champion Mansion for a family feast!
At that moment, Cen Haonan’s gaze fell upon Shi Yazhi, and his eyes suddenly lit up. It was the bright gleam of a master talent scout discovering a once-in-a-generation prodigy.
