Chapter 204 - 200: A Man’s Duty

Chapter 204: Chapter 200: A Man’s Duty

Jian Liangtong changed her shoes while also helping Hao Hao change his.

Jin Jumo carried Hao Hao to the small dining table in the living room and carefully placed him on the stool. "I cooked porridge and made Hao Hao’s favorite sticky rice meat buns and fragrant lotus root." She looked at Jian Liangtong, "You wipe Hao Hao’s hands. I’ll bring the food out."

Jian Liangtong gave her an "OK" sign and went straight into the bathroom.

Jin Jumo watched her back, her eyes slightly flickering.

Just as Jin Jumo was bringing the porridge out, after fetching the meat buns and lotus root from the kitchen, Jian Liangtong came in from the living room, grabbed a meat bun from Jin Jumo’s plate, and put it in her mouth. She then took a small bowl, spoon, and chopsticks from the cupboard.

Jin Jumo glanced at her twice, said nothing, and carried the dishes out.

Jian Liangtong followed her.

Jin Jumo placed the dishes on the dining table and took the small bowl from Jian Liangtong’s hands, serving porridge to both her and Hao Hao.

"Thank you, Auntie." Hao Hao said politely as Jin Jumo placed the porridge in front of him.

Jin Jumo smiled gently, patting his head.

Jian Liangtong had already started eating, occasionally using communal chopsticks to serve Hao Hao, without speaking.

Jin Jumo sat quietly next to Hao Hao, looking calmly at Jian Liangtong.

After finishing a bowl of porridge, Jian Liangtong put down her chopsticks.

Jin Jumo frowned slightly, "Why did you eat so little?"

"Dieting!" Jian Liangtong shot back with two words.

Jin Jumo stared at her thin, bamboo-like body, her frown deepening. She said softly, "Why are you still dieting? You’re already slim enough. Any slimmer, and a strong wind could blow you away."

Jian Liangtong raised an eyebrow, "That would be great, saves me from walking."

"..." Jin Jumo’s mouth turned down, looking at Jian Liangtong with deep suspicion.

Hao Hao didn’t go to kindergarten with his older brother and sister today. After breakfast, he obediently played by himself in the living room.

In Jin Jumo’s memory, except for when Xixi and Hanhan were around, Hao Hao was like a child; other times, he was so mature and quiet it made one feel distressed.

He never troubled Jian Liangtong, nor did he cry much. Even if he was bored, he could sit there in a daze and wouldn’t bother the adults or cause a fuss.

She often thought that Hao Hao might be suffering from mild childhood depression.

Jin Jumo was tidying up in the kitchen while Jian Liangtong tossed an apple in her palm, leaning against the kitchen door watching Jin Jumo.

Jin Jumo dried the plates and bowls with a towel, placing them in the dish rack.

She turned back to Jian Liangtong, "Didn’t you say to me before that your illness was completely cured and you didn’t need medication anymore?"

Jian Liangtong continued tossing the apple, nonchalantly saying, "When I told you before, I really thought I was cured."

"Do you think?" Jin Jumo’s eyes reddened, clenching her fists as she stared at her calm face, her throat blocked and hoarse, "Okay, you say you thought you were cured when you told me. So why, after a year, hasn’t your illness been cured? Why didn’t you tell me? If you told me, I wouldn’t have agreed for you to take Hao Hao so far to the UK!"

Jian Liangtong looked at Jin Jumo’s flushed eyes and face, her fingers gripping the apple increasingly tighter, softly saying, "I was afraid you’d worry."

"What’s wrong with worrying? Isn’t it right for me to worry about you?" Jin Jumo’s eyes were moist, a crystal-clear mist swirling in her eyes.

Jian Liangtong was a bit flustered, nervously stepping forward, reaching out to wipe her eyes, "Don’t be like this, Ju Zi. The reason I didn’t tell you was because my illness was already severe. The doctor said as long as I take my medication on time, there wouldn’t be any problems."

"Was what happened yesterday no problem? Were you trying to scare me to death?" Jin Jumo glared at her with a pale face.

In this world, besides Xixi and Hanhan, she and Hao Hao were the people closest to her. She couldn’t lose them!

"Liang Tong, really, don’t be like this. Don’t make me worried anymore. I’m so scared, so scared of losing you..." Jin Jumo gripped her fingers tightly, her voice filled with palpable fear and trembling.

Jian Liangtong’s heart ached, her nose tingled. Pouting, she coquettishly hugged her, "No, I promise you, the things you’re worried about will never happen. I’ll always be with you, with Xixi and Hanhan, and watch Hao Hao grow up. I’ll see them get married. Don’t worry, Ju Zi, really don’t worry about me. I’ll get better, I definitely will!"

Jin Jumo’s tears suddenly fell, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, "Then tell me, what’s your current condition exactly? What did the doctor say?"

Jian Liangtong’s eyes flickered lightly, "The doctor said I’m almost recovered. I can sleep now, eat, work, and interact normally with people. I don’t wake up in the middle of the night scaring people, haha..."

Jin Jumo choked up, lightly tapping her back, "Don’t laugh, it’s unpleasant to hear!"

Jian Liangtong pressed her lips tightly, her eyes filled with tears, burying her face in Jin Jumo’s hair. After a while, she whispered, "Ju Zi, I have to go."

Go...

Jin Jumo’s eyes narrowed sharply, pushing her away and grabbing her arms, her brows furrowing, "To the UK?"

