Chapter 152: Chapter 149: Don’t Move, Are You Trying to Bump Into Something Again? (1)
Jin Jumo clasped her left hand, lowered her eyelashes, and slowly moved her body to the side.
Rong Zhengfeng was momentarily stunned, and then he gratefully glanced at Jin Jumo and walked towards the bedridden Jin Jiancheng.
Though the two had only met a few days ago, Jin Jiancheng’s condition had become drastically different. His complexion was ashen, and even in a deep sleep, he seemed to emanate a sense of desolate sorrow.
Rong Zhengfeng tightened his grip on Rong Mochen’s hand for a long time before slowly turning to look at Jin Jumo, who had her head lowered in silence. His voice was filled with deep apology, "Jin, I’m sorry."
"..." Jin Jumo’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she softly said, "Thank you for visiting my grandfather."
Jin Jumo’s tone was filled with distance and coldness.
Rong Zhengfeng felt increasingly uncomfortable in his heart. He wanted to say something but seeing her always facing him with her side profile, he opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a single word.
Rong Sinan was seeing Jin Jiancheng for the first time, but seeing him lying on the hospital bed now, he felt the presence of death, just like with Rong Jun back then.
With a heavy heart, Rong Sinan looked at Jin Jumo, "Momo, I know nothing I say can make up for the harm my mother caused you, but I am truly sorry. When Mr. Jin wakes up, I will have my mother apologize to him personally."
"If my grandfather wakes up, I’m not sure he would want to see your mother. So, you may as well spare the apology." Jin Jumo’s voice was very low, carrying a sense of indifference and aloofness.
"..." Rong Sinan was rendered speechless, with deep apology etched in his handsome brow.
Rong Mochen had been watching Jin Jumo, who had kept her head down from the beginning. His thin lips pursed tightly without him realizing it. He slowly shifted his dark gaze to Rong Zhengfeng and Rong Sinan, "I’ll see you out."
"But..."
"Grandfather." Rong Mochen interrupted Rong Zhengfeng, who was about to speak, in a calm voice, "Let’s go."
Rong Zhengfeng felt a profound sense of remorse towards Jin Jumo and Jin Jiancheng. Both were simple and kind-hearted people, yet they ended up hurt because of his arrogant daughter-in-law. How could he not feel guilty!
There were so many things he wanted to say, but he knew that at this critical moment, right after Jin Jiancheng’s incident, nothing he said would help.
Rong Zhengfeng took one last look at Jin Jiancheng, sighed heavily in his heart, and left the ward with the support of Rong Mochen and Rong Sinan.
Shortly after Rong Zhengfeng left, the comatose Jin Jiancheng slowly woke up.
Jin Jumo felt a surge of joy in her heart. She quickly sat by the bed, tightly gripping Jin Jiancheng’s thin hands. Looking into his cloudy and somewhat dazed eyes, her voice became suddenly hoarse, "Grandfather."
Jin Jiancheng’s muddled eyes suddenly brightened but then darkened again. His dry and chapped lips moved slightly, tightened, and he just looked at Jin Jumo, deeply and intently.
Jin Jumo’s heart ached, and she grasped Jin Jiancheng’s hand helplessly, bending down to press her face against the back of his slightly cool hand, "Grandfather, Little Mo was wrong, Little Mo was unfilial, Little Mo didn’t take good care of you."
A layer of moisture appeared in Jin Jiancheng’s eyes as he gazed at Jin Jumo for a moment and slowly closed his eyes.
Seeing his tightly closed eyes, Jin Jumo’s heart felt as if it were being cut by a thousand knives. She bit her lower lip hard and sat up straight, looking at him resolutely, "Grandfather, the doctors said that as long as you continue rehabilitation, you will get better. Little Mo won’t let you stay like this forever."
Jin Jiancheng didn’t react. In the quiet ward, his breathing seemed to have ceased.
Jin Jumo’s throat seared with pain, and she lowered her head, resting her forehead against Jin Jiancheng’s neck, rubbing dependently as she softly murmured, "Even if Little Mo has disappointed you, please don’t give up on Little Mo, okay, Grandfather... okay..."
Jin Jiancheng’s tightly closed eyelashes quivered, and soon his eyes became moist with tears.
When Rong Mochen returned after seeing Rong Zhengfeng and Rong Sinan out, Jin Jumo was nowhere to be seen in the ward.
Frowning, Rong Mochen was about to search for her when his eyes caught a keen gaze directed at him from within the ward.
Pausing, Rong Mochen turned his head to look at Jin Jiancheng on the bed.
Jin Jiancheng’s eyes struggled to move toward Rong Mochen, slightly reddened.
Rong Mochen narrowed his eyes slightly and walked a few steps closer to Jin Jiancheng. Seeing his thin figure on the hospital bed, a complicated emotion flitted through his heart, "You’re awake."
Jin Jiancheng opened his mouth, a hoarse and raspy voice urgently emerged from his throat. His eyes, wide open and red like bull’s blood, welled with tears rolling down from the corners.
But all his sounds fell on Rong Mochen’s ears as incoherent murmurs.
Rong Mochen’s dark eyes deepened as he quietly stared at Jin Jiancheng for a moment. He grasped Jin Jiancheng’s hand with one hand and spoke in a deep and resolute voice, "Mr. Jin, whatever my mother has said, please don’t believe her. I won’t deny that she has some biases against Little Mo, but it’s all irrelevant. I genuinely want to marry Little Mo as my wife, not out of whim or confusion.
