Chapter 1390: Chapter 1374: The Giant Turkey (Part 2)

Song Xiaodong didn’t walk far ahead; he stopped in front of a nearby bush. The leaves there were quite large; if gathered together, they could barely serve as clothing.

But just after picking three leaves, Song Xiaodong suddenly turned and leaped away, startling Qingluan, as a monster emerged from the bushes.

How to describe this monster? The most fitting analogy would be a giant turkey, standing over two meters tall.

It stood on two feet, its enormous claws resembling steel hooks, with some feathers mixed with mammalian hair on its body.

Especially its huge beak, which looked quite terrifying.

Qingluan let out a breath of relief, thinking it was some monster, but it was just a big bird. Moreover, she hadn’t seen anything besides fish these past few days, so seeing another creature gave her an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

Song Xiaodong was, on the other hand, quite tense. From the moment the giant bird appeared, he felt a great sense of danger, for although it appeared to be a bird, its beak and claws indicated it was definitely a fierce, carnivorous bird.

Chapter 1375: The Crazy Primitive People

The big bird tilted its head, staring at Song Xiaodong for two seconds, then suddenly lowered its head and pecked at him with lightning speed.

Song Xiaodong had been on guard; he dodged backward, avoiding the attack of the giant bird.

The bird missed, leapt into the air, and its claws aimed for Song Xiaodong.

Once again, Song Xiaodong dodged, a bit annoyed. Truly, it was like being bullied by a dog after the tiger had lost its power; even a big bird came to give him trouble.

As he dodged, he moved to the side of the bird, throwing a punch to its abdomen.

“Thunk!” With a muffled sound, Song Xiaodong’s punch hit the target, but the bird’s feathers provided a significant buffer, making him feel like he hadn’t hit it solidly.

Even if the punch wasn’t solid, it was definitely powerful, not something a regular thing could withstand.

Yet the big bird was only knocked slightly aside by Song Xiaodong’s punch. It landed steadily, cried out strangely, turned, and lunged at Song Xiaodong.

Song Xiaodong, unconvinced, couldn’t even handle a big bird and continued to engage with it.

The big bird attacked purely on instinct, pecking with its beak and clawing with its talons, but its movements were incredibly swift, out of proportion with its large body.

Yet, it was still just a bird; though its movements were swift, they were predictable. Song Xiaodong quickly adapted to its attack style, making dodging quite easy.

But as he attacked, the bird’s defense was astonishing, preventing him from harming it, even though he provoked its fierceness, attacking and screeching.

Qingluan initially watched with disdain, but after a while, she became somewhat startled. The bird’s defense was impressive, making it troublesome to dispatch. A bit of carelessness could lead to severe injuries from a peck or a claw.

She was pondering how to solve the problem when Song Xiaodong suddenly turned and ran toward the mountain wall, a clear sign of fleeing in defeat.

This puzzled Qingluan. Even if Song Xiaodong couldn’t defeat the big bird, there was no need to flee, right?

But Qingluan soon understood why Song Xiaodong did so, as several more of the same big birds emerged from the bushes. These birds lived in groups.

It’s tough dealing with one, let alone so many. What better choice is there besides fleeing?

Song Xiaodong reached the base of the mountain, quickly climbed into a cave, while the birds, unable to fly, jumped high but couldn’t reach the entrance, wandering around the mountain wall before diving back into the bushes.

Song Xiaodong and Qingluan returned to the Crystal Cave, where Qingluan suddenly burst into laughter, saying, “Hey, you were really lame just now, chased away by a few big birds.”

Song Xiaodong rolled his eyes and said, “These creatures are fierce, mainly because their defense is incredible. Those feathers deflect most of my power, making it hard to hurt them.”

Qingluan scoffed, “That’s because you’re stupid.”

Song Xiaodong shook his head, smiling, “If you think I’m stupid, why don’t you try it yourself?”

“Hmph, I’ll try, but I don’t have any clothes right now, so it wouldn’t be comfortable to go out. You get me some clothing first.”

Song Xiaodong had picked some leaves earlier but dropped them after encountering the giant bird.

“I’ll go over later. If only to pick some leaves, it would be easy without trying to fight them.”

After resting for a while, Song Xiaodong sneaked into the opposite cave again, where the birds latched onto him as if waiting for him.

However, Song Xiaodong had changed his strategy, and this time he didn’t confront them directly, using his agile movement technique to dodge their pursuit while picking leaves.

This way was much simpler. Before long, Song Xiaodong had gathered about ten leaves and some thin vines, then climbed safely back to the cave entrance.

He tossed the leaves on the ground, and Qingluan immediately picked them up and wrapped them around herself.

Song Xiaodong fixed his gaze on her.

“What are you staring at? Look again, and I’ll dig out your eyes.” Qingluan glared fiercely at Song Xiaodong.

“I suddenly regret fetching those leaves; now I can’t see your body,” Song Xiaodong admitted his lament without hesitation.

Qingluan wrapped the leaves around her and felt much less restrained. Proudly, she said to Song Xiaodong, “Hmph, you’ve watched me for long enough. Be satisfied, you shameless fellow, and cover yourself up.”

Without anything covering her earlier, Qingluan felt normal seeing Song Xiaodong, but now with something on her body, looking at him made her feel inexplicably shy.

Song Xiaodong chuckled, wrapped the leaves around his waist, then tied them with a vine, forming a small pair of shorts.

“Hehe, I suddenly thought of a cartoon,” Song Xiaodong said, glancing at Qingluan.

“A cartoon? Do you have to be so childish?” Qingluan rolled her eyes at Song Xiaodong.

“The Croods, ever seen it? It’s a fun animated movie about the life of a primitive family. I realize now that we look like two primitive people; the only difference is we haven’t had kids yet. If we did, we’d resemble them even more.”

“Go to hell! I’d never have kids with you.” Qingluan kicked at Song Xiaodong.

The kick lacked power, even though it hit Song Xiaodong, no force was exerted. Song Xiaodong suddenly grabbed Qingluan’s foot.

“Ah! You…” Qingluan shivered as a tingling sensation spread from her foot.

“These past days, I’ve been focused on digging, and I forgot about this. Now I should enjoy myself.” Song Xiaodong said, already caressing her foot.

“Let go, let go of me.” Qingluan’s foot was her weak spot; Song Xiaodong’s touch seemed to drain her strength, almost causing her to fall.

Song Xiaodong twisted his body, sat down, causing Qingluan to fall onto him, ending up sitting on his lap.

“Let go of me, you bastard, I’ll kill you.” Qingluan raised her hand to strike Song Xiaodong’s head.

Song Xiaodong didn’t flinch, instead lowered his head and kissed Qingluan’s lips.

“Mm…” Qingluan made a small noise, her mouth opened involuntarily, allowing Song Xiaodong’s tongue to slide in.
