Mysterious Journey
Chapter 984: The Key and the Bubble
Unlike the warm and gentle Hufflepuff dormitories, the Captain's Quarters of the Hyperion boasted a decidedly more luxurious décor.
The Hyperion's Captain's Quarters was a spacious and beautiful square room. Aside from the relief sculpture directly facing the door, all the facilities, from the mahogany desk, captain's command console, conference hall, dining table, to the bedroom and living area, were complete and in miniature, with a style primarily based on the opulence of the Victorian era.
As the Goblin Empress of Gringotts, the heir to the Saints, the future guardian of Hogwarts... her power largely stemmed from the "previous dynasty."
Strictly speaking, this was almost the first truly demonic palace exclusively belonging to Ellina.
"What's that, Ellina? Your diary?"
Just then, Hermione, sitting on the swivel chair at the captain's command console, asked curiously.
After the accidental activation a moment ago, she felt her legs were a little weak, but she quickly discovered something new.
In the center of the metal platform on the right side of the Captain's Quarters, a leather logbook was neatly embedded. The cover was emblazoned with the team emblem previously used by the "Quidditch Freshmen Team": symmetrically unfolded silver-white wings. Below it was written Ellina's initials - A.K.
"Oh, that... the ship's log."
Ellina looked up and explained casually.
"That's the Hyperion's diary, recording this big guy's history from its birth to its modifications, as well as the records of each subsequent voyage and battle... most of the content comes from the translation of the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR), and some comes from the input of senior officers."
"There's only one correct way to open it. Use 'my' wand and tap it lightly with magical power."
"Hmm, and what happens if you use another method?"
"Nothing, just triggers Amber." Ellina said softly with a smile.
Hermione, who was about to touch the leather log, recoiled as if pricked by a needle, quickly withdrawing her hand.
The previous confinement experience was too terrible. She didn't plan to be "Ambered" twice in a matter of minutes - neither the dark, silent space, nor the insidious cold that permeated everything when she was swallowed by "Amber," did she want to experience again.
Hermione glanced warily at the log on the desk, confirmed that it showed no signs of activation, and asked.
"Speaking of... have you ever experienced Amber, Ellina?"
"Of course."
Ellina nodded, looking at Hermione with some confusion, "What's wrong?"
As the captain of the Hyperion, she would naturally personally confirm the safety measures on this aerospace carrier.
"Amber" was almost the most core protective measure in the Hyperion, which was a bit like the human body's immune system. Any unit labeled as an intruder would be swallowed by "Amber," protecting the internal space from man-made damage as quickly as possible.
After all, unlike the conventional anti-confrontation ideas of the non-magical world, the threat of infiltration and destruction in the magical world was too great.
Even the most rudimentary Transfiguration spell, Exploding Charm, or even some seemingly harmless spells, when applied to the Hyperion's steel frame, could cause devastating effects no less than being struck by dozens of anti-ship missiles.
"Well, when entering 'Amber,' it's more... than I imagined..."
She bit her lip, searching for the most appropriate adjective in her mind, "--uncomfortable."
Uncomfortable?
Ellina frowned in confusion.
That was a somewhat unexpected answer for her.
"Strange, I originally thought that 'Amber's' immersion mode was supposed to be the gentlest."
Ellina recalled when she had participated in the test before. In her impression, the processing of "Amber" in space conversion should be the most comfortable of the common space magic in the magical world today, because "Amber" uses a brand-new space separation method.
"Immersion... mode?"
Hermione repeated subconsciously.
With Ellina's explanation, she unconsciously rubbed her legs.
Even though she had already broken free from Amber, Hermione still felt like something had burrowed into her body.
--That cold, slightly moist, viscous strange experience.
"Yes, this is a brand-new spatial magic technique."
Noticing Hermione's small movements, Ellina nodded and explained with a smug look.
"Whether it's Apparition, Floo Network, or Portkeys, they use a compressed transmission format more when moving through space. The most direct thing is the experience, you will obviously feel your body being squeezed - and in the process of moving, the point that bears the spatial pressure is also the balance point of the transmission unit, such as the terrible mode of Portkeys that seems to be pulling on people's navels, which is actually taking the midpoint position..."
Optimizing the original spatial magic - this was the primary subject Ellina proposed in the research and development of the magical field.
In fact, this was also an area that successive Dark Lords valued quite a bit.
Whether it was Grindelwald or Tom, both of them were among the strongest wizards of their era in terms of spatial movement magic.
As the third generation Dark Lord, Ellina perfectly absorbed the advantages of the previous two pioneer dark lords. She incorporated some physical knowledge from the non-magical world into true name magic, space, defense, and restraint, and finally found a brand-new way to unfold magic.
"However, the principle of 'Amber' is different from those before..."
Ellina raised a finger and continued animatedly.
"Do you remember what Professor Flitwick taught in class about relative frames of reference?"
"The entire Hyperion ship is covered with true name locking magic, and at the same time, the entire ship is also covered with a field similar to a space anchor - you can imagine it as a big bubble - which means that when a wizard is locked, the Hyperion can establish a relative frame of reference with that wizard."
"Simply put, it is to peel off a small independent bubble with the true name as the coordinate..."
Ellina flicked her wand and conjured a beautiful soap bubble.
Immediately afterwards, a small bubble appeared in the big soap bubble, floating and shaking inside.
"Magic blooms from the wizard's body, and it will replace the original individual form, forming a space that can be selected. In this process, it is very important to allow the ship's internal space to complete 'immersion' and synchronized coordination, which is the true face of 'Amber.' The only way to resist 'Amber' is not to let the bubble form - but this is difficult, especially when you are in the Hyperion."
"So..."
Hermione's eyes flickered, and she said softly thoughtfully.
"Ellina, the method you didn't finish saying to break 'Amber'--"
"Well, use magic to drive away the 'Hyperion space imprints' that have unknowingly permeated your body. But this is more of a theoretical method, after all, even unintentionally breathing a mouthful of air will leave a seed in the wizard's body and become an entrance."
"However, it is also a protective film for the crew members."
Ellina shrugged and glanced at the slightly changed expression of the "little beaver," adding with a smile.
"If the authority is high enough, or if you hold the 'key,' you can even actively activate Amber. As for the key..."
"Key? Is this... it?"
Luna tilted her head and pondered for a moment.
Immediately afterwards, she pulled out a wand from her pocket.
A... black walnut wand.
