Chapter 712: Garrett Not Advancing? Locked Up Upon Return!
"Has Garrett arrived in Nevis yet?"
"He should arrive in two or three days, Master," replied Archmage Byerbo respectfully. Thank heavens, the Master has finally come out of seclusion...
Or rather, the Master has safely emerged from seclusion. Complete, whole, and full of spirit, with no missing limbs, and the meditation realm seemingly intact. Honestly, they had been on edge the entire time.
All thanks to Garrett, who caused the Master to go into seclusion repeatedly. This kind of meditation, deeply tied to one’s spell path and involving fundamental changes in worldview, was incredibly risky!
Yet, Garrett was still oblivious! He was entirely engrossed in his hospital, researching cesarean sections, and even went to the capital! Luckily, the Master came out of seclusion and still remembered to ask about him...
"Has that kid advanced?"
"He hadn’t when he left for the capital, Master," Byerbo carefully spoke on behalf of his junior brother.
"Before he returned, in the last communication, he hadn’t advanced either. He’s still a level six mage. But he has been very busy recently; he just performed surgery on the Queen, so he probably hasn’t had time to consolidate his recent gains."
"Oh..."
The Lord of Thunder lowered his gaze slightly, and a faint crackling sound still lingered in the air around him. This time, his seclusion had yielded significant results, especially after directly sensing the electronic elements. His long-stagnant realm had shown signs of loosening. If given another two years, he might ascend to a higher level.
And all these discoveries were brought by Garrett...
So he must not be allowed to be idle! The Lord of Thunder thought with some frustration.
The major project on cesarean sections was complete, and he had visited the capital. Everything that needed to be done and seen was finished. It was time for him to focus solely on meditation and advancement!
Also, how was his project on measuring blood potassium and sodium levels progressing? Garrett had intended to use this magic as a cornerstone for his advancement... But there had been no related papers recently...
"When he returns, tell him to see me immediately. If he hasn’t advanced by then, he will stay in the Tower of Thunder and won’t be allowed to leave until he does!"
"Yes... yes!"
Archmage Byerbo immediately bowed his head in agreement. From then on, all the disciples bowed their heads, silently mourning for Garrett:
Junior brother, it’s not that we don’t want to help you. The Master has given a strict order. If you don’t advance, you’ll be locked up!
Why didn’t we get such treatment... Whenever we had trouble advancing, we had to cling to the Master for guidance, but we were never urged to advance or locked up for slacking...
Fate is truly different for everyone!
But the Master’s orders were absolute. The students had no choice but to comply. The senior brother pushed the second senior sister, the second senior sister pushed the third junior brother, and eventually, the unfortunate Archmage Carlisle was sent to the dock to pick up—or rather, drag—Garrett...
Who knew if Garrett would obediently follow him?
Who knew if Garrett would be whisked away by an urgent family matter as soon as he arrived at the dock?
Who knew if Garrett would simply refuse to disembark and vanish directly...
Archmage Carlisle, experienced in dealing with Garrett, went straight to the dock. The ship, as expected, arrived on time and docked smoothly. As soon as it was stable, the casters on board disembarked one after another—
First, an Enchantment mage and an Evocation mage supervised knights carrying an iron maiden-like box, handing it over to the emergency management team;
Next, priests from the main temple of the Spring Goddess in the capital, who were greeted by their colleagues from Nevis, preparing to worship and rest at the temple before heading to the Oak Grove Clinic; ꭆ𝔞Ν𝖔βËS
Then, priests from the Church of the God of Nature, nurses, and midwives Garrett had taken out...
Where was Garrett?
Where was his Silver Moon Deer mount?
Where was that barbarian bodyguard?
Most importantly, where was the little Silver Dragon?
—Could it be that Garrett, unable to submit his paper and fearing the Master’s wrath, had fled with his group?
Archmage Carlisle silently grumbled, then leaped onto the deck. As soon as he landed, he sensed something unusual:
What was in the cabin?
Deep within the ship’s hold, there was something...
What was this fluctuation?
The captain, sweating profusely, rushed over:
"Archmage, are you here to pick up Mage Nordmark? He’s meditating and doesn’t know how long it will take. He’s occupied the cargo hold... When can our ship leave?"
In the lower cargo hold, Garrett sat with eyes closed, unaware of the commotion. A day ago, he had just completed the verification of his new blood test magic and then finished the final touches on his paper:
"Thus, it is inferred that stimulating metallic elements or solutions with certain energy can make them emit visible light. The wavelength of this light is related to the nature of the metal element, unrelated to the solution concentration, and unrelated to the intensity of the stimulating energy..."
"The intensity of visible light is unrelated to the nature of the metal element, related to the solution concentration... Specific formulas require further calculation..."
As soon as he put down the pen, his mind relaxed, then tightened. The familiar, grand fluctuation surged from all directions. He should be advancing now... Wait, this place is unsuitable!
On the swaying ship, in the recently repaired narrow cabin... None of this mattered, but there was no energy supply!
No mage tower to provide energy!
Never mind, just advance here, can’t hold it in... Can’t wait two more days until landing, then hide in the mage tower for a peaceful advancement...
"Cirilla, please guard the door and don’t let anyone disturb me," he calmly requested.
"I think... I’ve finally touched the threshold of advancement..."
Closing his eyes, he plunged into darkness. The rich world will poured in, into his body, into his meditation realm, lifting him higher and higher, deep into the more hidden layers of this world.
Absorbing the world will, infusing it into his spirit, into his meditation realm, into his body...
The powerful fluctuation attracted the attention of all the casters on the ship. Nurse Sally, Joanna, and several high-level casters exited their rooms, and the first thing they saw was Bernard standing guard at the cabin door:
"The boss is advancing!"
Advancing. No wonder. The casters dispersed: Retreat, retreat, cannot disturb now. Interrupting someone’s advancement could cause a lifelong grudge!
The entire ship became unusually quiet. The casters moved lightly, avoiding noise; even the sailors were informed by the captain to keep silent. However, in the middle of the night, a loud noise suddenly exploded:
"Hurry! Find me a spacious room!" Cirilla, using a floating disk to carry Garrett, rushed out with a silence barrier around them, anxiously looking for space:
"It must be wide enough! Block the door! No one but Garrett and me is allowed in!"
The captain rushed out to guide them, leading them to an open area in the hold. Cirilla placed Garrett in the center, stationed Bernard and Appa at both entrances, and then—
She took a deep breath, reverted to her true form, and lay quietly beside Garrett.
A vast elemental force naturally surged, forming tides around Garrett.
