Chapter 274 - Sköllvindr Armor — The Armor that Devours the Sun

Chapter 274: 274 - Sköllvindr Armor — The Armor that Devours the Sun

"Sköllvindr Armor — The Armor that Devours the Sun

I designed the first stage of this armor when I was about your age, maybe two years older. At that time, I already knew there was still plenty of room for improvements, and so I didn’t give it a name.

After my battle against Orsted, and after learning about Rudeus Greyrat’s Magic Armor, I had many new ideas and, as I learned more techniques, I kept refining it constantly.

The Sköllvindr I use today is absolutely exceptional and tailored to my fighting style, so it will not fit you at the moment.

So, with the help of Rufus and one of my sons, I split the design of my current Armor into three stages: Ascendant, Transcendent, and Divine.

I did this mainly because many materials I used to build it are not available to you right now.

Things like the core of the final boss of the Inferno Labyrinth or the Gravity Sword Kajakut will not be easy for the current you to obtain.

These tiers also offer progression based on your own current power, ensuring the armor grows with you and adapts to you.

What I mean is: there is no point in me telling you to add the feature of piercing dimensions more easily if you haven’t even mastered Teleportation Magic yet, understand?

There are some features that only make sense if you master the corresponding skill. It would be like giving wings to someone who hasn’t learned to walk yet — just weight and unnecessary risk.

Anyway, you will be able to modify it easily along the way if you follow the specifications.

In fact, by building everything as best as possible from the start, chances are high that your Sköllvindr will reach an even more perfect level than mine.

After all, we created it from scratch, and some mistakes were inevitably made.

Well, having come this far, I will briefly explain about Sentient weapons. You are not really aware of this yet, but your sword, Doomsday, is a sentient weapon.

For a weapon or non-organic physical object to reach a state of sentience, only one thing is necessary: mana.

I’m not talking about ordinary amounts, but an ocean of mana, something around 100 magic cores of adult Blue Dragons, if you know what I mean.

If an exorbitant amount of mana is used in the creation of an item, and it has a clear and concrete purpose, the chances of that item developing sentience are 100%.

For example, Doomsday’s purpose is to purge all things with its flames, to burn and melt everything in its path.

It just hasn’t ’grown’ enough yet to discover its purpose consciously. But don’t be mistaken, that will already exists in the heart of the blade.

The Fighter God’s Armor’s objective is to defeat all opponents. So, once it masters a user, he will fall into a maddened frenzy, unable to stop until he crushes every opponent before him.

As you can see, everything depends on the initial purpose.

Orsted’s Godsword is also sentient, but I know little about it. Just enough to understand that its will is not active, but passive.

Following this design, Sköllvindr will certainly gain sentience as well.

And it is important — vital — that it maintains the same ’purpose’ it had in my life.

The purpose is very similar to that of the wolf Sköll from our previous world, the wolf of Norse mythology that chases the Sun. Its purpose is to ’devour the sun’.

Basically, it absorbs the heat and light of the entire environment indefinitely if left uncontrolled. It is also in this way that it restores and regenerates its structure.

I think you’ve already guessed why it ’must’ keep this purpose. Both Doomsday and Sköllvindr are complementary if used correctly.

It was those two items that made your victory against the Technique God possible.

They are two instruments of absolute destruction; with them joined to full strength, you can become the strongest man in the Six-Faced World.

Well, now, having guided you on that, let’s talk about the materials you’ll need to gather before starting the project.

Remember that even before finding the materials, you should hand this design to Godbard and Rufus to study in advance, because it will really be very complex for you.

If those two start studying ahead of time, they can anticipate failures and even suggest practical changes without compromising the central idea.

In your time, Brightstone should still be alive. Ask his opinion too. Those three — Godbard, Rufus and Brightstone — are trustworthy. You can rely on them without worry.

Okay, here it is, the basic materials to construct the Sköllvindr Armor, Ascendant model:

Mana Heart of the One-Eyed Giant, Esterópes.

Your secondary sword, the Silver Blade Water Mirror.

Fragments of the Silver Blood and Gold Bones Armor....

....Scales of the Mutant Lampardo Lizard.

The list is long, but each of these materials has its importance.

In my time, I didn’t give any special importance to the forge, I only knew enough to think and give my opinion.

Not because it wasn’t crucial, but because time always pressed me to devote myself more to becoming stronger in combat.

That was the path I followed.

Rufus would know better than I in many technical aspects of construction. In fact, it was he, along with one of my sons, who wrote most of the modified design for you, Youngar.

But if you want to delve into the path of forging, then you will certainly go further than I did.

Maybe the Sköllvindr you create will not only surpass mine, but reach an even higher degree of perfection.

Now, let’s go to the intended effects and reinforcements for the Ascendant Sköllvindr Armor. They are as follows:

Integrated Communication: the Arcane Call device will be available to speak with allies even during combat.

