(Extra update for “Huo is pretty good” brother [5/20])

Murphy and Triss had completed everything they needed to do in the swamp ecology zone. Logically, they should have left at night to head to Shadow Valley to continue dealing with matters that urgently needed solving there, but the two did not rush to depart. Instead, they waited until noon the next day.

Murphy bought some fresh ingredients at Wolf Castle and then used the kitchen in the Land of Creations to prepare a rather sumptuous lunch for himself and Triss.

The two had been happily enjoying some couple time when the flying assistant Iron Beetle brought in a “visitor application.”

It was Shani who arrived.

Both parties had previously agreed to this; Shani needed to enter the Land of Creations to see if she could resolve the entanglement of those visions belonging solely to the Bloodline Duke that had been endlessly troubling her.

Although Triss told her that this thing was impossible to dispel, the Thorns Duke, already tormented to near mental collapse, stubbornly wanted to try.

She was now standing at the entrance of the museum, raising her head to survey this secret area hidden for millennia. As a Gold Stage assassin, Shani maintained her proper caution and did not proactively touch any part of the heavy door before her, patiently waiting for Murphy to come and receive her.

Patience, the quality of which Shani is proud.

Rising from a fallen royal family to the present Bloodline Duke is entirely reliant on her superior qualities, at least that’s what she believes.

After a few minutes of patient waiting, the iron door in front of her slowly opened, and Murphy, dressed in a long and tasteful curator’s uniform, greeted Lady Shani with a smile as the “host.”

Triss, wearing a silver-gray office outfit, looking both smart and dignified, stood behind Murphy donning rimless gold glasses, holding an assistant’s tablet.

Her enchanting face bore a maliciously amused smile.

“I am really pleased to guide you through here, Lady Shani, but the rules are the rules.”

Murphy regretfully pointed to the registration device at the door and said:

“First-time visitors to the museum must remove all spiritual energy items on themselves for security reasons. It’s not that I’m deliberately being difficult; when Triss and I first entered, we pretty much stripped off all our clothes.”

“Oh my, I’m so sorry I forgot to tell you about this rule earlier.”

Triss pushed her glasses up and added fuel to the fire:

“My dear Shani, if you want to come in, you have to take off your clothes first. Don’t worry, I won’t let little Murphy peek.”

“I’m a gentleman, how could I do such a thing?”

Murphy huffed, pulling out a cloth to cover his eyes, and even turned around raising his hands to show his innocence, but Shani got very annoyed by this act from the duo.

She also wanted to force her way in, but as soon as she stepped forward, the awkward situation that happened to Triss last time ensued.

In the flickering red light, a virtual prohibited marker was generated, accompanied by a harsh warning sound as over fifty different kinds of long and short weapons popped out from the steel walls, instantly locking their aim on Lady Shani.

The terrifying threat sent a chill down the spine of the Thorns Duke.

Her assassin’s instincts told her that while these things might not kill her, they would definitely inflict injuries severe enough to require decades, maybe even centuries of recovery, and this was just the first line of defense in the Land of Creations.

Even breaking through here would be meaningless as there were surely more dangerous things waiting ahead.

“So what are you waiting for?”

Triss said triumphantly with her hands on her hips:

“Hurry up and strip! Don’t be afraid, I’ve prepared spare clothes for you.”

“I see, you did it on purpose, Triss.”

Shani rebuked indignantly:

“You two did this deliberately, just to make a fool out of me! I’ve never heard of anyone facing such an embarrassment while exploring other Lands of Creations! Did you design it like this on purpose?”

“How can other places compare to ours?”

Triss adjusted her decorative rimless glasses, elongating her words:

“As an assistant, I’m warning you, the Marsh Museum is one of the few Creations on the continent still functioning properly, and the mysteries you wish to discover are hidden here.

Look, I informed you yesterday to bring Jealousy Fragments of your Thorn Clan, didn’t I?

Don’t tell me you didn’t bring them?

If you want to see the ancient memories hidden in the vampire heritage, you’ll have to pay some price, won’t you?”

“To be precise, it’s for the candidates of the Thorn Clan.”

Murphy, eyes wrapped with a cloth strip, explained:

“This is the ancient secret we discovered in recent days; holding the Jealousy Fragments only proves you are the Thorns Duke, but to truly obtain the bloodline inheritance of the Thorn Clan, you must complete the candidate ritual here.

I have completed that ritual.

I saw in it some memories of the Blood Vulture elder Salockdale from the past Era, and I have to say, those memories are quite heavy.

They not only took away my appetite but also helped me understand the true sins represented by those fluttering visions. I guess Grand Duke Oksana certainly left something similar within the Thorn Clan bloodline in the same way.

Lady Shani, so I need to update the agreement between us!”