Truth be told, from the moment Little Mo agreed to marry me, she no longer has the room to regret, and I won’t give her any. If she wants to marry, the person is me. If she doesn’t want to marry me, she shouldn’t think of marrying anyone else, as I won’t allow it."
"..." Jin Jiancheng hadn’t expected Rong Mochen’s possessiveness over Jin Jumo to have reached this extent. He was somewhat startled but also slightly comforted.
"Mr. Jin, I can see that Little Mo has a deep reliance on you. No one compares to you in her heart. Please take care of your health. As for other matters, there’s no need to worry; I will handle everything." Rong Mochen’s tone was calm, but his expression was solemn.
Jin Jiancheng stubbornly stared at Rong Mochen, his eyes wide open, like guarding something precious.
Rong Mochen slightly pondered, squinting, "Mr. Jin, I promise you, I will never let Little Mo suffer any harm again. I will do everything possible to protect her."
After Rong Mochen said this, Jin Jiancheng slowly closed his eyes.
Rong Mochen watched Jin Jiancheng close his eyes, and his brows furrowed tightly. He turned his head and looked towards the door of the hospital room, his gaze deep and intense.
Jin Jumo stood at the door, holding a package of cotton swabs in her fair hands. The moment Rong Mochen looked her way, she quickly collected her emotions, pressed her lips, and slowly walked into the hospital room.
She picked up the cup of warm water on the bedside table, pulled out a cotton swab, dipped it in the water, and gently applied it to Jin Jiancheng’s chapped lips.
Rong Mochen stared at her calm profile, a sigh reverberated in his heart, and he reached out to grasp her delicate wrist holding the water cup.
Jin Jumo’s action paused, and her dark eyes quietly looked at Rong Mochen.
Rong Mochen slightly exerted force in his palm and then took the cup and cotton swab from her hand, "Let me."
"..." Jin Jumo stared at him for a few seconds without organizing her thoughts, quietly standing to the side.
Rong Mochen mimicked Jin Jumo’s previous actions, his cold and handsome face full of seriousness and solemnity, like when he’s focused and rigorous in the study, making people dare not disturb him. Yet, every movement flowed gracefully, capturing attention.
Jin Jumo just watched him, her emotions fluctuated in a short one or two minutes, but when he finished and looked her way, her eyes were calm and wave-less again.
Rong Mochen got up, his tall and sturdy body approaching Jin Jumo.
Jin Jumo’s long eyelashes quivered, her breathing paused.
The tips of their feet touched, above them was his warm, shallow breath and burning gaze. Jin Jumo was unexpectedly disoriented, furrowing her brows, lowering her head.
Rong Mochen’s upper body suddenly leaned down towards her.
Jin Jumo jumped slightly, her face reddening as she stepped back, but there was a bedside table behind her, her waist hitting the table edge, causing her to inhale lightly from the pain.
In the next second, a hot large hand supported her lower back, pushing her forward.
Jin Jumo’s whole body drew close to a firm chest emitting warm streams, her breathing hurried, avoiding looking at him, reaching out to gently push him.
Rong Mochen not only didn’t release her but tightened his grip on her waist, causing Jin Jumo’s face to bump into his left chest, the blush quickly spreading to the roots of her ears.
Jin Jumo hurriedly breathed twice, looking up, her watery eyes gently shrinking, panic-stricken, looking at the solemn, handsome face above.
Rong Mochen’s brows furrowed, a fleeting look of pity in his dark eyes, his large hand gently pinching her lower back, extremely tender, "Does it hurt?"
"..." Jin Jumo’s heart trembled, her eyes dodging, shaking her head quickly, trying to retreat.
"Don’t move, or you’ll hit again, won’t you?" Rong Mochen sighed softly, his long arms wrapping around her waist, leaning in, placing the cup and cotton swabs in his other hand onto the bedside table behind her.
When she heard the sound of the cup landing on the table behind her, Jin Jumo blushed heavily, realizing he had just wanted to put things away...
Embarrassed, she bit her lip and frowned regretfully, burying her face in his broad chest.
Rong Mochen watched Jin Jumo’s little actions, his thin lips gently curving, lowering his head to kiss her ear, "You didn’t sleep at all last night, go home and rest, hmm?"
Jin Jumo shook her head in his chest.
Rong Mochen frowned, his other hand stroking her neck, gently stroking her long hair, "Worried about your grandfather?"
Jin Jumo didn’t speak.
Rong Mochen turned his gaze to Jin Jiancheng.
Jin Jiancheng had opened his eyes at some point, looking at the two, his eyes unreadable in emotion.
There was only a hint of urgency when Rong Mochen looked over.
Rong Mochen’s mouth tightened, looking down at the small woman in his arms, "I will have someone stay outside Mr. Jin’s hospital room, without your permission, no one will be allowed in."
Jin Jumo still didn’t speak.
Rong Mochen tightened his embrace, "Little Mo, the children need to rest too."
"..." Jin Jumo furrowed her eyebrows, lowered her head, one hand gently rubbing her belly.
Tang Ruan caught up with Fang Jingyi and brought her back home.
