Mysterious Journey

Chapter 917 Hagrid: No Problem!

After lunch, Dumbledore told Erina that Professor McGonagall was planning to spend the entire day at the research institute.

If everything goes according to plan, she should be able to publish a paper in *Today's Transfiguration* next week.

On the other hand, the Transfiguration course curriculum will also undergo some corresponding adjustments. At least, judging from the teaching materials Professor McGonagall applied for, compasses, set squares, balances... these tools will also appear in the Transfiguration classroom later – in addition to this, Professor McGonagall is also listing some scattered Transfiguration reference objects, so that students can observe and learn directly in the classroom.

Just as she had hoped, Transfiguration has finally become a rigorous, scientific magical discipline.

Erina expressed neither joy nor sadness, but only additionally emphasized her special arrangement of not having to attend Transfiguration classes on weekdays. No matter what happens, her Transfiguration class should only be on Saturday nights each week.

She knew this was a desperate measure, knowing that one day she would face the complete Transfiguration.

As the little angel who opened the gates of hell, Erina knew the future even better than Professor McGonagall.

Magic can fill in the "black box", but that doesn't mean wizards have no room for improvement.

With increasingly clear modeling and the establishment of mapping relationships, magic can be used more efficiently – at least when the absolute magic power is not so different, the superiority of the algorithm will directly determine the wizard's level of Transfiguration ability, which is very reasonable.

But she just didn't want to return to the terrible mathematical modeling so early.

It would give her the illusion that she was still struggling in the destiny of her previous life – most importantly, as the Goblin Queen, the Third Generation Dark Lord, the Favored Daughter of Destiny, Miss Fool, Hogwarts Headmistress... with so many illustrious identities, there was no reason for her to do homework, right! Even worse, she might also have to serve as the question setter at the same time...

The rest of the weekend passed exceptionally easily and happily, like the tranquility of the last day of summer vacation.

After last night's social gathering, the number of couples among the students at Hogwarts suddenly increased overnight. They were either lying in the shade of trees by the lake discussing homework, or studying knowledge in empty classrooms, or strolling and chatting along the corridors of Hogwarts... Hogwarts' famous lakeside suspended corridors were also the most popular places for people to discuss life.

Meanwhile, Hermione and Erina also met with Hannah and Luna in the Great Hall to enjoy their weekend time together.

As usual, they still chose to visit Hagrid in the small cabin by the Forbidden Forest.

The weather was fairly good this afternoon. Little Marinated Dishes and Reserve Grain were released by Erina, and they played with the unicorns and Hagrid's dog Fang by the Forbidden Forest, while they drank tea and chatted with Hagrid in his cabin.

Since the beginning of last semester, Hagrid's place has been a secret base for the girls to vacation on weekends.

Compared to the library with its many rules, it was obviously much quieter and more comfortable here.

"If you ask me, you really should consider expanding it, Hagrid..."

Hermione sat on the high wooden chair, looking around the slightly dilapidated walls of the wooden cabin, making the suggestion for what felt like the millionth time.

This small cabin located on the edge of the Forbidden Forest has only one room, with hams and pheasants hanging from the ceiling.

There is a simple stone fireplace with a gurgling copper pot for boiling water, and in front of the fireplace are huge wooden tables and wooden chairs.

There is also a large bed in the corner of the room. The bedding was originally made of stitched scraps of cloth, but some time ago Erina used "Elementary Alchemy" to help Hagrid change it into a four-piece bedding set, which at least didn't look as shabby as before.

In fact, if you observe carefully, you will find that there are still many changes in the room compared to last year.

A lovely wreath woven from various wildflowers hangs on the half-closed wooden door, a rabbit made of grass and trellises is placed by the windowsill, and next to it are two chubby, round-faced chickens and a three-headed dog small wood carving. The rain boots, mole skin coat, and crossbow that were once piled messily in the corner of the wall are now neatly stored in the shoe cabinet, coat rack, and weapon rack...

And next to the giant crossbow on the ground, there is also a door-sized steel shield with a strange beast painted on it.

"We're almost out of tea, Erina."

Luna stood on tiptoe, picked up the tea canister next to the fireplace and shook it, and dumped the remaining tea leaves into the copper pot.

