...

___

The group paled as they looked at the monsters. Level 50 monsters were practically giants standing at more than seven meters, which was over two stories tall!

They were ugly quadrupedal creatures with large heads, which made them look extra huge at that height. They had sharp scales at the back, horribly scary faces, and massive mouths.

How large were their mouths? They looked like they could eat humans like popcorn...

These bastards were rare even in Cities, but they might’ve used all their plot armor back in Bleulle...

Bang, Bang

Even their footsteps felt like mini explosions. The plants—or whatever—were underneath and could only be squashed to death.

"Go," Gregor said as he stood above the moving carriage. "I can handle this. You will only be troublesome," Gregor said, as direct as always, as he jumped off the carriage and stood between the moving carriage and the approaching beasts.

"Let’s meet up in that place!" Rin yelled just before they got too far, and Gregor just waved them off.

Anyway, a battle at this level wasn’t something level 30s and below like them could handle, so it was better for them to just run away.

BANG!

Things happened quickly. One monster immediately lunged toward Gregor, who avoided it, while the other tried to run after the carriages instead.

However, a sudden invisible wall appeared in front of it, pushing it back and causing it to screech.

[Wind Wall]

This was a technique that created a vertical blanket of condensed air in a certain area, creating a wall that decompressed when touched, which in turn would create a slight explosive effect that pushed it away.

It only lasted for a second, and it didn’t affect the monsters much at all, but it was enough to keep attention on him.

KKRRRRKKKKKHHH!!

The same wind wall dissipated in contact, but a portion of it seemed to roll back, hitting the other monster on the head.

KKRRRRKKKKKHHH!!

"I am your enemy," he said, though they would not understand him. "I am more than enough to take you down."

When he said this, he summoned huge winds—tornadoes—from above, smacking the two monsters down.

BANG!

Both of their ugly faces ate the ground and the shrubs, the impact creating its own wind.

KKRRRRKKKKKHHH!!

Like this, Gregor caught the full attention (correction: ire) of both monsters.

The two lifted their heads, angry, and lunged at him one after the other. He avoided their attacks while throwing some of his own, hitting their weaknesses, though sadly, one-shot kills weren’t possible for monsters of this level.

This portion of the battle lasted several minutes, as the two sides were nearly at the same level. Rather, because Gregor was human and was one versus two beasts, he—at least on paper—was actually at a slight disadvantage.

Still, unlike the monsters that started to get wounds, Gregor was only a bit tired. Monsters were just physically superior, and directly butting heads with them was a waste of energy, so he weakened them bit by bit instead, avoiding the attacks that could cause him damage.

He wore them down bit by bit, adding wounds and cutting ligaments when he could.

While fighting against huge monsters was scary for others, it was also a good chance for Gregor—who was level 60—to stretch his muscles. A good fight at his level was too rare. Ironically, to maintain good health and life at his level, going through a few life-and-death fights was somewhat necessary.

Of course, this was not common practice at all, and most powerhouses preferred to stay within the territory and simply absorb aether crystals. In this case, Gregor was really far superior to many others, even those several levels higher than him in terms of level.

The only downside was that, even if this fight was challenging to him, because the level difference was high, he wouldn’t gain any numerical EXP or monetary gain. He’d still get fighting experience and exercise though, and that was enough for the old man.

BANG!

At some point, Gregor was thrown tens of meters away by a quick flick of a monster’s tail. However, he used his excellent balance as well as his wind ability to regain his bearings.

He stared up at the two beasts several times his height, and were running towards him while he was balancing himself. Wind surrounded him then, causing all the trees and shrubs to rustle, and he shot up just as the monster’s teeth landed where he had been.

KKRRRRKKKKKHHH!!

The creepy guttural cry of the monsters echoed once more, but Gregor’s face was unchanged. He floated several meters above ground, just above the monsters’ heads. He jumped over one that tried to bite him, using it as a bolster instead.

He swung his weapon, using his weight—as well as his own elements—to add momentum and sharpness.

[Sky Rend]

SLASH!

Blood splattered as a large wound appeared on one of the monster’s faces.

KNNNRRRRKKKHHH!!!

It flurried about wildly, going berserk, blindly following his scent to eat him up.

But the thing about wind elementalists with good control was that they could redirect their own scent elsewhere. It took some mana and control, but catching the right time, it was an effective strategy.

Gregor placed his scent on the other monster.

KNNNRRRRKKKHHH!!!

Gregor watched as the berserk monster attacked his ally, and it responded in kind.

Gregor landed on one of the trees and let them weaken each other. He also ate some of the mana cookies he had in his space. Although it had little effect on his recovery, considering his level, he could use all the mana recovery he could get.

Although he was ten levels higher than a monster, it’d take him too long if he didn’t use up a majority of his mana at this juncture. He had carriages to catch up to, after all.

While the two monsters were biting each other, pulling each other’s scales and skins, Gregor took the time to use most of his mana to form a near-solid manifestation of the air around him.

Soon, a sharp spike several meters tall and about half a meter in diameter appeared above them.

The air was very dense, as if the molecules in the air (he learned the term from the Grandmaster’s constant mutterings) were so condensed that the leaves that flew in its direction were all cut neatly.

He swung his hand down with one clean movement, and this invisible spike fell down on the beasts, right when they were on top of each other, skewering them.

[Spear of Tempest]

SPLASH!

BOOM!

The spike of condensed air decompressed and gave a small explosion that came from inside the monsters, finally causing critical damage.

And two monsters died, just like this.
