boundless azure sky stretched infinitely, with clouds floating serenely, occasionally stirred by gentle breezes that swept across the vast grasslands below, creating undulating waves of green that extended to the horizon.
Suddenly, a sharp ripping sound pierced the heavens. The fabric of space began to ripple violently before a colossal, pitch-black spatial gate mysteriously emerged, suspended in midair.
Moments after the appearance of this spatial gate, figures began to step out one by one, eventually standing amidst this unfamiliar world.
"So this is the Lei Realm? The density of energy here is astounding—several times greater than the outside world!"
"It truly lives up to its reputation as a domain accessible only to Dou Sheng-level experts. Such mastery of space is nothing short of miraculous."
As the astonished murmurs of the crowd spread, three figures—Mo Yu and his companions—stepped out from the spatial gate. Feeling the intense energy saturating this land, Mo Yu’s brow arched slightly.
"The energy here is astonishingly rich. Training here could accelerate progress by at least twice as much compared to the outside world.
These ancient imperial clans not only possess extraordinary innate talents for cultivation but also have access to such blessed lands. It’s no wonder they thrive so effortlessly," Xiao Yixian remarked, inhaling deeply as a look of awe crossed her face.
"This space is like an entirely separate world. Though its area isn’t as vast as the Dou Qi Continent, the concentrated energy makes it far more potent.
Training here truly offers twice the results with half the effort," Mo Yu agreed, nodding thoughtfully.
Suddenly, a distant rumble of thunder echoed from beyond the horizon.
Everyone turned to see a massive thundercloud, thick with terrifying arcs of lightning, surging toward them like a tidal wave that filled the sky.
"What is that?"
Mo Yu narrowed his eyes at the thundercloud, and a moment later, his pupils contracted sharply. "Flying warships?"
Others with sharp eyesight noticed it as well, exclaiming in surprise. The thundercloud was, in fact, formed by ten enormous warships flying in formation. Surrounding the warships, countless bolts of lightning crackled, exuding an awe-inspiring majesty.
"Rumble!"
The thundercloud approached, carrying its overwhelming presence, before coming to a gradual halt above the sky. An aged voice echoed from one of the warships.
"Welcome, honored guests. Please board the ships."
As the voice faded, the thundercloud split open, revealing a path leading directly to the warships. After a moment of hesitation, some individuals took the lead, flying up to one of the massive vessels.
Mo Yu and his companions followed the crowd, stepping onto one of the colossal warships.
Upon boarding, the sheer size of the vessel became apparent. Despite their presence, the passengers seemed insignificant amidst the warship’s grandeur.
All around the ship, soldiers of the Black Demon Army stood guard, armed with long spears. Their defenses were impenetrable.
Once everyone had boarded, the aged voice resounded again. Shortly after, the ship trembled, and the surrounding spatial waves began to ripple intensely.
"A warship capable of traversing space..."
"Hehe, these warships are relics passed down by the Lei Clan from ancient times. They are known as Shuttle Void Boats. In terms of speed, not even peak Dou Zun experts could match them.
However, such vessels are incredibly rare nowadays. Aside from the Lei Clan, only the Gu Clan and the Hun Clan possess them," a chuckle suddenly came from behind Mo Yu, interrupting his musings.
Turning around, Mo Yu saw an elder clad in black robes standing there with a friendly smile.
"Thank you for the information, Senior," Mo Yu replied, sensing no malice from the elder. He cupped his fists in polite gratitude.
"Hehe, no need to be so formal. I am Lin Zhentian, an elder of the Lin clan of the Lei Clan. Incidentally, our clan has a long history of intermarriage with the Mo Clan, so we share a close bond. I was intrigued to hear that such a remarkable talent as the Black Thunder Captain has emerged from the Mo Clan, so I came over to greet you," the elder said with a smile.
"Oh, an elder from the Lin clan..." Mo Yu’s eyes flickered in surprise. Among the various clans of the Lei Clan, he had already encountered the Mang clan several times, including Mang Ting, Mang Dian, and even the Jia Nan Academy’s headmaster, Mang Tianchi.
He had also met members of the Mu clan, such as Mu Mang in Demon Thunder City. However, this was his first encounter with someone from the Lin clan.
