Chapter 483: The Silver-White Devil Soaring in the Sky (Part 1)
The first weekend after Halloween marked the official start of the Quidditch season at Hogwarts.
As the most popular sport in the wizarding world, neither the biting November winds of the Scottish Highlands nor the heavy and tedious homework and chores of recent days could dampen the soaring enthusiasm of the Hogwarts students.
The opening match of the Hogwarts Quidditch season this term was between the freshman team and the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
At ten-thirty, half an hour before the start of the match, the stands surrounding the Quidditch pitch were already packed.
Apart from the players participating in the match, almost the entire student body and faculty had already found their places. The stands, magically elevated by the professors, were now filled with excited young wizards, many of whom had brought binoculars, clearly having prepared for this moment for a long time.
The Gryffindor team was a traditional powerhouse, and for many years their Seeker system had been their winning formula.
Even though the Gryffindor team had been in an awkward position of being frequently thrashed by various houses in recent years due to the lack of a strong Seeker since Charlie Weasley graduated, Gryffindor still had considerable entertainment value in terms of stretching space, quick maneuverability, and Bludger control—all they lacked was a savior who could end the game.
However, the focus of attention in this match was not them.
The Hogwarts freshman team, a mixed team of first-year students from all four houses, was coached by Madam Hooch, the Quidditch teacher. The Chasers were Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, and Hannah Abbott; the Beaters were Gregory Goyle and Vincent Crabbe; the Keeper was Ron Weasley; and most importantly…
The soul figure who directly led to the birth of this freshman Quidditch team, Aileen a.k.a. Elena Kaslana.
Although almost no one except the Gryffindor Quidditch team players who were responsible for sparring had ever seen Elena play Quidditch, the only impression that the other three teams had of Elena Kaslana mostly remained from the freshman selection.
However, judging from the increasingly haggard Gryffindor Quidditch players, this team composed of freshmen was obviously not simple, especially after the reason why the freshman team could enter the formal Quidditch season was leaked—they had defeated any formal Quidditch team in a training match.
As a result, rumors about Elena's Quidditch talent were spreading everywhere in Hogwarts.
Some said that she was a Seeker, a once-in-a-century genius, who was as cold-blooded, ruthless, and clean as an experienced hunter when chasing the Golden Snitch. Others said that she possessed unparalleled talent, capable of tearing apart the opposing defensive line like a sharp blade… But regardless of which, people firmly believed that she had the ability to directly end the game.
Not only because she was Elena Kaslana, but also because that was the duty of a Seeker.
For most young wizards, this match was more like an exhibition game where NBA rookies formed a team to compete against a mature team—everyone understood that regardless of the outcome, the outstanding young wizards from this freshman team would join their respective house teams at the end of this term and become the new generation of rising stars.
At the same time, in the locker room of the freshman team.
The atmosphere was a bit tense as Elena and the other teammates were changing into their silver-white Quidditch robes.
The freshman Quidditch team's robes were designed by Luna and a few other first-year girls. The team emblems, which were originally house logos, had all been uniformly replaced with a pair of unfolded white wings.
Because she had been busy with remedial studies and the Hogwarts vegetable garden these days, Elena had not put much energy into the team's training recently. The young wizards' training was mostly done according to Madam Hooch's requirements.
Tactically, there was nothing particularly unique.
Harry and Malfoy were still executing a simple and efficient two-person offensive mode, while the starting and ending point of the attack was Ron Weasley, who was positioned at the goal—after two months of training, the three boys had almost become half-brothers, walking arm in arm every weekend, and their cooperation was visibly becoming more tacit.
On the other hand, Goyle and Crabbe were taught separately by the Weasley twins.
Although not true blood brothers, these two chubby kids, who had grown up playing together since childhood, quickly showed cooperation skills second only to the Weasley twins. According to George Weasley, these two chubby kids would definitely become a big trouble for Gryffindor and even every house after their second year.
But even so, the Weasley twins did not have any intention of holding back—even though there was a long-standing feud between Gryffindor and Slytherin, they couldn't resist the two chubby kids' honeyed words of "Senior" and "Master".
(Although Goyle and Crabbe initially refused, they realized it after Elena gave them a lecture.)
"Alright, everyone, this is our first match."
Elena cleared her throat, looked around the quiet locker room, and gave a pre-match pep talk.
"Today's opponents are not strangers, they are the Gryffindor Quidditch team that everyone has been familiar with these days. We have been training with them for the past few weeks, which is an advantage, but also a hidden danger."
"Wood and the others are familiar with all our tactics and everyone's characteristics—that's why their winning rate has been able to rise to about 30% in recent training matches."
"But they are too eager for victory. The more familiar they are with us, the more likely they are to become restrained in the following games. According to my estimation, Gryffindor's chances of winning today may not even exceed 10%."
"Most importantly, they lack the means to end the game… Neither George, Fred, nor Wood can show too strong of an influence on the offensive end."
"So…"
"Go ahead and attack boldly! Soar high! Let the whole school see the results of your training these days!"
Elena smiled confidently and led everyone out of the locker room, heading towards the cheering Quidditch pitch.
As for victory?
Wasn't that a matter of course?
Unless the International Quidditch Federation revised the rules and added some detailed regulations for Seekers, she was simply invincible at Hogwarts under the current Quidditch rule version.
