Chapter 922: Co-operation.

However It wasn’t done with its counterattack yet, the male caterpillar advanced with movements like a sword dance, though no blade was in its hand, still yet its arms flowed with precise, fluid gestures as it pressed forward.

In the next instant, the surrounding sand around it began to stir unnaturally, reacting to its rhythm.

Before the golems could fully process what was happening, the creature stomped its right foot into the ground and spread its arms wide.

The sandy terrain responded at once, as countless spikes of solidified earth erupted upward, sharpened to lethal points, and launched into the air like arrows, nearly a hundred of them flew toward the golems at blistering speed.

Each golem responded instinctively, Titan disconjured his mace as it shattered before he crossed his arms before him, summoning a massive ice shield to absorb the barrage.

Legion tossed a small cube forward, which expanded into a glowing energy barrier that encased him completely.

One after another, the golems deployed their defensive spells, but even so, the impact sent them staggering backward, flung several meters from where they stood.

When their focus snapped back to the caterpillar’s position, they realized its form had already changed, sand had swirled violently around its lower body half, lifting it off the ground in a miniature storm, giving it the eerie look of a genie hovering in mid-air.

The male caterpillar wasn’t simply reckless, it showed a frightening degree of intelligence, it had already fought the golems earlier and was aware of how resilient they were first-hand, so definitely it knew that spreading its attack like this wouldn’t be enough to truly damage any of them, however that was never its aim.

Its singular purpose has always been Alec, the creature had recognized Alec as the core and master of the golems.

It already understood that by eliminating Alec, the golems would lose their power and collapse, that was why it unleashed the spread of earth spikes—to stall, to buy just enough time to launch itself high into the air and rush directly toward Alec, vengeance blazing in its eyes for the kin Alec had slain.

Alec swung his scythe in a backhand arc, deflecting the bone axe hurled toward him, but the instant he did, he realized the caterpillar demonic beast which was now in its humanoid form had almost closed the gap between them, it was coming with its fist driving straight at him.

“Great sword,” Alec commanded, and the blood scythe warped instantly, reshaping into a massive great sword, a mirror of the weapon he had pictured in his mind.

Without hesitation, Alec raised the great sword like a shield before him, just as a colossal hand of solidified sand, larger than his entire body, slammed into him, the impact detonated with a thunderous boom, blasting Alec downwards.

As a streak of black light traced across the sky as he plummeted, like a meteor crashing to earth.

High above, the caterpillar extended its right hand, causing the bone axe, which had been spinning freely in mid-air, abruptly halted and curved back toward its master, gripping it once more, the creature swung downward, aiming to strike directly into the crater where Alec had crashed into.

But Titan burst from the ground, dragging his reconstructed ice mace behind him, he launched upward, knowing full well he lacked the momentum and brute force of the caterpillar, whose swing carried the weight of gravity from above and the fury of a Tier 7 demonic beast, yet Titan cared nothing for odds, only for his master’s survival.

Ice clashed against bone in mid-air, as sparks of raw energy erupted, Titan’s side shimmered with pale blue light, while the caterpillar’s side radiated deep, earthen brown.

Titan’s arms quivered violently under the pressure, cracks snaking across his ice mace as the caterpillar pressed harder.

“I’ll break you back into pieces!” The caterpillar snarled, its bone axe glowing with a dense brown Qi that surged with crushing force, but Titan wasn’t simply holding on, black ice had already begun to creep along the axe’s surface, seeping into its very structure, spreading its corruption inch by inch.

“Legion, fuck you! How long do you plan to waste time?” Titan roared, completely ignoring the caterpillar’s taunts as he cursed at Legion, the partner he had prepared a combo attack with, a few meters away, Legion grinned, his Grenade launcher humming in Cryo mode, powered by a massive surge of ice mana.

“I’m ready now, you can disengage!” Legion shouted back, causing the caterpillar demonic beasts to snap its head in his direction, suddenly realizing it had completely ignored the other golems in its bloodlust for Alec it snorted lightly.

“Where are you looking when you’re still fighting me?” Titan growled, his battered mace, which was on the verge of shattering, suddenly flared with a brilliant icy-blue glow.

BANG!

The weapon detonated in a violent burst after Titan self-destructed it instead of waiting for it to crack.

The shock wave blasted Titan’s body down into the earth, as icy fog swallowed the entire battlefield air where the clash had taken place.

“Arrghhh!” A guttural cry rang out as brown Qi surged in all directions, scattering the fog, the humanoid caterpillar figure emerged, its right arm completely encased in blue ice, while black frost crept across part of its bone axe, weighing it down slightly.

Still, the beast tightened its grip, determined to keep fighting despite the burden.

Unlike human mages who relied on mana for spells, this demonic caterpillar drew primarily on its Qi, and With its natural Qi having earth affinity, it could easily pull on the earth elemental particles in the air whenever he attack and reinforce his strikes to have spell powers, all he did was use minimal mana to support his Qi control.

This was the reason Titan’s black ice hadn’t spread further, as the beast’s reliance was on Qi not mana which reduced its vulnerability.

Even so, Titan’s sacrifice had slowed its momentum, halting the killing blow aimed at Alec.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Just as the caterpillar tried to flood its right arm with Qi to melt away the encasing frost, a muffled series of detonations rumbled across the battlefield, forcing its attention back toward Legion.

Legion had just fired his weapon thrice , and each shot launched three shells that arched through the air toward the caterpillar, unaware of what dangers the shells had, the humanoid caterpillar demonic beast casually swiped its left hand, using it mana to conjure a massive and durable earth shield to block the “funny-looking” projectiles.

Even if they seemed odd, the caterpillar wasn’t about to take the hit head-on, but the moment it used mana to bolster its defence, the black ice on his battle axe which he was gripping with its right arm spread slightly after draining some of the mana that spread across its body, dragging the limb lower as the bone axe’s weight caught it off guard.

That was when the first shell landed.

BOOOM!

The explosion shook the air, shards of ice scattering from the impact, yet before the creature could stabilize, the second and third shells slammed into the same spot in rapid succession.

BOOM! BOOM!

When the final blast subsided, the aftermath revealed a frozen figure plummeting from the s

ky, its entire body encased in jagged frost, like a living ice statue.