Since Hagrid's rock cakes almost broke their teeth, the owner of this cottage has been indefinitely deprived of the right to prepare refreshments. Whenever the little witches come to play, whether it is tea, pastries... they all do it themselves.

"Oh, I'll have the Hogwarts kitchen send some over later... Hannah, don't use too much force—"

Erina responded. She was helping Hagrid move the bed a little further out with Hannah.

As the future owner of the Leaky Cauldron, Miss Abbott planned to arrange the room for Hagrid according to the guest room standards at home. For this reason, she specially asked Erina to make a bedside table that fit Hagrid's body. As for the magic lamp, Erina also used her privileges to get one from Hogwarts Castle, which happened to solve Hagrid's problem of insufficient lighting at night.

"Uh—it's really not necessary, especially this lamp and bed—"

Hagrid sat awkwardly at the wooden table in the center of the room, looking at the busy little witches in the room with some helplessness.

"It's good enough that you come to play every time. I can take care of cleaning the room and preparing the refreshments myself—I've been living alone for so many years, and there's no problem or inconvenience. At least I think it was okay before."

After a semester of getting along, these little guys have become more and more casual.

At the beginning, they just helped him decorate the room with some cute little objects, then they started helping him clean the house, plan and build shoe cabinets and display racks, and now they have even started discussing whether to tear down his cabin and rebuild one.

"The magic lamp must be added, this is a must—"

Hermione shook her head and said seriously in an uncompromising tone.

"You are different now than before. In addition to the work of the gamekeeper, you also have to keep up with the school's courses—even if the professors will take care of your grades on the final exam, the O.W.L.s test is not so easy to pass. The light in the small wooden house was too weak before. The lighting may be barely adequate, but it is definitely impossible to read and do homework..."

"Uh, actually, there are not so many rigid requirements for homework... I'm an adult wizard after all."

Hagrid muttered in a low voice with a sad face. It was hard to imagine that his burly body could make such a sound.

Among these little witches, he was most afraid of Miss Granger.

Since the poisonous mushroom incident last year, facing the lifesaver—in every sense of the word, whether it was himself or saving his future at Hogwarts—Hagrid had almost no room for refutation, and the most important thing was that this lady was particularly keen on supervising others' learning, which was simply a disaster for a student who hated studying.

"Homework is not done to deal with the professors, it is also part of learning!"

Hermione raised her eyebrows and glared at Hagrid, speaking seriously in a measured tone.

"I have seen your test papers from last semester. If they are strictly graded according to the O.W.L.s standards, most of them would not even reach an A, and if you want to stay at Hogwarts to teach, you must get at least five A's—on the other hand, after so many years without practicing spells, you also have very many shortcomings in magical skills, which is also a big problem."

"...Uh, that's because I just changed my new wand—"

Hagrid said with shifty eyes, his pleading gaze falling on Erina, who was moving the bed not far away.

Although Luna and Hannah could frustrate the "Miss Know-It-All" in some respects, the only one who could truly compete with Hermione in terms of reasoning was the smallest Hogwarts chef.

Perhaps because he was responsible for providing ingredients for the Forbidden Forest and Black Lake, Erina would often choose to help smooth things over.

However, this kind of luck was obviously not always available, after all, she was now having a hard time protecting herself.

"That's not an excuse, Mr. Hagrid—Mr. Ollivander's wand shop has always been very reliable."

Erina walked to the wooden table, looked back at the position of the bed, and explained casually.

"Besides, you also know that Hogwarts is undergoing teaching reforms. Whether it is written tests or practical exercises, these contents will inevitably be more difficult than before in the foreseeable future, and you should indeed spend more time and energy on studying later."

As the fact that Tom Riddle was Voldemort was made public, the charges against Hagrid were naturally cleared.

Under Erina's reminder, Dumbledore specially instructed the Ministry of Magic to restore all of Hagrid's rights, the most important part of which was naturally to restore his rights as a wizard—to legally own a wand—and to re-enroll without qualifications.

Facts have proved that a "melee wizard" will not improve because he has a new wand.

Decades of accumulation have allowed him to improve his absolute magic power, barely catching up with some upper-year students, but this cannot save Hagrid's clumsy magic release skills. His performance in Charms and Transfiguration is still very bad.

