Chapter 307 Overseer
Chapter 307
"Boss, I've found her," Mark Wilson said from the other end of the phone.
"And?" Wei Jun asked. Since Mark Wilson stopped, it meant he had failed to execute the next part of the plan. Or he had but hadn't gotten lucky.
"The thing is that she won't budge. She refuses to leave her city behind and move to Yuan Yin City even with the lucrative offer you've given her." Mark Wilson replied.
Wei Jun remained silent. He was actually at a bit of a loss. He had only read the first volume of the novel and the novel had been going on for quite some time now. The novel was currently well into the third volume out of the seven so Wei Jun decided to give them a thought after he had made sure the main heroine was in his grasp.
"I'll get back to you. Sit tight or try to convince her once again. Offer her two times, if not three times more. Make it four or five if you have to." Wei Jun said. Mark Wilson was left speechless. The 'five times' Wei Jun was talking about was not a small amount at all.
'Five times of five million? Why is the boss willing to spend so much for her?' Mark Wilson thought but he didn't dwell on it too much. It wasn't his place to pry. All he had to do was do as he was told. Nothing else mattered.
"Got it, boss." Mark Wilson replied and cut off the phone. Wei Jun, on the other end, remained deep in thought. Since his growth wasn't much in the last volume, he wanted to use some of his levels to obtain some bonus stats so he could raise his physical stats to the limit at least.
But the dilemma began when he'd need seventy levels to read all the volumes. He stopped reading when he was at the fortieth level so he had quite a lot of levels amassed but he couldn't just waste so many levels on volumes if he wanted to keep some insurance for the future.

[My advice is to read the novel]
[There are thousands of ways to raise your strength]
'But not as fast.'
[But they do exist]
[However, there's only one way to read the novel]
In simpler words, the choice was obvious. Read the novels and raise your strength in some other way. Wei Jun knew that much even without the system telling him but what he also needed was that very other way.
Because at the moment, he had nothing in his arsenal. The yang assimilation was too addictive and Wei Jun was having a hard time resisting it at the moment. He didn't want to risk it so he put that on halt.
When he assimilated with death, the addiction wasn't that much but he couldn't do that because of the fact that he'd become an open evil cultivator. Then, the whole world would be after him. Not just the cultivators or the empire.
With the decision made, he laid down in his bed and closed his eyes. He prepared himself for another headache along with the headache from the ridiculousness of the novels.
Wei Jun opened his eyes after a little while. His expression was as calm as it could be. He simply stated, "You never fail to disappoint."
[That's it?]
[I for sure thought there was going to be a storm of profanities]
'I give up.' Wei Jun simply replied and stood up. For now, he knew how to bring her to the city. To his city. But on the other hand, there was another piece of business he needed to deal with.
He had to deal with someone from his past. So he pulled out his phone and contacted Li Wei.
"Yes, boss?" Li Wei asked.
"Leak the information to him. Mention the Ruan family. We need to deal with both of them before they become any more powerful." Wei Jun said.
"Are you sure about this boss? I mean, he is your grandfather." Li Wei replied.
"He may be. But he should also understand one thing." Wei Jun replied.
"And that is?" Li Wei asked.
"Every man should retire and hand over everything to their descendants." Wei Jun replied.
"Got is, boss." Li Wei didn't ask any more and cut off the call. Wei Jun also put his phone away and looked outside the window of his room. It was peaceful in the city, to say the least. Despite the threat from the dungeons, everything was progressing as usual. It didn't take long for people to adapt.
'It's about to get hectic again.' Wei Jun thought before he left to take a shower. It was time he got back to his work. He couldn't just ignore it any longer.

"Who the hell are you?" Wei Jun asked as he entered his office, his expression neither cold nor angered. It was simply one of… fed up.
"I have been assigned to be by your side 24\7. Wherever you go, I have been ordered to go along." The person, a woman, Wei Jun was looking at, replied. Like that general from the military, this woman had a scar on her face as well. Only hers was around her lips, giving her a disfigured look.
However, her appearance otherwise was otherworldly. Her figure, her raven hair, her cloudy blue eyes, her voice, and everything about her was enchanting. If not for that scar, she would have been even more beautiful than Yan Rong.
No, she was even more beautiful than Yan Rong. The scar did nothing to diminish her natural beauty.
But, her natural beauty was the last thing Wei Jun was interested in. What he was solely interested in was the fact that that woman was not only in his office, she had been assigned to him as his 'bodyguard'.
And who assigned her?
[Now I get why you want him dead]
Sun Ruan, who was Wei Jun's grandfather in name, made a deal with the military, the CSF, and the empire to let Wei Jun be monitored in exchange for resources which the military could easily provide.
What angered Wei Jun was that he wouldn't be able to do things as freely as before. An even bigger problem was none other than the fact that Wei Jun couldn't kill her. She wasn't stronger than him, a master ranked cultivator at the initial realm, just like him. However, Wei Jun was sure that she'd have some sort of backup. They wouldn't have sent her here if they didn't know the simple fact that Wei Jun was stronger than her.
Still, Wei Jun didn't want to create problems for himself. Most of all now when he was almost acquitted of all the suspicions against him. In the end, the military wouldn't have enough resources to waste on him. Sure, he had caused them troubles but the ultimate grudge came from the CSF. Sooner or later, they'd be bound to let go of this.
Considering that possibility, Wei Jun remained silent and went to his seat. He sat down and started working on a few things. He started many things and ended many in that one day but in all that time, he didn't do anything except for work. The woman remained on his head all the time and even though he didn't know her name, he was sure she wasn't going to be tired anytime soon.
As he was working, Yue Peng called him and informed him of some problems.
"They're causing us some troubles; you say?" Wei Jun asked. Yue Peng replied, "Yes. They want us to hand them over some of our shares. It's not imperative but we need to think about it if we want to expand into that industry."
Wei Jun remained silent for a while. It wasn't anything new. People already present in an industry didn't appreciate someone new entering their field of play. But they also knew what kind of a giant the Ruan Enterprises was.
They knew that sooner or later, they'd enter that field so it was best to allow them to do so now. But, nothing wrong with taking something in return as well.
The only problem that remained was that Wei Jun was free to either do that, or go along with his own principles which were nothing but simple.
Take it if you can't have it.
"Bring them down. Target their subsidiaries. Cut their connections to the local authorities and harass them on every turn. IN any way you can." Wei Jun replied.
"Got it." Yue Peng replied, a little relived about Wei Jun's reply. As for Wei Jun, he turned to the woman behind him and smiled. She was looking at him with coldness in her eyes but didn't say anything. Seeing no reaction from her, Wei Jun smirked and stood up.
He left his office and made his way to the restroom. As he arrived, he could see that the woman followed him, even to his stall.
"Please don't tell me you're going to follow me here as well?" Wei Jun asked.
The woman remained silent to that question. Wei Jun sighed and said, "Well, suit yourself. But," Wei Jun said as he took off his pants along with his shorts, "Don't be surprised."
