Mysterious Journey

Chapter 1275: The Shadow Behind the Scenes

"A Certain Scientific Hogwarts?"

Professor McGonagall repeated softly, a perplexed expression on her face.

"What does that mean, a mixture of magical and non-magical courses?"

"Well... in form, it's somewhat close... but not accurate."

Erina answered seriously, thinking for a few seconds, then gently tapped her wand at the desk behind her.

The "Empress Magic Book," shimmering with the four house colors of Hogwarts, flew over, hovering in mid-air between the two, flipping its pages rapidly.

"Science isn't technology; science is a way of perceiving and understanding the world. I'm not turning Hogwarts into a Muggle high school, merely introducing a methodology..."

She briefly explained the differences between science, magic, technology, and the occult.

This wasn't a difficult concept to grasp, especially for Professor McGonagall.

"So... so you're saying..."

Professor McGonagall frowned, thoughtfully whispering.

"Hogwarts—this magical school—we are pushing for a reform of thinking?"

The portraits on the walls of the Headmaster's office gradually awakened, watching the two witches in the office with interest.

As Hogwarts' Headmaster's think tank, Dumbledore had made a strange request upon his departure, hoping they would help evaluate and record their daily lives.

Evidently, this "temporary disappearance" was not a hasty decision—Dumbledore hoped to use this opportunity to smoothly help the next Headmaster grow.

"That's right, learning magic in a more systematic, objective, and clear way."

Erina nodded seriously, pausing for a moment before adding.

"For example, with those minor curriculum changes, a scientific way of thinking as a starting point will be more stable than mysticism, at least in the field of basic learning."

Professor McGonagall took a long breath.

"Of course," she said.

"Do you understand?" Erina asked, somewhat surprised.

"It's not complicated, Miss Kaslana... I've been teaching at Hogwarts for decades."

Professor McGonagall glanced at Erina, clearly looking somewhat offended.

"I can still notice the changes in Transfiguration class, whether it's systematic cognition of things, or simulating transformations in advance..."

"A scientific way of thinking is obviously beneficial for students to sort out and understand, which is much better than simply vague explanations. That's the purpose of teaching."

"I thought you would be more repelled by this, after all, in the eyes of many people, it's like an invasion from the non-magical world."

Erina exhaled softly, looking at Professor McGonagall with some worry, and said cautiously.

"You know what I mean by this, right? I mean, the pressure—"

"Yes, I understand. But as the Deputy Headmistress of this school, I have no choice, do I?"

Professor McGonagall raised her hand and rubbed her forehead helplessly, as if she could already see the tide of doubts and pressure coming in the future.

In the original plan, these should obviously have been faced by Albus Dumbledore himself.

Compared to Dumbledore, whether it was seniority, social status, or even personal strength... she was far too inferior.

"Frankly speaking, I'm not sure if I can withstand the doubts from the outside world—"

"Speaking of which, what is the Ministry of Magic's attitude?"

Professor McGonagall changed the subject, looking at Erina and asking with confusion.

"Do you—I mean, Professor Dumbledore—mention anything about the Ministry of Magic's movements?"

"Most of my news comes from Kingsley Shacklebolt, he is also a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Of course, perhaps you already know that?"

Erina frowned, glanced at Professor McGonagall, bit her finger and continued.

"From the current situation, the Ministry of Magic obviously wants to interfere with the school... but they didn't directly appoint a Headmaster, but instead created a new 'guidance' Headmaster."

"That's not surprising, I think it's very reasonable." Professor McGonagall said, "The Ministry of Magic has always hoped to be able to intervene in Hogwarts, but Cornelius Fudge is also very afraid of Dumbledore. As long as Dumbledore hasn't really left, then he won't dare to touch the Headmaster's position at will... Erina, do you really not have Dumbledore's contact information?"

She glanced at the phoenix perched on the bird stand not far away, pretending to doze off, obviously a little suspicious of the old wizard's "escape from the golden cicada shell" authenticity.

"Well... really don't have..."

Erina snorted softly, put her hands on the desk, and jumped down.

"Old Hot Radish has really evaporated this time... he doesn't even want Fawkes..."

She had tried the shortcut of using the phoenix to find someone at the first time, but Dumbledore had obviously considered this before "running away."

There was another Dumbledore within the Hogwarts range. When she begged Fawkes to send a letter to Dumbledore, the little phoenix would only fly to Hogsmeade village.

"But you don't have to worry, this time the Ministry of Magic is led by Mr. Scrimgeour—Umbridge is just an advisor."

Erina tapped her finger lightly on the letter on the desk, and said in a relaxed tone.

"Mr. Shacklebolt said that Mr. Scrimgeour is a very upright, serious, and trustworthy senior Auror, he won't mess around at the school."

"Yes, I have no doubts about that."

Professor McGonagall nodded, not to mention that the Auror Office led by Scrimgeour had a good reputation in recent years.

Just the fact that Rufus Scrimgeour personally participated in the Basilisk siege operation some time ago, and was at the forefront, was enough for Professor McGonagall to roughly understand the other party's character.

"But being transferred from the Auror Office to Hogwarts as a guidance Headmaster, this should not be Mr. Scrimgeour's intention, right?"

Professor McGonagall fiddled with the letter thoughtfully, "The Ministry of Magic, well, or rather the magical society... is something difficult to deal with happening?"

It should be noted that just at noon today, Ministry of Magic officials were still jointly encircling and suppressing Voldemort's remnants of soul.

In less than half a day, the head of the Auror Office quietly resigned, which was obviously abnormal.

"I don't know the specific situation, but I heard it's related to the attack on the Ministry of Magic."

Erina didn't turn her head, walked to the bird stand, began to tease the phoenix, and casually replied absentmindedly.

"Kingsley didn't explain too much in the letter, only said that he would know after reading the newspaper tomorrow. I think the Ministry of Magic should already have a solution."

McGonagall looked at Erina rather suspiciously, and didn't continue to pursue the matter.

For some reason, since Dumbledore left, she saw a trace of Dumbledore's shadow on this little witch.

Compared to her as the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts, Erina seemed to be the real acting Headmaster.

Whether it was the special permission of the Headmaster's office, the phoenix, or even Erina's unintentional control of the overall situation, and the style of speaking and doing things, it was too similar.

And the more important point was...

McGonagall now felt more and more clearly that there was an even more mysterious and deep connection between Erina and Dumbledore.

Ever since she learned about Erina's relationship with Gellert Grindelwald, she had been suspecting that there was a mysterious organization similar to the Order of the Phoenix among the top wizards, after all, all indications showed that Erina was not as simple as she looked.

A Certain Scientific Hogwarts may just be one part of it.

More things are likely to involve the world outside Hogwarts.

Unknowingly, there may be some stormy seas brewing outside that the teachers and students in the school don't know about...

Professor McGonagall talked with Erina about the teaching arrangements for the next few weeks with a heavy heart, and left the office with a random excuse.

A sense of unease was sprouting in her heart. She couldn't imagine what kind of thing would make Dumbledore make such a strange decision in half a day—Dumbledore was definitely not the kind of irresponsible wizard, something serious must have happened.

Obviously, this may also be an important reason for the Ministry of Magic's strange personnel transfer.
