Chapter 77 The General's Special Affection?

“Brother-in-law?”

The moment the door opened, to Ye Yun’s astonished gaze, a male creature threw him a big hug from behind the door. It was none other than the guy who had soiled himself during their first meeting, Ding Dang.

“Um…” Ye Yun really wanted to explain.

“Brother-in-law, come in and sit! Dinner’s almost ready! Haha, when I first arrived in Modu, I asked my sister to invite you out for a couple of drinks. She always said you were busy.”

“I heard you introduced my sister to the Dragon Palace? So, your sister is your colleague now? How is it, does it feel good to be supervised by the one you love?”

“But speaking of which, brother-in-law, am I going to be an uncle soon? Last night at dinner, I noticed my sister seemed really nauseous, and you guys haven't even had a wedding banquet or registered your marriage or anything.”

Listen to this, what kind of outrageous things are these!

I haven't even had a chance to explain, and this idiot has already arranged everything for me? Can I just turn around and leave now?

Ye Yun glanced at Ding Yi, who stood there with an embarrassed and flushed face, her head bowed, and desperately signaled to her.

Don’t just keep your head down, quickly help me explain! I’m still a pure young virgin!

Encountering such a brother-in-law, no, such a fool, with his current power, Ye Yun felt that even his 100% materialized combat strength wouldn't be able to stop him.

“I heard you’re going to join the army? Got a girlfriend before you go?” At this critical moment, Ye Yun knew he had to rely on himself, even if his eloquence wasn’t great.

“This…” Ding Dang’s face instantly fell, feeling like he had been hit by ten thousand critical blows. Bringing up the army was one thing, but why mention a girlfriend? Could he eat that?

Seeing this, Ye Yun couldn't help but grin. Although he was the one who arranged for this kid to join the army, it didn't stop him from using it to retort.

“Is that Young Ye? Why are you still standing outside? Dinner is almost ready.” A hoarse voice sounded. Ye Yun detected a hint of weakness in the voice.

“Uncle and Aunt, I’m truly sorry to bother you today. I was originally planning to have Ding Yi take you two out to a restaurant, but my work has been too busy.”

Ye Yun shoved the idiot standing at the door aside, carried two bags of health supplements, and rushed in. Chatting with that guy made him feel like he’d end up killing him.

“Oh, Young Ye, you really shouldn’t have. You didn’t need to bring anything. We’re family now, no need to waste money.”

An old woman, around fifty or sixty years old, walked out from the kitchen. Seeing the health supplements in Ye Yun’s hand, she chided him.

Family?

Ye Yun’s hand trembled in fright. This was clearly a banquet of deception!

Ye Yun’s head throbbed. The main reason was that he had no experience with this. If he had known about this situation, he would have first sought out Baidu for a strategy guide.

This was Ye Yun’s first time below the 60th floor of the Dragon Palace Building, and even more so, his first time entering a member’s home. He was quite satisfied with the decoration of Ding Yi’s home.

Dragon Palace members’ homes were all uniformly arranged, with no special treatment given based on their rank within the Dragon Palace. These families were unaware of who the high-ranking officials were, and were collectively referred to as official Dragon Palace members to the outside world.

Even though the Li family’s head steward had caused trouble last time, the entire building had been locked down immediately. No one other than security and Dragon Palace members were allowed in or out!

The suites in the Dragon Palace Building were all three-bedroom or four-bedroom units. Three-bedroom units occupied seven floors, with each suite being over 120 to 155 square meters. Both the spatial layout and the lighting and ventilation had been re-designed and renovated.

Considering that Dragon Palace families would have frequent interactions, the living room was exceptionally spacious. The unit Ding Yi was allocated had a living room of over forty square meters, and the huge floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the surrounding twenty or so floors of buildings.

“Uncle, do you like living here?” Ye Yun sat and chatted with Ding Yi’s father.

“It’s okay, hehe. Mainly, Little Yi comes back to chat with me every day. And in the evenings, if I have nothing to do, I can take a walk downstairs and dance a bit.”

Square dancing? I wouldn't have guessed. I wonder if there will be any scandalous news later? Ye Yun looked at Old Man Ding.

Ding Yi’s father had a dark, weathered face full of wrinkles, and his rough hands were calloused. His somewhat hunched body appeared exceptionally thin.

Watching him carefully take a small handful of tea leaves and put them into the teapot, Ye Yun knew he was an honest and upright elder. Perhaps accustomed to his old life, he cherished his current life all the more.

“Young Ye, we’ve been in Modu for so long, and we’ve always wanted to find time to meet you and thank you for your help to Little Yi and our family. But that little girl always said you were busy, so I didn’t want to bother you. Later, you must have a few more drinks.”

As he spoke, he poured boiling water into the teapot, somewhat awkwardly scalding the teacups. From the way he brewed tea, it was evident that he was unaccustomed to doing this kind of work.

“Uncle, I’ll do it!” Ye Yun quickly took the tea set from his hands, not wanting an elder to pour tea for him. Then he poured boiling water into the teapot again…

Ye Yun was very familiar with this way of brewing tea because he had grown up with his maternal grandfather in the countryside and was quite familiar with most rural living habits.

However, after his grandfather passed away, he was taken to live in Longcheng and never returned.

This simple action surprised Ding Yi’s father. Because he had been in the city for a while, he had observed that city dwellers were extremely meticulous about brewing tea, with complicated techniques and precise water temperatures. Ye Yun’s actions, in his eyes, were simply a breath of fresh air.

Meeting and dining with Ding Yi’s parents wasn’t filled with too many formalities. The overall atmosphere felt relaxed and casual, especially with the occasional witty remark from that idiot.

After dinner, Ding Yi accompanied Ye Yun back to the top floor in the elevator.

“General, you really don’t know what you were eating just now?” Ding Yi couldn’t hold back any longer. Recalling her mother constantly adding things to his bowl, the roots of her neck turned red.

“Which one are you referring to?” Ye Yun looked at the career woman, confused.

“The little white ones, about the size of a thumb, the ‘jizi’,” Ding Yi said.

“Ah, that. It tasted good. Your mother was just too enthusiastic, she made me eat a whole big bowl! Didn’t your mother say it was a great tonic? So it was called ‘jizi’.”

Ye Yun remembered the delicious dish from earlier, feeling a sense of longing. It was his first time eating this, and according to his aunt, it was brought by someone from their hometown.

Ding Yi watched Ye Yun’s blissful expression, completely bewildered.

“You actually like eating ‘jizi’? General, your hobbies are indeed rather unique.” Ding Yi looked at Ye Yun, her face slightly flushed.

“It’s alright. Mostly, your mother is a good cook. But speaking of which, what exactly is ‘jizi’?” Ye Yun nodded, then pulled out his phone and directly asked Baidu, thinking of inviting Zhou Ningdong and the others to join him in the future.

*Clatter…*

His phone fell to the ground.

“‘Jizi’ are chicken testicles? Are you sure that’s what I just ate a whole bowl of?” After reading Baidu’s answer, Ye Yun was dumbfounded. Damn it, no wonder Ding Dang didn’t touch a single bite! No wonder Ding Yi’s mother looked so delighted and satisfied! No wonder her father looked so appreciative.

It was better not to know, but now that he knew, Ye Yun felt his mouth was full of fragrance, and even the entire elevator seemed to be filled with the scent of hormones.

Damn it, one dinner, and I’ve capsized in the gutter!

{PS: Haha, this is my personal experience. I was so embarrassed back then, I almost threw up at the dinner table.}
