Mysterious Journey

Chapter 939: Newspapers and Metaphors

The teachers and students of Hogwarts did not see Umbridge in the Great Hall the next morning.

The shattered Entrance Hall had been quietly restored to its original state at some point, and the atmosphere at the staff table was harmonious and normal.

It was as if all the professors had forgotten the conflict that had occurred at Hogwarts the previous evening, and that Professor Umbridge was merely ill and unable to attend the Great Hall.

However, just like the students who had been excited all night, the reporters were clearly not going to forget the big news from yesterday.

As the owls delivering mail flew away from the students' milk jugs and toast, the students gathered in small groups, hoping to glean some information from the newspapers that the professors did not intend to discuss in detail.

However, the students soon discovered that they did not need to "search" at all, as the covers and first few pages of all the newspapers were full of "first-hand" bombshell news about Umbridge, the Ministry of Magic, and Hogwarts.

Hermione unfolded the *Daily Prophet*, and the first thing that caught her eye was a snapshot of the battle in the Entrance Hall yesterday.

It must be admitted that as the leading newspaper in the magical world today, this newspaper was indeed skilled in terms of graphics, text, and headlines.

In the dilapidated pile of rubble, Umbridge was shouting spells forward in a fierce and intimidating manner, while her opponent, the old wizard, was casually waving his wand to easily blast her away as he told the students what was happening.

Under the effect of the magical photograph, the entire scene repeated endlessly like a GIF.

The titles above the picture were:

*Secret Arrest! Hogwarts = Criminals?*

*Ministry of Magic Official Suffers Miserable Defeat at the Hands of Mysterious Castle Caretaker!*

*Umbridge May Face Indefinite Suspension!*

"Umbridge... indefinite suspension?"

Hannah leaned over to take a look, and swallowed a large piece of toast with great satisfaction.

"Does this mean we can finally get rid of those annoying, boring book-copying detentions? I shouldn't have done that homework this weekend."

"Not necessarily, this doesn't mention any changes in the Defence Against the Dark Arts position, look..."

Hermione shook her head, unfolded the newspaper, and read aloud.

"Last night, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic, Dolores Umbridge, launched a secret arrest operation.

She determined that a Hogwarts tenured professor posed a high risk and intended to make an emergency arrest in accordance with the relevant provisions of the *Secrecy Act*.

But ultimately, when leaving Hogwarts, she was met with obstruction and questioning by the newly appointed Castle Caretaker, Professor Apocalyps, and the two subsequently had some unpleasant arguments and shoves—"

"The Entrance Hall was almost a quarter destroyed, and that's called unpleasant shoves and arguments?"

Hannah said with a strange expression.

"Don't interrupt, drink your milk and eat your bread properly!"

Hermione said with a straight face, continuing to read the large article published on the front page of the *Daily Prophet*.

"—shoving behavior, which subsequently evolved into a magical conflict. Fortunately, Minister for Magic Fudge and Hogwarts Headmaster Dumbledore happened to be discussing teaching reform matters and, after learning of the conflict, arrived at the scene at the first opportunity and quickly controlled the situation."

"It is understood that Hogwarts Muggle Studies professor, Quirinus Quirrell, was accused of illegally possessing high-risk Muggle artifacts.

To this end, Dolores Umbridge dispatched five elite Aurors, including Rufus Scrimgeour, Head of the Auror Office, to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to forcibly search and secretly arrest Quirinus Quirrell. Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge later stated that he was unaware of this."

"'As Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic, Ms. Umbridge has the right to initiate a Ministerial Decree based on her personal judgment. This is a legal right granted to her by the magical government and the magical society. From a procedural compliance perspective, I personally see no problem.' At the subsequent press conference, Minister Cornelius Fudge answered reporters' questions head-on, 'Ms. Umbridge has demonstrated an extremely high level throughout her professional career over the past few decades, and I trust her judgment at critical moments. But this does not mean that I think the handling methods she chose in this incident were entirely correct.'"

"Obviously, as a magic school, Hogwarts cannot fully enforce laws in accordance with the magical society.

Forcibly arresting their teachers in the sight of underage wizards is undoubtedly a very bad and ill-considered act.

Especially when Ms. Umbridge also serves as the Hogwarts Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, the problems caused by the dual identity are something the Ministry of Magic had not previously noticed."

"In recent months, cooperation between the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts has become frequent and in-depth..."

"The rapid and steady advancement of the new Hogwarts magic curriculum standards (hereinafter referred to as the 'New Curriculum') is a shared vision of both parties.

Just last weekend, Hogwarts Deputy Headmistress and Transfiguration Professor Minerva McGonagall released *Modern Transfiguration Theory*. If the theory is finalized, it may replace and overturn a series of basic theories such as Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration that have existed in the magical world for centuries, restarting the field of Transfiguration.

And this is just a more dazzling part of the phased achievements in the process of promoting the Hogwarts New Curriculum."

"It is reported that several more major academic papers are already in the preparation stage for publication..."

Hermione looked at the content below, paused with some surprise, and turned to look at Luna, who was diligently stirring her mashed potatoes.

"Luna, your dad's name is also mentioned here. This is really strange for the *Daily Prophet*—look."

