Chapter 1662: 557. Felix’s Book · The Wrath of the ‘Khan

Murphy’s sudden appearance at the critical moment of the battle was no coincidence.

In fact, upon reaching Baphomet’s Palace and discovering that Triss and the others had not appeared, Murphy decisively summoned George. Leaning on the incredible sense of smell of the Star Realm Wolf, he delved deep beneath the palace. He wasn’t just arriving in a crisis moment; he had already stealthily entered the cathedral when Triss was controlled by the Decree of Corruption. As he said, heroes always need to appear at crucial moments to turn the tide.

So the Vampire Lord took some time, meticulously selecting the right moment to make his entrance.

The maze wasn’t originally so easy to navigate, but fortunately, Miss Winnie summoned a Minotaur, whose unique scent made it easy for George to track the path.

Luckily, he arrived just in time. Otherwise, with the sub-space corruption levels in this cathedral, plus the malice stirred up by Baphomet, the Evil God, even if Palano managed to kill the sacrilegious priest, it would likely have been a Pyrrhic victory.

As Triss said, for these real “Fallen,” the difference in power levels is no longer the key to victory after being blessed by the sub-space shadows. The worst possible outcome would be Palano defeating the sacrilegious priest only to be seeded with the Seed of Corruption himself, which would be a disaster.

Murphy really didn’t want to execute the somewhat admirable mad Rose Knight through Omega’s power here. Nor did he want to personally explain to Lord Paryen why his First Lord inexplicably died in the evil palace of the Goat Man.

“That power on you… I saw it once before, in the Blood Vulture Corridor. I couldn’t confirm its relation to you back then, but this time, I’m sure.”

Palano, spiritually weak but not truly injured, found it hard to be genuinely harmed due to his Golden Rule·Guardian, but he felt dizzy and was afraid excessive movement might ruin his perfect image, so he leaned on his lance and said to Murphy:

“I need to report this to Lord Paryen. Your power, which can contain and defeat sub-space corruption, is crucial to our cause. Forgive my disclosure, Murphy, but this is an advantage that cannot be hidden.”

“It doesn’t matter, go ahead and tell. I’d be happy if my status in Lord Paryen’s eyes were higher, so he wouldn’t hesitate when I apply for aid. Besides, I suspect I’ll ask him some rather impolite questions when we meet.

Better to build rapport now to avoid being speared to death in anger by the Lord later.”

Murphy sat on the only intact stone chair in the cathedral, resting and toying with the Civilization Slate in his hand. Without lifting his head, he told the Rose Knight:

“As for the true essence of this power, I will personally explain to His Excellency when I see him. However, considering you were ‘purified’ just now, you’ll need some rest. My power suppresses not only sub-space but also dark-aligned forces.

So, don’t take it lightly, Palano.”

“Hmm.”

The Rose Knight nodded, glanced at Hog beside him, asked no more, slung his lance over his back, and placed his hands on the shoulders of Muni Chong and Winnie, escorting the two little ones, who kept looking back, out of the cathedral.

Clearly, the gentle and considerate Rose Knight didn’t want these brave little ones to hear the ensuing conversation.

It’s a form of protection – those heavy secrets aren’t for their level. In the chaos of this continent, every secret carries weight; it exacts a price and sacrifice.

Standing beside Murphy, Triss was still perusing the shattered grimoire dropped by the sacrilegious priest, casually casting a silent barrier to prevent eavesdropping.

Big Wolf George sat at Murphy’s feet, using his claws to toy with the purified skull of the Fallen, a “new toy” to bring back to his lair in the ancestral forest, certainly boosting the head wolf’s authority.

Meanwhile, the King of Bone Biting, controlling Hog’s body, sat cross-legged before Murphy, waiting for the Vampire Lord to start asking questions.

This spectral remnant from the past seemed prepared to answer all of Murphy’s questions.

But the vampire didn’t speak immediately; instead, he stared at the irregular slate in his hand. It was his first time seeing a complete Civilization Slate. He casually used an Item Identification on it, and the entry unfolded in the next moment:

Name: Wolf People Civilization Slate·Eden Security Personnel Regulation Ds-04 Protocol

Quality: Miracle Object

Effect:

1. Once the slate is owned and bound, the holder is granted the title of [Wolf People Civilization Spokesperson], with nominal command and control over all Wolf People.

Upon entering any creation site, they receive the [Special·Spokesperson] authority, gaining access to part of the creation facilities and decoding and reading some specific creation knowledge.

Note!

This binding authority applies only to individual Wolf People and does not involve inheritance.

2. Once the slate is owned and bound, the holder is granted the special entry [Power of Creation·Evolution], providing a one-time “Choose Evolution” right to select and integrate one enhancement gene sequence from the options open on the slate.

Each holder can evolve only once.

The evolution process must be completed in a standard or advanced bio-chamber at a creation site.