Jian Liangtong blinked away the moisture in her eyes, smiling, "Director Karl is interested in having Yuan Chi play the male second lead in his new movie. As Yuan Chi’s manager, there are many things I need to negotiate with Director Karl on behalf of Yuan Chi. You know, Director Karl is a very famous director internationally, and getting the opportunity to play the male second lead in his film is almost as hard as climbing to the sky. So, I must go back. Otherwise, if things fall through, Yuan Chi would kill me as his manager."

Jian Liangtong achieved her wish, her work being the agent she had long dreamed of, and Jin Jumo was naturally happy for her.

And, her going out to work is beneficial to her illness, so she naturally supports it.

But...

Jin Jumo was still a little worried, "But is your health okay? Maybe I should take care of Hao Hao for you."

"It’s better not. Taking care of two is already a handful for you." Jian Liangtong pursed her lips, her voice lower. "Moreover, given your current situation, it’s not suitable for you to keep Hao Hao with you."

Jin Jumo’s eyelashes fluttered lightly.

She understood Jian Liangtong’s concerns.

Now that Rong Mochen knows that Xixi and Hanhan are his biological children, even if she tries her best to avoid him, he definitely wouldn’t agree to it.

There would probably be many chances to meet in the future.

Letting Rong Mochen frequently see Hao Hao isn’t good either...

"Ju Zi, after I go to the UK, if anyone asks you about me, you..." Jian Liangtong frowned with worry, looking at Jin Jumo hesitantly.

Jin Jumo’s eyes narrowed slightly, "Don’t worry, I know."

After Jin Jumo finished speaking, she watched Jian Liangtong breathe a sigh of relief, and her eyes squinted.

Perhaps this is the main reason she’s so eager to go to the UK.

Jin Jumo thought Jian Liangtong said she would go to the UK in a few days, or at least tommorow, but unexpectedly that afternoon, she headed straight for the international airport with Hao Hao.

Jin Jumo drove Jian Liangtong and Jian Chenghao to the international airport.

With twenty minutes before boarding, Jin Jumo looked at Jian Liangtong and Hao Hao with concern, speaking with reluctance, "Call me as soon as you arrive in the UK. If anything happens after you get there, let me know right away, okay?"

"Got it." Jian Liangtong replied somewhat impatiently.

Jin Jumo twitched her lips, bent over and picked up Hao Hao, "Hao Hao, remember to call your aunt frequently."

Jian Chenghao nodded obediently, "I will, Aunt."

After a pause, "Yesterday was Xixi and Brother’s birthday, I prepared birthday gifts for them, I left them under the pillow."

Jin Jumo affectionately kissed his forehead, "Okay, I’ll give them your gifts when they get home from school. It’s just that they might feel lost when they come home and don’t see you."

Jian Chenghao sighed, "Aunt, tell Xixi and Brother that I’ll miss them."

Jin Jumo smiled, looking at him with tenderness, "Okay."

Watching Jian Liangtong and Jian Chenghao walk into the boarding gate until she couldn’t see their backs anymore, Jin Jumo finally left the international airport.

After getting into the car, Jin Jumo checked the time on her phone, seeing it was just after three, it was a bit too early to pick up Xixi and Hanhan.

Thinking about how the refrigerator at home was almost empty, she drove to the department store near Yu Yang Apartment to buy food and groceries.

After buying everything and coming out of the supermarket, Jin Jumo drove back to Yu Yang Apartment.

Carrying two big bags of food, she took the elevator to the fifth floor.

As she stepped out of the elevator, she saw a man leaning against the wall next to the door of room 502, exuding an air of nonchalance.

Seeing Jin Jumo, the man took the cigarette butt from his lips, smirked, and squinted at her, "Miss Jin, we meet again."

Jin Jumo slightly furrowed her brows, glanced at the door, and walked over with her things.

Huo Chengjin raised an eyebrow, held the cigarette between his lips, took a quick step forward, and grabbed the two bags from Jin Jumo’s hands, smiling with squinted eyes, "It’s a man’s duty to handle such laborious chores."

Jin Jumo watched as he easily carried the two big bags of food with his slender and attractive hands, the creases on her brow deepened, she looked up at his not particularly stunning yet very distinctive face, "I don’t seem to have any connections with Second Young Master Huo, so your appearance here today isn’t to see me, is it?"

Huo Chengjin raised an eyebrow, laughed recklessly, and said, "It doesn’t matter if there wasn’t any connection before, there can be from now on."

"From now on?" Jin Jumo chuckled lightly, though her peach blossom eyes held no laughter, "I don’t think there will be any connections between me and Second Young Master Huo in the future either."

"Ha, don’t speak too soon." Huo Chengjin continued to smile brightly, saying, "You are my brother’s sweetheart, getting the title of sister-in-law is just a matter of time for you."

Upon hearing the words "sister-in-law", Jin Jumo’s two delicate eyebrows knitted tightly. Just as she was about to speak, the elevator door not far behind her suddenly dinged open.

Jin Jumo assumed it was a neighbor, turned her head to look.

The first thing she saw were two long legs in suit pants stepping out of the elevator.

Jin Jumo’s gaze sharpened slightly, as it moved upward, the man’s stern and cold face came into view, causing her heart to sink lower instantly.

"Brother, you’re here too." Huo Chengjin smiled at Rong Mochen with extreme indulgence, as if his presence here was the most ordinary thing.