"'Ms. Dolores Umbridge has been parasitized by a Reflection Monster, which has attracted multiple Reflection Monsters. They fight and tear at each other in the body of this poor woman, disrupting her original normal thinking ability.' *The Quibbler* editor Xenophilius Lovegood said at last night's press conference, 'The Ministry of Magic should remove her from her superfluous positions and help this lady get rid of the Reflection Monster—the Reflection Monster is an invisible monster that easily attaches to the souls of the powerful—the school is not a suitable place for Reflection Monsters to live!'"

"That's normal. Dad said before that the magazine editors at the *Daily Prophet* are just a little slow and arrogant, but when the truth of the world is clearly presented before their eyes, they will make some progress."

"*The Quibbler* is the best magazine in the entire magical world. There is nothing to be surprised about quoting the words of the world's best magazine editor, but..."

Luna shook her head calmly, glanced at the newspaper in Hermione's hand, frowned slightly, and said confusedly.

"I remember Reflection Monsters don't bite and fight. They should silently strangle your throat like darkness, making it difficult for you to breathe and then start going crazy and talking nonsense. And Reflection Monster is Reflection Monster, there is no strange name like [Unspeakable Beast]."

"It's like in class, the content the professor teaches is exactly the same, but everyone's academic performance is different."

Aileen explained casually while cutting her egg tart.

"Those reporters, editors, uncles, and aunts are hearing Mr. Lovegood's stories for the first time, and the degree of absorption and mastery completely depends on their respective comprehension. It's normal to have more or less things—don't forget, there are many similar situations in Potions class."

"But this is too incredible, isn't it?!"

Hermione said with a strange expression, looking back and forth at the newspaper in her hand several times.

"What Reflection Monsters, Nargles, Crumple-Horned Snorkacks... these sound like fictional things, and the *Daily Prophet* and *Witch Weekly* would actually publish them as opinions in current affairs news seriously and earnestly. I just don't believe it—"

Hermione glanced at Luna, who was raising her eyebrows angrily, and launched a defensive attack preemptively and forcefully.

"Unless you catch one and show it to me, otherwise those are fictional creatures that don't exist. No book has any records about these creatures, including Professor Newt Scamander's *Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them*. Aileen, these are actually advertisements, right? Advertisements planted to promote *The Quibbler*? Otherwise, this is completely inexplicable..."

"This is not an advertisement, they understood Mr. Lovegood's wisdom."

Aileen shrugged, shook the fork in her hand, and said in a mysterious and low voice.

"Hermione, remember the flashbulbs after Mr. Lovegood finished speaking last night? This is a clever adult wisdom."

At the moment Mr. Lovegood opened his mouth last night, Aileen had envisioned the possible consequences.

Misunderstanding is the destiny of the speaker, and what Mr. Lovegood really wants to describe is not that important.

What is important is how people view and understand this top media person in charge of *The Quibbler*.

The current Xenophilius Lovegood is not the crazy idealist of a few years ago.

As the ostensible helmsman and conceiver of several popular emerging sub-publications such as *A Bite of Hogwarts*, *Exploring Magic*, and *Lovegood Looks at the World*, Xenophilius Lovegood is almost a bizarre genius who is about to be deified in the news world of today's magical world.

And, as a matter of course, when people interpret Lovegood's words with such a position, wonderful things happen.

Vicious political metaphors.

This is a completely new way of publicity that has never appeared in the magical world before.

"An adult's...wisdom?"

Hermione squinted her eyes, stared at the tuft of hair on Aileen's head, and hummed unconvinced.

The little tuft of hair showed no signs of lying, which meant that Aileen was not lying to her.

And this also meant that in the long battle between "logic" and "inspiration," she had finally lost and temporarily came to an end—after all, this time her opponent was a family.

"Well, but I don't plan to teach you for the time being... those things are too dirty, too dangerous, and too early for you."

Aileen raised her eyebrows, said with a sly look in her eyes, and lightly licked her lips, "Unless—"

"It's okay, Hermione, I'll teach you. Don't let Aileen bully people!"

Before the white-haired dumpling could finish the blackmail, Luna put down the knife and fork in her hand and said to Hermione seriously.

"But I want to learn that method of quickly copying homework that you guys use in Defence Against the Dark Arts class. If I master that skill, maybe I can tell Dad this Christmas, so he won't always be pinching a quill and writing and drawing on the table—"

"With pleasure. Let's stifle this dumpling full of bad water together."

Hermione nodded happily, glanced at Aileen as if she had bitten her tongue, casually threw the newspaper in her hand on the side of the table, and sat down with Luna's hand.

There are a few things in Hogwarts that are most likely to make Hermione and others feel happy, and one of them is watching Aileen suffer a setback.

And what they didn't notice was that in the subsequent articles of the *Daily Prophet* that Hermione hadn't finished reading, there was also a separate paragraph of bold text.

"...The Ministry of Magic announced that from next week, Dolores Umbridge will temporarily cease performing her various duties in the Ministry of Magic. Therefore, she will temporarily return to the Ministry of Magic this week to ensure that she hands over or completes her various tasks and drafts within a week..."
