Chapter 1484: Chapter 1503: Changed A Lot
"Tell him to make sure those protecting Nan Fei in secret clean up their trails. Now that she’s been pulled out of the swamp, I won’t allow her to face any more danger." Otherwise, all his planning would have gone to waste.
"Understood!"

On the rooftop, Kaka tossed the binoculars over to Burbank behind him. The faint smile that had lingered on his face moments ago slowly froze, transformed into a deep, chilling expression with a faint trace of violence. He simply stood there, the scorching Kannaya sun beating down on his head, yet exuding an aura as cold as ice.
When Burbank caught the binoculars, he couldn’t help but shiver.
Damn it! It’s over. The Tyrant was angry.
"Burbank."
"Here, Your Majesty the King." Burbank wore an expression of obsequious reverence, trembling in fear. No outsider would ever guess that the infamous first confidant of the Tyrant would turn out to be someone like him.
"Have you seen a king like me? Half of Kannaya’s land is in the hands of the rebels." Kaka let out a cold scoff. The oppressive aura of someone in power made even the nearby loyal confidants breathe carefully and timidly.
Burbank forced a smile onto his face. "Your Majesty, we will definitely wipe out the rebels, just like we did before." He had immense confidence in Kaka, and with Huo Beijiang now involved, he was certain the two of them working together would secure ultimate victory.
"The Second is getting soft," Kaka said, gazing out into the faraway desert with an enigmatic demeanor. "This time, he’s come back... different."
"Uh..." Such a statement was impossible for him to answer. Say the wrong thing, and his own life might be at risk.
"By the way!" Kaka suddenly asked, "What about that woman clinging to the Second? Does he like her?"
Kaka never concerned himself with such trivial matters. Back when he ordered the hostage kidnapping, he had tossed out the command casually—he couldn’t care less about who got captured.
"Uh..." Burbank racked his brain for an answer, then suddenly realized Kaka’s implication and replied hesitantly, "Well, how should I put it? I understand Your Majesty’s meaning. That woman has been clinging to the Second constantly. If this were the Second from a few years ago, he’d have thrown her away and left her to fend for herself ages ago. But this time it’s entirely different. Even though he obviously finds her annoying, he has stubbornly protected her and won’t let anyone touch her."
Burbank understood better than anyone what kind of place this was. Any woman who ended up here would inevitably face a fate of degradation and violence. If she managed to scrape by with her life, it was already a miracle. Yet the Second had issued orders to protect that Ding Jiaqi woman.
Otherwise, how could she act so recklessly and self-important now?
"Just as I thought." Kaka’s fingers twitched uncontrollably. "The Second is hiding something from me."
"That can’t be, right?" Burbank jumped, startled. "Your Majesty, do you not trust the Second?" Back then, half of Kaka’s kingdom had been conquered by the Second. Without him, all of them would’ve long been dead.
In those years fighting side by side, a profound bond of trust had formed. Even the Tyrant wouldn’t betray such a bond lightly.
"Of course not." Kaka’s gaze turned cold as he shot Burbank a sharp look, sending a chill down his spine and sweat breaking out across his back.
"If you dare speak words like that again, I’ll kill you." When Kaka said "kill," he meant it—there was no trace of jest in his words.
The Tyrant Kaka never joked.
"Y-yes, yes, yes..." Burbank stammered, utterly terrified. He dared not say a single wrong word. What he truly feared was time; if Kaka started mistrusting the Second, it could lead to disaster. If they fell out, wouldn’t that give their enemies the perfect opportunity?