"Hehe, no need to be surprised. My Lin clan has maintained strong ties with the Mo Clan through generations of marriage alliances. Naturally, I pay close attention to the accomplishments of your clan. To see someone of your caliber emerging from the Mo Clan is truly surprising," Lin Zhentian explained, seeing Mo Yu’s curiosity.
"I see..." Mo Yu nodded, feeling more at ease.
Given that this was the Lei Realm and Lin Zhentian was an elder of the Lin clan, it was unlikely he would deceive him.
After pondering for a moment, Mo Yu cupped his fists again and asked, "Elder Lin, may I ask about the current state of the Mo Clan within the Lei Clan?"
Although Xiao Yixian had previously gathered some information about the Lei Clan, such internal matters were tightly guarded secrets that outsiders couldn’t uncover.
While Mo Yu didn’t hold deep feelings for the Mo Clan, he considered the possibility of leveraging its resources if the circumstances were favorable. Thus, he seized the opportunity to inquire.
Lin Zhentian paused, stroking his three-foot-long beard. After a moment, he replied solemnly, "Such information is usually restricted to the Lei Clan, but since you are both a Black Thunder Captain of the Black Demon Army and a member of the Mo Clan, there’s no harm in telling you.
To be honest, the Mo Clan is currently in dire straits. If not for the emergence of a prodigy like yourself, it might have already been stripped of its status as one of the four subordinate clans."
"Stripped of its status as one of the four subordinate clans?" Mo Yu’s expression shifted slightly, a flicker of surprise flashing in his eyes.
The Mo, Mang, Mu, and Lin clans, as the four vassal clans of the Lei Clan, were its four great pillars. Their status within the Lei Clan was extraordinary, and their strength in the outside world was no less than that of the One Hall and One Tower.
Yet now, the Mo Clan had fallen to the point of facing expulsion from the vassal clans. One could only imagine how far they had declined.
"The situation for the Mo Clan is truly that dire..." Mo Yu murmured gravely.
Lin Zhentian nodded and sighed, "For centuries, the Dou Di bloodline of the Mo Clan has been thinning. To this day, the lineage has birthed barely any exceptional talents.
"Coupled with the dwindling number of their aging experts, the Mo Clan’s current strength in Central Plains wouldn’t even rival the so-called Two Sects.
"You should know, the four vassal clans are the Lei Clan’s pillars, crucial to its power. Yet now, the Mo Clan no longer merits that honor.
"Many elders within the clan have already proposed removing the Mo Clan from the vassal clans and selecting a new one to replace them. Were it not for the Patriach’s favor of your talent and your engagement to Miss Fei’er, the Mo Clan might have already been ousted."
With that, Lin Zhentian let out a sigh, his gaze shifting toward Xiao Yixian and Qing Lin beside Mo Yu.
These two stunning beauties, even to someone as experienced as him, were dazzling. To think Mo Yu kept such exceptional companions by his side.
Recalling Mo Yu’s identity as the fiancée of Patriach’s daughter, Lin Zhentian couldn’t help but wonder if such behavior was truly appropriate.
Mo Yu, however, paid no mind to Lin Zhentian’s thoughts. Narrowing his eyes, his mind churned with calculations.
In truth, the decline of the Mo Clan worked in Mo Yu’s favor.
Only in such a state would the Mo Clan rely on him even more, giving him the leverage to seize greater power within it.
If he could establish a firm foothold in the Lei Clan, the position of Clan Leader might not be attainable, but becoming the head of the Mo Clan was certainly within reach.
Mo Yu understood deeply that the Dou Qi Continent was not his end goal. Beyond this world lay the vast Great Thousand Worlds.
In another timeline, Xiao Yan and Lin Dong had broken through the limits of the lower planes, journeyed to the Great Thousand Worlds, and established monumental forces like the Endless Fire Territory and the Martial Realm.
For Mo Yu, venturing into the Great Thousand Worlds and creating his own legacy was an inevitable pursuit.
The Yuan Manor was too weak to support his ambitions. If he could conquer the Mo Clan and perhaps even the entire Lei Clan, this mighty and ancient race could become his loyal followers, paving the way for his conquests in the Great Thousand Worlds.
