Chapter 1632: Chapter 1651: Driving People Out
“Nonsense!” Huo Beijiang was most sensitive about anything relating to eyes; anyone who dared to mention it in front of him was courting disaster! Nobody could bring it up, not even Nan Fei herself, as it would upset him.
Nan Fei reached out and pinched his muscular arm twice, but the muscles were too tense for her to squeeze properly. Still, it successfully comforted Huo Beijiang, making the man in a bad mood show a slight smile.
“When I could see you with my eyes, I was infatuated with you every day. Now that I can’t see, my resistance to beauty has actually increased.” Nan Fei deliberately hummed through her nose twice, and sure enough, someone directly leaned on her shoulder, laughing very joyfully, his breath lightly brushing against the exposed skin, causing tingling waves.
Nan Fei instinctively shrugged her shoulder and urged, “Weren’t you going to leave? Why haven’t you left yet? Lu Jin has been waiting outside for quite some time.”
“What did Little Deer say?” Huo Beijiang’s thin lips brushed against Nan Fei’s ear, deliberately exhaling into her ear canal as he spoke. Seeing the skin beside his wife’s ear slowly blush red, he pursed his lips, smiling charmingly and seductively.
“Said you were slacking off, outrageous.”
“He wouldn’t dare.” Huo Beijiang’s simple three words were filled with an overwhelming arrogance, “But my dear, you’re truly adorable; I don’t want to leave anymore.” If possible, he wanted to stay by his wife’s side all the time.
“Hurry up and go!” Nan Fei began to chase him away.
“Alright, alright, wait for me obediently to come back.” After speaking, he printed a kiss on Nan Fei’s forehead, then turned his head, his sharp, hawk-like gaze landing on Millie, who had shrunk as she entered.
Millie shivered as her peripheral vision caught the sight of the cold-faced, determined, and deep-gazed second-in-command quickly leaving. Whether to be puzzled or composed was unclear, but she certainly felt more envy.
She looked at Nan Fei, her gaze full of envy. It was unbelievable for a woman to obtain such deep affection from the second-in-command, making him seem like a completely different person when in her presence.
Nan Fei was actually full earlier; she had been pretending to eat seriously, entirely to compete with Bei Jiang.
But it was good that she won, which put Nan Fei in a very good mood. A small victory marked a good start, preventing herself from being completely dominated by him in the future.
“Do you envy me?” Nan Fei finished the water in her cup, got up gracefully without facing Millie’s direction, and walked straight out.
“No, I don’t.” Millie was so frightened she panicked, denying without knowing what to say, stepping forward trying to assist but was refused by Nan Fei.
“No need, I can walk on my own.”
“Okay…” Millie looked at Nan Fei in admiration. She had seen many people who were blind before. In war-torn places, deaths and disabilities were most common. But the people she’d seen were entirely different from Jiang Nanfei. They were desperate, insane, gloomy, hysterical, doing anything while struggling on the brink of death.
Yet Jiang Nanfei showed none of these negative emotions; she was even more optimistic and strong than normal people, though there was someone who could support her for a lifetime, she stubbornly adapted to living without sight.
“Not seeing, doesn’t the whole world appear dark to you, are you afraid?” Millie thought to herself, and at some point, she unwittingly voiced her concern.
Nan Fei paused, a hint of blankness and fleeting sorrow crossed her delicate and beautiful face. But that emotion was so transient it flashed by in a moment, too quick for Millie to even catch sight of.
