Chapter 237: Chapter 234: Catastrophic Calamity
"It’s already done, but I haven’t had the chance to check it yet. Check it yourself." Sienna Gavin said as she was about to send the file to Melody Harmony.
"Why don’t you check it? I didn’t write it, how would I know what’s wrong? Check it yourself and then show it to me. Hurry up."
With that, Melody Harmony glared at Sienna Gavin. She always handed her work over to others; someone as precious as her couldn’t be bothered with such tasks.
This exchange was heard clearly by Elliana Lyle, who was standing on the side. Not only did they gossip, but they also let others do their work.
Why does the company keep idle people like this?
Elliana walked straight up to Melody Harmony, put her cup down on the desk with a loud clatter.
"Not doing your own work? Are you here to act all high and mighty?" Her voice was loud, drawing the attention of everyone in the department.
Everyone was shocked; they didn’t expect someone to stand up to Melody Harmony, especially a newcomer.
Melody Harmony frowned and stood up, raising her chin and looking down her nose at Elliana. "What do you mean? Looking for trouble?"
"Pack up your stuff and prepare to leave." Of course, Elliana couldn’t fire employees of Norman Bennett, but she could certainly talk to him.
People like her, with no contribution to the company, aren’t kept around just for fun, are they?
However, this didn’t make Melody Harmony scared or regretful; instead, she laughed at Elliana, just like one would laugh at a puny ant.
"Oh wow! You, making me pack up and leave? Do you know who my supervisor is? He’s my uncle! What can you do to me, huh?"
The words were laid bare. Seeing Melody Harmony’s arrogant demeanor, Elliana could already predict how Melody would end up crying.
Everything would be resolved in one fell swoop.
"I can’t do anything to you, but Norman Bennett can." She shrugged, looking completely at ease.
"Norman Bennett? The president? Wow, you ugly pumpkin think you can call the shots with the president?"
To be honest, Elliana didn’t understand why Melody called her a pumpkin. She was at least 160 cm tall, not that short.
Just because someone is shorter, they deserve disrespect? What kind of absurd logic is this?
"Do you believe I can’t get my uncle to fire you right now?"
Faced with Melody Harmony’s threat, Elliana found it amusing. She wasn’t an employee of Melody Harmony’s company; she was the boss’s wife, for Pete’s sake.
At this moment, Sienna Gavin hurried to mediate, "We’re all colleagues; there’s no need to be so antagonistic. There must be some misunderstanding."
"Just apologize to Sis Fin," Sienna said, giving Elliana a look, suggesting she should back down.
After all, in Sienna Gavin’s view, the supervisor was Melody Harmony’s uncle, someone not to be offended.
Elliana turned to Melody Harmony and said, "I don’t like doing things too harshly, so I’ll give you two choices: First, pack your things and prepare to leave. Second, bring your uncle here, and you both pack and leave together."
Previously, she had given Emily Lyle a choice as well, but Emily had chosen the worst possible option.
Clearly, she had given them a chance, but no one could seize it. Probably just stupidity.
Seeing this, Sienna Gavin said nothing further, knowing she couldn’t persuade them and simply went back to work.
Although everyone in the department was watching, not a single person spoke up, seemingly waiting for the final outcome.
Of course, Elliana’s words made Melody Harmony slightly alert. She didn’t think an ordinary newcomer could say such things.
After looking Elliana up and down and confirming she had nothing of value on her—no branded clothes—Melody regained her confidence.
"Alright, do you dare come to my uncle’s office with me?"
"No need to bother." Planning to privately have me fired, huh?
The supervisor probably wouldn’t dare to fire someone in front of so many people; they’d need to put on a show first.
Turning to the department, Elliana said, "Would someone go get her uncle so I can properly meet him?"
"I’ll go," a girl said and immediately ran towards the supervisor’s office.
Melody Harmony hesitated, wanting to stop the girl but deciding it might weaken her momentum, so she just stood there arrogantly.
Within just a few minutes, the department supervisor, Will Harper, came over.
Will Harper was visibly angry. His niece had gotten into a quarrel with a newcomer and even used his name to threaten to fire someone!
But seeing the newcomer’s clothes, he felt a jolt in his heart. They looked familiar! It’s... the president’s wife!
Matching entirely with her build and everything!
Seeing him come, Elliana took off her mask, smiled sweetly at Melody Harmony, "You’re out of chances."
The smile was bright and sweet, but it sent a chill down the spine, at least for Melody Harmony.
How could Melody Harmony not recognize Elliana? She was the president’s wife known throughout the company! And just now she...
"Supervisor Harper? So it’s you? Is this your niece?" She greeted Will Harper with a smile.
Will Harper broke out in a cold sweat and was internally panicking while Melody Harmony stood frozen, seemingly terrified.
Of course, she was someone who bullied the weak and feared the strong. Look, her arrogance crumbled quickly.
"Oh my, Mrs. President, what brings you here?" Will Harper said, glancing at Melody, almost wishing to slice his niece up with his gaze.
He then looked at Elliana, with a face full of flattery and difficulty, "She’s... my niece, just joined the company not long ago, ignorant of the rules, and offended you."
"Not long, huh? Oh, that explains it. Handing her work to others, gossiping behind their backs, giving people nicknames at random."
She listed all of Melody Harmony’s wrongdoings in one breath, though there were certainly others she hadn’t seen.
A bead of sweat dripped from Will Harper’s forehead as he bowed low and said, "I... I’ll have her dismissed immediately, to set an example."
"Uncle!" Melody Harmony looked at her uncle in disbelief. How could he claim ignorance? Clearly, he had tacitly approved of her behavior; otherwise, she wouldn’t have dared.
"Shut up!" Will Harper hissed, wishing he could strangle this niece of his. Originally, he thought she was merely a bit arrogant but hadn’t realized she didn’t even do her basic duties!
Even if she were his niece, he couldn’t tolerate such behavior.
Moreover, she had caused him immense trouble! The lightest consequence would be a reprimand or demotion, the worst being the loss of his job! He had worked in this company for four years, barely achieving his current position.
"Mrs. President, it’s my poor management, neglecting this position at fault."
Will Harper’s sincerity was evident, but of course, anyone in his position would appear sincere.
The department was abuzz with schadenfreude over these events, yet simultaneously, they felt concerned.
Melody Harmony’s actions had caused public outrage within the entire department, but out of respect for Supervisor Harper, everyone had held back.
Supervisor Harper was known to be fairly upright, so everyone was genuinely worried for him.
"Alright, handle this yourself," Elliana said, before turning and walking away.
She figured she should check with Raymond Wood about Supervisor Harper’s capabilities before making any decisions. After all, abruptly firing a supervisor could impact the company too.
She had no intention of adding trouble for Norman Bennett.