"Thank you, Elder Lin, for sharing these insights." Mo Yu reined in his thoughts, cupped his hands, and expressed his gratitude to the black-robed elder before him.
Lin Zhentian stroked his beard, smiling. "No need for thanks. Given the relationship between our two clans, the decline of the Mo Clan is something I deeply regret as well.
"Fortunately, the Mo Clan has produced a talent like the Black Thunder Captain. As long as you perform well in the upcoming Captain’s Assessment and marry Miss Fei’er, the Mo Clan should be secure for the next century."
Mo Yu nodded slightly. "Since I hail from the Mo Clan, though I’ve never lived among them, it’s only natural for me to contribute to their cause."
Just as Mo Yu finished speaking, a rumbling sound echoed in the air.
"Boom!"
Hearing the sound, Mo Yu was momentarily startled, but Lin Zhentian smiled. "No need to worry; we’ve arrived."
Above the horizon, dark clouds churned as a massive warship slowly came to a halt over an endless plain, drawing countless gazes from below.
Gathering at the bow of the ship, the passengers looked down at the boundless plain, sensing the powerful auras emanating faintly from within it.
Many secretly marveled. The Lei Realm’s stronghold truly lived up to its reputation. The number of powerful individuals here was terrifying.
As Mo Yu and his group stepped off the warship, it was gliding through the skies. His gaze was drawn to the ground below, where an expansive city of immense proportions stretched beyond sight.
Above the city, countless beams of light rose into the sky, intertwining to form an enormous array that enshrouded the city in a protective barrier.
The grandest city Mo Yu had ever seen before was Yuan City.
But compared to this city beneath his feet, Yuan City paled in comparison.
"This city is called Tian Lei City, the largest city within the Lei Realm. However, this is not our destination," Lin Zhentian’s aged voice sounded beside him.
Following Lin Zhentian’s gesture, Mo Yu shifted his gaze beyond Tian Lei City.
There, a massive mountain range loomed, its peaks towering like spears piercing the heavens.
These mountains were steep and imposing, resembling colossal dragons entwined in the heavens and earth. A fierce and sharp aura emanated from the range, causing a faint sense of dread to rise in those who gazed upon it.
"Welcome to the Lei Realm." Lin Zhentian smiled faintly at Mo Yu.
With a wave of his aged hand, a small flying ship appeared, and he invited Mo Yu’s group aboard.
"As per my old friend’s instructions, once we arrive in the Lei Realm, we will first escort the Black Thunder Captain to the Mo Clan’s territory. Is that agreeable?" Lin Zhentian asked, smiling at Mo Yu.
Mo Yu paused momentarily before nodding.
As a member of the Mo Clan, it was only fitting to first assess the situation upon arriving in the Lei Realm.
Xiao Yixian and Qing Lin naturally had no objections, trusting Mo Yu’s decision.
Seeing their agreement, Lin Zhentian smiled, stroking his beard, as the flying ship began gliding deeper into the mountain range.
Mo Yu watched as ripples spread through the space ahead, like water disturbed by a stone. As the ship passed through, the scenery among the mountains began to transform.
Palatial structures emerged amidst the verdant mountains, with countless jade pavilions and towers gleaming like gemstones. Floating boulders formed pathways connecting the various buildings.
It was a scene of grandeur and magnificence.
What stood out most to Mo Yu and his companions, however, was the energy permeating the air. The sheer density and purity of the energy far surpassed any place Mo Yu had ever visited.
The energy seemed to form a faint mist that flowed gently among the mountains.
Occasionally, figures could be seen flitting between the peaks, and numerous flying ships passed through the air. Yet Mo Yu couldn’t shake the feeling that countless eyes were observing their ship as it traversed the range.
Guiding the ship through the mountains, Lin Zhentian finally brought them to a towering peak within the range.
The peak stood straight like a sharp blade piercing the heavens. Above it, the clouds seemed to part, as though pierced by an invisible, razor-sharp force.
"This is Mo Mountain, the ancestral land of the Mo Clan. The old master of the Mo Clan is likely waiting for you there, Mo Yu."
