Xia Yu didn’t know that Bals had the ability to teleport, but she was convinced that this cunning man wouldn’t simply choose to flee after having ambushed her multiple times. So, when Pei Yan gave chase, she was on high alert. As expected, Bals targeted her once again.

Being toyed with repeatedly, as if she were an easy target, was infuriating Xia Yu. Nearly exploding with rage, she retaliated by flinging Bals away and then controlling two ice pillars to attack his flanks.

The ice columns, under continuous pressure and breaking, turned into icy shrapnel, finally penetrating Bals’ inner defense. The two ice spikes pierced his body, driven further by Xia Yu, resulting in Bals being sliced in half with a crackling sound.

This time, Xia Yu didn’t look away. She watched in shock as Bals, split in two and falling from mid-air, began to heal. Tiny thread-like strands, similar to blood vessels, emerged from the wounds of the severed body, reconnecting the two halves, even before hitting the ground, and his body started healing rapidly.

"You were right, he truly possesses such a monstrous self-healing ability!" Xia Yu exclaimed, wide-eyed, watching Bals rise slowly from the ground, and spoke to the astonished Pei Yan who had drifted by his side.

"This is no longer surprising. He can teleport too. What kind of powers does he have? Body enhancement? Super regeneration? Teleportation? This exceeds the capabilities of a typical superhuman, unless he’s mastered a method to steal others’ abilities like the Bureau has. If that’s the case....", Pei Yan said, scanning around with a grave tone, "We must capture one alive to interrogate."

Though they were talking, Pei Yan’s hands didn’t stop. He raised his hand and fired two electromagnetic cannons at Bals. After the smoke cleared, Pei Yan narrowed his eyes in shock, seeing a thin light shield around Bals as he emerged from the smoke.

Thud! With a dull sound, their fists collided mid-air, and Bals sneered, "Looks like my invisibility measures have no effect on you!"

"How can you deploy a Daoist Plane defensive array?" Pei Yan asked, throwing a punch as their figures crossed paths.

"Surprised? Then let me surprise you more!" Bals evaded Xia Yu’s sneak attack and leaped back swiftly. Once steady, he howled up to the sky. His newly healed, smooth skin began to swell and crack as his height increased, soon sprouts of fur emerged like bamboo shoots after rain, transforming Bals into a humanoid tiger-like figure standing before the two.

But that wasn’t the end. He reached into a dimensional ring and pulled out a set of talismans, slapping them onto his body. As the talismans burned fiercely, he took out a pill and swallowed it.

"Watch out, he’s about to explode!" Having witnessed Shitang Longsi consume the same pill twice, Pei Yan turned and warned.

Pei Yan thought this was Bals’ final trump card, but unexpectedly, it wasn’t over. A faint light flashed, and more than a dozen talismans appeared in Bals’ hands.

"Heh heh heh!" Bals stood still, shaking his head with a cold laugh, "We’re different from Shitang Longsi, Hartman. They’re arrogant! Proud of their lineage, origin, and abilities, unwilling to undergo transformation! And what was the result?"

His face, now severely animalized, turned more hideous. Losing patience, Pei Yan raised his hand, unleashing two electromagnetic cannons combined with a metallic storm.

Bang! Bang! Bang! A series of attacks were intercepted entirely by a light wall after Bals threw out two talismans. Seeing this light wall, Pei Yan’s face turned ashen, a bad premonition lingering in his heart.

"The result is they all died! Or they should die!" Bals roared, throwing out one more talisman, continuously forming Dao Seals with his fingers and chanting.

In Pei Yan’s astonished gaze, the talisman transformed into a ball of flame, falling upon the ice. Suddenly, the ice beneath them trembled, and robust tree branches emerged, breaking through the ice towards Pei Yan and Xia Yu amidst an otherwise plantless landscape.

"This is fucking ridiculous! How can he cast Daoist spells!" Even though Pei Yan had speculated, seeing it with his own eyes left him overwhelmed with shock, shouting in disbelief.

"This! This! This is impossible!" Xia Yu, equally shocked, exclaimed by his side.

Indeed! Xia Yu was right; this was impossible! On their first day with the Bureau, Hu Wenjun warned them repeatedly that those with superpowers could not learn spells from other planes, a divine restraint. Those who defied it all suffered backfiring deaths.

Using the same plane’s inner source to activate talismans for simple sealing and enhancement wasn’t a challenge for the Bureau. Anyone with an inner source from the Daoist Plane could do it with practice, limited to activating Magical Artifacts and external sealing talismans.

No one had ever succeeded in casting Magic Talismans through spellcasting, and all who tried paid a heavy price.

But Bals achieved it!

"Screw this damned world!" Despite shock, Pei Yan quickly composed himself after a brief cold spell, rapidly retreating with Xia Yu, transforming his arms into long blades to fend off the ceaseless branches.

Quickly, though, he found he didn’t need to hack them anymore, as the oily branches were suddenly engulfed in flames. The intertwining, twisting branches ignited like fiery dragons encircling Pei Yan and Xia Yu.

With swift decisiveness, Pei Yan grabbed Xia Yu’s wrist and turned to flung her out of the fiery ring, just as the surrounding fire dragons exploded under intense burning, transforming the entire newborn forest into a boiling fireball rising up.

A gust of wind blew past as Pei Yan rapidly shot out of the sea of fire under engine propulsion. However, as soon as he was clear of the blaze, he crashed into the onrushing Bals.

Boom! Their fists met! Pei Yan was knocked back from mid-air, smashed downwards by the force, crashing into the ground because the burning below had turned the ice into water. The relentless battle vibrations had caused Pei Yan to embed deeply into the iceberg.

"Cough! Cough! Cough! Damn it, that almost killed me!" Pei Yan cried out in pain after pushing away the surrounding ice squeezing inwards. The speed and strength of that punch surpassed even Shitang Longsi and even Zheng Jia Ru he faced before.

To exceed the mechanical power output, does this guy possess a monster’s strength!

Whether he’s a monster or not! He’s doomed today! Fueled with rage, Pei Yan activated his engine, leaping out of the ice crevice, hovering in mid-air. He looked around as Xia Yu and Bals engaged in a desperate battle amidst ice and fire.