However, on the other hand, Care of Magical Creatures and Defense Against the Dark Arts are not difficult for Hagrid.

After a few weeks of course practice, Newt even directly appointed him as the "Care of Magical Creatures teaching assistant", mainly responsible for some physical course demonstrations, and some simple content explanations are also completed by Hagrid—as for the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, it is the other extreme, Hagrid can crush most dark creatures with his body alone.

And in the divination and Muggle Studies classes, Hagrid naturally managed to "swipe his face" to get credits.

"...Look, I can get at least four E's (Exceeds Expectations) in Divination, Muggle Studies, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Care of Magical Creatures—Sybill and Quirrell are still very easy to talk to. As for the remaining A (Acceptable), isn't there Transfiguration? Don't look at my performance in Charms class as average, but my Transfiguration grades were still considered middle-of-the-road when I was in school."

Hagrid coughed, turned around and put a plate of fudge on the wooden table, and said with a smile, grinning.

"Professor McGonagall's course is very strict, but Transfiguration is actually not that difficult. Think carefully about what can be tested in the Transfiguration written test. There are only a few spells, and then just memorize Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration."

This kind of logical analysis plan was completely unlike Hagrid, and Hannah looked at him in surprise.

Noticing Hannah's gaze, the smile on Hagrid's face became even brighter and more confident. He stood up, picked up the copper kettle from the stove, filled each little witch's cup with tea, and continued to explain in a relaxed tone.

"You little girls, don't always worry about this and that. I'm dozens of years old anyway. Maybe I'm not as smart as you in terms of learning, but I've already planned this matter concerning future employment at the school—besides Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration is the simplest of the core Hogwarts subjects, and you don't need to remember too many things..."

Transfiguration... is simple?

Hearing Hagrid's series of plans, the expressions of Erina and Hermione became subtle.

However, facing Mr. Hagrid's confident and sunny vision, the two of them did not know from what perspective to euphemistically remind and break this illusion—after all, that was about to become the terrible battlefield of Hogwarts hell.

"But, what if the content of the Transfiguration exam changes... isn't a new curriculum being promoted recently?"

Just then, Luna said softly, holding a teacup in both hands, her eyes dazed.

"Ha! There's absolutely no need to worry about this!"

Hagrid puffed out his chest proudly, and his beard trembled, obviously quite happy.

"When the semester started, I specifically consulted Professor McGonagall and Professor Dumbledore! It is difficult for Transfiguration to have substantial content changes, and specializing in this course is the most stable—of course, you must not learn from me—in addition to relatively simple Transfiguration, you can't let go of other courses, after all, you are different from me..."

"Cough, Hagrid, actually I have a suggestion—"

Erina scratched her cheeks, considered her words, and said cautiously.

"In addition to Transfiguration, you might as well have a few more goals, such as Herbology, Astronomy... If that doesn't work, Potions and Charms can also be tried. Don't put all your hopes on this one course. It's too much of a gamble."

"Hey—Erina, how did you start picking up Hermione's tone too."

Hagrid waved his hand and said loudly, not noticing Hermione's equally hesitant expression.

"I don't have that much time to spend in the classroom. To be honest, I'm already very satisfied to be able to return to school to take classes, but I still have many important responsibilities—whether it's the keykeeper or the gamekeeper, these are all things—I agreed with Professor Dumbledore that I only need to take those five courses a week, and the rest of the time is free to arrange..."

"Eh?!"

"Whoa, don't get any crooked ideas—"

Hagrid glanced at Erina, who wanted to say something, and shook his finger, saying mysteriously.

"Secretly tell you, this is also one of the 'compensations' given to me by the Ministry of Magic. I only need to take these five exams for the O.W.L.s. This is specially approved by the Ministry of Magic and the Board of Governors—written on the paper."

"...So, this... there is no room for change?"

"Of course not, this is kept on file with the International Confederation of Wizards Education Office. I have to guard against those politicians!"

Hagrid said smugly, his eyes, like black beetles, flashing with wisdom.

Erina looked at Hagrid, who still didn't realize the seriousness of the matter, and said with some pity.

"Okay, uh—I think maybe here, uh, we should add an extra desk, specially for doing homework. You should use it soon. Of course, in that case, this small wooden house really needs to be expanded."
