Mysterious Journey

Chapter 852: A Month

The Quidditch team composed of returning Hogwarts graduates quickly became the focus of most conversations.

While officially registered as the "Magical Masters Representative Team," the young wizards, and even many of the school's professors, preferred to call it the "Hogwarts All-Star Team."

Fortunately, amidst the praise and buzz, the "Moonlight Team," serving as the All-Star Team's backdrop, received little attention.

Only Marietta Edgecombe, along with the group of "former Ravenclaw Team" members who had withdrawn, and a few Ravenclaw girls who were close to her, would occasionally make sarcastic remarks at the new team, mainly targeting "traitor" Cho Chang.

"Oh, look at that, how pathetic! What's wrong, Madam Malkin's team robes not good enough—"

Whenever Cho Chang returned to the common room with her dirty Ravenclaw team robes, Marietta, sitting by the warm fireplace reading a book, would suddenly raise her voice and say loudly, "If you ask me, it's obvious that no matter how hard we try, we won't be able to beat the other teams this year—knowing that the result is destined to be at the bottom, you still want to participate? I'm not that stupid."

But other than them, no one cared whether Cho Chang was wearing Ravenclaw robes or those sponsored by Madam Malkin's.

Cho Chang's training schedule these days was as tight as it had been when she first joined the team last year.

After that crushing defeat, they carefully studied each position of the "All-Star Team."

It was an opponent worth studying like a textbook. Hermione scoured the Hogwarts library archives, found the commentary records of those older students during the championship finals, and patiently deconstructed and analyzed their techniques.

How chasers should compress the opponent's attacking area, when beaters should strike for maximum benefit, the goalkeeper's defensive strategies in different offensive formations, and how the seeker gets rid of opponents in the sky…

Unlike any team training model Cho Chang had known before, it was less like they were training for a team sport and more like a new problem-solving process—besides flying in the Quidditch field, they spent at least a quarter of their time in the locker room studying tactics and discussing and reviewing classic Hogwarts matches from previous years.

Hermione openly admitted to being a "landfowl," but no team member would despise her for it.

Since Hermione rushed into the locker room with chocolate, hot towels, and drinks when they were at their lowest, and everyone ate chocolate, replenished their water, and had a good cry, this new team that had been reorganized this semester completely recognized this second-year team coach from Gryffindor.

Aileen's mood had been quite good these days, but no one but herself knew why.

Due to her appearance causing ripples in the plot, the first-year troll attack event in the original story did not happen.

As a result, Hermione had become more aggressive and determined, but as Hermione became the "big sister" of the new students, the gentleness and care that had been buried deep in Hermione's heart finally began to bloom slowly.

On the other hand, the reform of Hogwarts' new curriculum standards had gradually gotten on track.

Professor Quirinus Quirrell's return was quite low-key.

Unlike his stuttering and insecurity last year, after half a year of "medical treatment in another place," it seemed to have completely cured the problems that plagued the young wizard. Except for the fact that his hair had not grown back, Quirrell quickly regained his previous humor.

Of course, many professors and older students believed that perhaps another reason was that he had returned to Muggle Studies.

However, compared to Quirinus Quirrell's Muggle Studies, students discussed the most were the other two new subjects offered this semester—Professor Lockhart's Grammar class and Professor Alexei's Mathematics class.

Students increasingly enjoyed the courses in Professor Lockhart's spacious and bright classroom, where they could break free from the constraints of the castle and reach every corner of the world with wonderful stories. Every time Lockhart finished telling a fantastic story, the related books in the library would be borrowed out within half a day.

For this reason, Madam Pince, the librarian, even made the extremely rare suggestion to Dumbledore to purchase books.

In contrast, Professor Alexei's course was obviously much more difficult to evaluate.

No one really liked math class, at least no student particularly liked this course.

Although the young wizards respected Alexei, and even somewhat revered this strange professor who played with "mathematical magic," they were more based on the awe of unknown, mysterious knowledge, or on the practicality of this course in some aspects.

For example, Ravenclaw students liked to go to Professor Alexei's office after dinner.

Although Professor Alexei would not directly help them solve problems, he would tell the little wizards trapped outside the common room the direction of the problem-solving, which undoubtedly increased the chances of these young eagles defeating the "Cassandra the Great Demon."

Defeating Aileen Cassandra's control of the Eagle Ring seemed to have become a new activity for Ravenclaw.

Especially after the Ravenclaw Quidditch team withdrew from the competition, the Ravenclaw students, who had lost their entertainment activities for the next year, put almost half of their energy into fighting wits with the "Aileen Cassandra" Great Demon, and the other half into collecting Hogwarts trading cards of Professor Lockhart and Professor Quirrell.

This was a new service launched by the Hogwarts kitchen, which could be obtained randomly after consuming a certain number of garden crops.

In terms of appearance, it was actually just a reskin of the Chocolate Frog's wizard card gameplay.

Of course, compared to the wizard cards with many characters, Hogwarts cards were not magical photos, but a dynamic two-dimensional stand-up display, and the magical techniques in this area were mainly processed by the house-elves under the guidance of Nicolas Flamel.

In addition to Quirinus Quirrell and Gilderoy Lockhart, the first batch to enter the card pool also included the four resident ghosts of Hogwarts, activity portrait paintings, and a few formal faculty members who were willing to authorize their personal portraits and could be produced after evaluation.

Argus Filch very much hoped to be printed on magical cards so that he could keep an eye on the students at all times.

However, considering the initial promotion issues, this project was temporarily postponed to next semester.

"Why can't you just give us a complete set of cards, Aileen?"

Hermione muttered in a low voice, somewhat complainingly, after drawing a duplicate "Fat Lady" card again.

"Also, you must have secretly adjusted the odds, right?!"

It was already tiring enough to study Quidditch tactics and complete homework every day.

And in addition to that, she had to take the time to harvest some of the crops she had planted in the Gryffindor potato field for the Hogwarts kitchen to exchange for lottery tickets—the most important thing was that in a month, she had never drawn a Lockhart card.

"No, no, Professor Lockhart is a five-star card, so the probability is 0.6%, it's normal if you can't draw it."

Aileen explained casually, pointing to the bulletin board outside the kitchen with a serious face, "Besides, there is a guaranteed draw after accumulating 18 draws, you can definitely own a five-star card in less than four months, this is written in the rules—"

Each student can exchange for a card draw or request a limited edition snack from the Hogwarts kitchen once a week.

But this is not something that everyone can easily achieve. In order to maximize the exploitation of the little wizards' energy, the exchange conditions on the bulletin board are often not just ordinary crops, but also some simple edible magical plants from time to time.

The Hogwarts students, who had never experienced so many wonderful games, were temporarily in the initial stage of game exploration.

As the "best friend of the kitchen owner," Hermione had some small privileges, but at most, it was just a slight reduction in difficulty, for example, she only needed to grow potatoes or cabbages, which did not consume much energy, to complete the task.

However, in early October, Hermione had something that would cost her even more energy.
