Mysterious Journey

Chapter 817 Hogwarts' Prodigies

The first two periods of the morning for Class A of Hogwarts second years were Potions.

Considering the time lost due to sorting, this meant that after quickly returning to the common room to grab their textbooks, scales, and potion kits, Ellena and the others had to rush non-stop towards the Potions classroom located in the basement of the castle.

At this moment, Ellena suddenly understood some of Dumbledore's calculations hidden in the "sudden attack."

Since Luna and Hannah were not in Class A, Ellena would have to move all the textbooks and teaching aids to Hermione Granger's Gryffindor girls' dormitory – unless she could overcome the intricate maze environment of Hogwarts Castle, or was willing to lose face and ask other students for help as a lost soul.

Although many young wizards had heard rumors that Ellena was easily lost, as long as Ellena didn't admit it herself and made sure that there were as few eyewitnesses as possible, it would always remain just a rumor.

Of course, today she could temporarily follow Hannah back to the dormitory, and then wait at the entrance for Hermione to pick her up for class.

"You don't seem unhappy?"

Hermione looked at Ellena curiously, as they were on their way to the Potions classroom.

"Professor Dumbledore's sorting results were different from what you expected, right? After all, you confidently announced the results in the dormitory last night, but obviously Dumbledore must have made a lot of changes temporarily."

"Of course, it's quite embarrassing to be slapped in the face like this."

Ellena spread her hands helplessly, walking forward quickly while saying with a bit of a toothache, "After all, Professor Dumbledore is the headmaster of Hogwarts, and he will definitely consider many aspects when making decisions – since everything is already set, I might as well think about how to counterattack later."

"Counterattack?" Hermione asked worriedly, "Ellena, that's Professor Dumbledore..."

"The greatest white wizard in the world, of course I know how powerful the professor is, but besides keeping a close eye on me, he can't possibly control all the students in every detail. The new students on Luna's side, the three new courses, the teaching adjustments for the upper years, the research on alchemy books..."

Ellena counted seriously, her eyes flashing with cunning light.

"Oh, right, and things outside the school. There's no way to guard against thieves for a thousand days in this world, and even if he temporarily disrupted the sorting situation, it would at most delay my plan, nothing serious."

Hermione nodded suddenly and said, "So, what are you going to do next?"

"First of all, I should find a way to convince you to switch sides and stop helping those two old guys trick me—"

"Eh? I didn't, I'm not..." Hermione blinked her eyes in a panic, her tongue suddenly starting to get tied.

"You've almost written the answer on your face. I'm neither blind nor stupid."

Ellena glanced at the silly "calculator" beside her and sighed tiredly. "Granger, you're really not suitable to be an undercover agent. Your blunt way of questioning might only fool Hannah at best."

Undoubtedly, after more than a year of infighting, Dumbledore finally found the fatal weakness of the Kaslana family.

If this despicable act of launching a wing to fight a dumpling was not jointly planned by Grindelwald and Dumbledore, Ellena could directly break Hogwarts Castle into pieces and eat them all – although she didn't know what kind of price and conditions the two old guys had offered, it seems that she is completely surrounded by little spies.

Draco Malfoy, the only one who doesn't look like a spy, is probably up to no good towards her in his heart.

As for roping Hermione into helping her lie and working together to deceive Dumbledore, the old hundred-year-old monster?

Dumbledore might not always use Legilimency, but as a senior educator who has lived at Hogwarts for almost his entire life, Dumbledore can easily tell whether a person is lying even without using magic to extract memories.

"Don't worry, I don't want to do anything for the time being."

Ellena rubbed Hermione's face and casually explained with a smile, "If there's anything I plan to do next, it's to find a way to get first place in all the classes, and then calm down to study and research magical knowledge, and enrich myself."

Hermione shook her head, broke free from Ellena's clutches, and couldn't help but roll her eyes at her.

"Humph, you think it's easy. It's not certain whether you can get first place this semester. I won't lose this time!"

Ellena's lips curved slightly, and she shook her finger meaningfully.

"Not necessarily. Before you beat me, you might have to consider how to beat Draco first – he's put a lot of effort into studying this summer. If you're a little lax, you might not even be able to beat him."

Gilderoy Lockhart edited a small section of basic magical knowledge and loaded it into Draco's memory in the form of imprinting.

Besides Lockhart and Malfoy, even Dumbledore was temporarily kept in the dark.

Regarding the practical application of memory magic, Ellena and Grindelwald held the same view... if the risk factor is low, then try it first, as for whether it is legal or compliant, that is a problem after success.

……

A few minutes later.

Hermione and Ellena arrived at the corridor outside the Potions classroom.

Besides them, the other students in Class A of the second year had already arrived early. Ellena and the others looked at each other, temporarily stopped their meaningless bickering, carefully pushed open the half-closed door, and walked into the classroom.

Unlike usual, the underground classroom was filled with steam and all kinds of strange smells.

"Oh, children, come in—"

Standing by the podium was not "Severus Snape" as shown on the timetable, but an old wizard with a walrus mustache, a big belly, and a bald head. Hermione remembered his name – Horace Slughorn, an old professor who had taught at Hogwarts and had just returned to campus this year at the invitation of Professor Dumbledore.

Slughorn turned his head to look at the entrance, smiling and greeting the two girls who were slightly late.

"Severus is temporarily unable to come today, so I'll take the class for him..."

There were twenty cauldrons between the wooden tables in the classroom, and knives and cans of ingredients were placed on the tables. Even after the class division, the seats directly in front of the podium were still empty – that was Hermione and Ellena's exclusive position.

Watching Ellena and Hermione sit down in front of him, the smile on Slughorn's face became even brighter.