Partial Magic Nullification: as an effect similar to Esterópes’ strange ability, spells will lose part of their strength when colliding with the armor.

Clear Mind: like the effects of the old Water Mirror sword, your mind will be clearer, more focused and concentrated. This will be reflected directly in mana control and manipulation, making them more refined, faster and more efficient. Not only your magic, but also your Touki will be faster. Even your senses — sight, hearing, perception — will be amplified, allowing immediate responses.

Physical Enhancement: similarly to the armor used by Galgard, Sköllvindr will provide an enormous overall physical boost. Strength, speed, senses, reaction time and power — everything will be improved. But here, to a degree even greater than the treasure of Milis could offer.

Impact Reduction and Weight Manipulation: intricate circles of Gravity Magic will be integrated into the structure, drastically reducing the impacts suffered. In addition, they will allow the user to manipulate their own density to some extent, becoming faster by becoming lighter, and making their strikes heavier by becoming dense.

Sun Devourer: as an armor whose purpose is to devour heat and light, Sköllvindr will have enormous resistance and adaptability to Lightning and Fire. More than that: it will be able to absorb these elements and thus become even more powerful amid battles dominated by flames or electrical discharges.

Disadvantages:

Weak Will: If you can’t fully control Sköllvindr’s will, you may end up charred, melted, or vaporized when using it.

Mana Requirement: It was created for you to use to its full potential; simply moving it costs a huge amount of mana. With its efficiency, you can still use it for a relatively long time without using the most mana-draining abilities, but if you do use them, you’ll need to manage your mana expenditure.

Destructive Potential: Thanks to its massive physical and magical buffs, it’s nearly impossible to fight alongside allies. Only a few very strong ones will be able to do so in the future.

In general, this was the Ascendant Armor.

There are also two additional designs beyond your Armors at the end.

There’s the Hativindr Armor, Anchor model.

It was created by Rufus to be a scaled-down, accessible version for warriors like Jino, Ghislaine, and Eris, who are excellent swordsmen but don’t have as much mana and don’t use Magic.

And besides that, there’s the Hativindr Armor, Siphon model, also created by Rufus.

It’s also a different scale, but more geared toward those like Aisha and Taes, who use Magic and swordsmanship, but not at the same level as you.

Now, comes the complicated part. Let’s start with the magic circles that will keep the core stable.

---

Rygar skipped most of the complex designs. He would have time to study them more deeply later.

Still, even with a quick, superficial glance, he could already understand how complex those designs were.

Symbols, combinations of runes, intersections of magic circles, magical patterns that Rygar didn’t even recognize.

The last time he had seen something of that degree of complexity was when he observed the internal mechanisms of Milis’s Magic Towers.

But even those structures could not be directly compared to what was in his hands now.

Even with the level being similar, only differing in their purposes, the Armor had to balance all the elements and unstable materials used, while the Tower was relatively simpler in that regard.

A single failure could mean total instability of the Armor.

But still, the more he looked at the pages, the more it was hard to believe that it could fail.

When he finished reading the last notes about Sköllvindr — mainly the Divine model — Rygar was seriously astonished.

His future self... was practically a God while wearing that armor. There was no other way to describe it.

He even seriously doubted how Orsted could fight that irrational monster he himself supposedly would become.

It was hard to believe that the being described could be himself in the future.

Rygar imagined that if the Dragon God’s full strength were the same as Oldgar’s, then a fight between the two would be nothing less than a cataclysm.

At the same time, he understood that his training would not be his only focus.

His training, yes, would need to be accelerated and taken seriously.

But there would also be another parallel race, just as important: the creation and improvement of the Armors.

Each stage, each new version of Sköllvindr that he was able to build and use at its maximum potential would mean a direct leap in his battle strength.

It was, indeed, like a hack. Exactly as he had imagined when he was thinking about his magical items. But the effect was even more absurd.

Gradually mastering the techniques described in the Guide, wielding Doomsday, raising Sköllvindr over himself, and still remaining hidden from Hitogami’s eyes, Rygar began to feel some confidence again.

Whether they were Gods or not.

Whether they were Dragons or Men.

Who could resist the Apocalypse Beast?

He would bring destruction to all who dared stand in his way.

That thought reached his heart when his eyes reached the end of the Sköllvindr armor designs.

There, there was an isolated note:

"You fool! Must be getting arrogant again! What are you imagining? You haven’t even killed Esterópes to build the first Armor! Chill out and stay in your lane."

Blood rose to his face in embarrassment, and Rygar grit his teeth. That future self seemed to be trying to get him upset on purpose.

Then he continued, now in a more normal tone:

"Now, these are suggestions. From several people, not only mine. Take them seriously and reflect on your current life, and how each suggestion applies."

Turning the page, Rygar realized he was at the end of the Guide. Few pages remained. And the title of the new section was:

"Suggestions From the Future For an Easy Life."

He frowned.

"Seriously... who is inventing these names?"

He muttered softly, shaking his head.