Although he didn't know much about the new Hogwarts, Slughorn had heard about the talented young wizards in the school – throughout the history of Hogwarts, such outstanding young wizards were rare.

"Alright, alright, alright," Slughorn said, his walrus mustache twitching over his smiling mouth.

"Everyone, please take out your potion kits, scales, and don't forget to take out your respective 《Magical Drafts and Potions》. Professor Snape told me that you just finished the first half of the book last year—"

"Professor?" Ellena suddenly raised her hand and said.

"What's wrong, Miss Kaslana?"

"Before this class, do we have to recite 《Potions Classroom Safety Management System》 and 《Self-Mutual Inspection Management Regulations》 as a class? After all, a holiday has passed, and I think these might still be necessary..."

"Eh? Uh—what, management system, self-mutual inspection what—"

Slughorn was slightly stunned, lowered his head and looked at the parchment he hadn't seriously looked at yet.

He saw that the first item in the "job description" that Severus Snape gave him was [Recite 《Safety Management System》 and 《Management Regulations》 as a class], and a complete content was attached at the end.

"Ah, yes, Professor Snape mentioned this... In that case, children, read it once first. After a long summer vacation, these things can indeed prevent confusion in your little brains..."

Horace Slughorn roughly scanned the two documents and nodded slightly in admiration.

In the ten years since he left Hogwarts, the successor Potions Professor Severus Snape seemed to have put a lot of effort into teaching. No wonder Albus Dumbledore valued such a young professor so much. With Horace Slughorn's decades of Potions teaching experience, he could naturally see the role that these two regulations could play in the classroom.

And as the students recited the regulations proficiently, the feeling in Slughorn's heart became even more obvious.

For the first time in so many years, he felt a hint of the atmosphere he once craved in Potions class – methodical, like the order of meticulous and restrained potion preparation, rather than the chaos of searching for broken diamonds in the fog.

"Very good, very good," Slughorn said, standing at the front of the classroom, pushing his already bulging chest forward even more, the buttons on his vest were about to burst – although he had already made up his mind to face the young successor squarely, this did not mean that he admitted that those traditional advantages would be surpassed, and Potions ultimately had to be judged by results.

"As the beginning of today's lesson, I have specially prepared several potions for everyone to open their eyes, of course, most of them are just for fun. Some of you may encounter them this year, and some may have to wait until the advanced class. Now let me see your preview and basic knowledge... Who can tell me the names of these potions?"

Slughorn pointed to several cauldrons placed on the podium, some already filled and some still bubbling.

Hermione leaned forward slightly from her seat. She saw a potion inside that was as clear as water, but compared to the flames underneath, the potion was not bubbling violently, but was as silent as dead water.

Without the slightest hesitation, Hermione immediately raised her arm high.

However, Slughorn did not call on her, but pointed behind her.

"Draught of Living Death, it is a very powerful sleeping potion, powdered root of asphodel and wormwood can be combined to make it."

A somewhat familiar voice came from behind Hermione.

Hermione turned around in surprise, and saw Harry Potter stand up and answer confidently.

"Very correct, very good!" Slughorn nodded happily. "Well done, Potter, your mother was also very good at school, so now..."

He pointed to another test tube on the other side, which contained some potions that had already been filled and had a bright and dazzling green color.

Little master, there are more chapters behind, please click on the next page to continue reading, the following is more exciting!

Hermione's hand quickly rushed up again, but unfortunately, Slughorn still didn't call on her this time, because the Potions professor's gaze hadn't had time to move away from Harry Potter's direction.

"Shrinking Solution, Professor. This is what we will learn in the third grade, and yours is the most perfect form."

This time it was not Harry who answered Slughorn, but Draco Malfoy sitting next to him. The boy's pale face showed a confident expression. He politely nodded and added appropriately.

"Such a Shrinking Solution can accurately control the efficacy of the potion. In today's wizarding world, perhaps only an experienced Potions Master like you can brew such a high-quality potion..."

"Oh, child, I can't take that. There are many Potions Masters of my level."

Horace Slughorn waved his hands quickly and said modestly.

But judging from the smile on the old wizard's face, he was obviously very pleased with Draco Malfoy's words, and what made Slughorn even more excited was that there were obviously more potential wizards in this class than he had previously imagined.

"Great, great - then I'll add an extra question, um, this was originally a potion for the sixth-grade students to open their eyes tomorrow, see what this is. Of course, because it hasn't been brewed yet, so you—"

Slughorn mysteriously pointed to a small black cauldron next to his podium.

The potion in the cauldron was splashing quickly, but perhaps because it hadn't been brewed successfully, the color would suddenly change several times from time to time. Hermione, who was sitting in the front row, even saw fragments of disappeared potions flashing on the surface.

Mysterious potion that has not yet been brewed?

And also a rare potion that can open the eyes of sixth-grade students?

How could anyone guess this?

The little wizards in the classroom looked at each other, confused and shaking their heads.

Hermione, Harry, and Draco did try to guess a few potions, but none of them guessed correctly. Looking at the little wizards who were finally confused and had inquiring eyes, Horace Slughorn breathed a slight sigh of relief.

If even this potion that hadn't been brewed could be guessed, then he was really...

"This should be... Felix Felicis? The legendary lucky potion?"

Just as Horace Slughorn was about to reveal the answer, he suddenly heard a lovely voice in his ear.

He saw that the silver-haired little witch, who had been quietly like an ordinary student since entering the underground classroom, except for reminding everyone to read the rules, was gently propping her cheek with her right hand and said curiously in a low voice.

Huh? Huh, huh???

The corner of Slughorn's mouth twitched. He had only been brewing this Felix Felicis for less than a day, and she could see it?!!

This must be a wild guess?! This must be a wild guess! What a lucky...
