Chapter 360: Chase

Jeff feels a great sense of betrayal as he comes to find out Amon is still alive.

He made sure to pay those gangsters really well with the most expensive thing under his possession, but instead of killing Amon, they let him go scot-free?

Jeff was not having it.

He wants his chain back. That shit cost him an arm and a leg. He is not going to let some low-level gangster rip him off.

Since he found out that he got scammed, he has been riding around the city, trying to find the gangsters, but he has had no luck.

He tried asking around, but no one would speak to him, especially because he was asking them about gangsters.

He also can't go to the police as he is a murder suspect. The police have been looking for him.

Jeff takes pride in still not being caught by the police; he attributes his success to his own intelligence. Little does he know that a certain someone just didn't want him caught.

After searching for two days, Jeff felt like giving up, but then he saw them.

A group of people sitting under the same bridge, he met them. They seem to be having a feast on the riverbed.

They are laughing, eating, drinking, and having a blast. With all the money in hand, how could they not?

This is the first time they have had so much money.

As Jeff sees them having a lavish party, he thinks they bought all these things with the chain he gave them.

Now filled with raging anger, Jeff couldn't control himself and stormed towards the gang. He has lost all his sense of reasoning from failure after failure, unable to get rid of Amon and save his goddess.

He forgot that this brave move from him was going to end with him being slapped across the face and beaten brutally by the gang.

With all the rage of the world packed inside his stupid head, Jeff confronts the gang.

"You assholes!" he shouts, getting the attention of everyone.

The classical music that was playing in the background pauses; the boss is a fan of classical music, and he likes to make his underlings listen to it as well, trying to impress them with his knowledge of culture.

Everyone at the table turns their heads to look at Jeff as if he is a madman, most of them don't even remember who he is because of how insignificant he was to them, but it clicks inside one of their heads.

"Boss, it's this the dude who tried to get us all killed?" One of the henchmen says.

"You are right, it's the same mother fucker," the boss says and slowly gets up from his chair. Seeing the boss stand up, the rest of the gang stand up as well and start giving Jeff the death glare.

Every single one of them is beyond pissed because of Jeff; they all almost died, luckily, they had a comrade who willingly sacrificed himself to save their asses, if not, they too would have ended up headless, as their heads would have been popped like a balloon.

That night still gives them nightmares.

Jeff, who was taken with fury, sees the gang members slowly get to their feet and stare at him with murderous eyes.

All his anger and bravado slowly start to fade as realization starts to set in. His body shivers with fear on instinct before his mind could even catch on to the fact that he is fucked.

Jeff's face starts turning pale as the boss steps away from his chair and starts making his way towards Jeff; his goons follow right behind him.

As the realization of his situation sets in, Jeff takes a step back. He can't believe that he was stupid enough to charge forward at the gang and call them names, especially when he had no leverage.

Regret starts setting in as he begins to realize just how stupid he has been since the very beginning. Why did he pay these gang members up front when they are known for their bad faith, and when they didn't do as he told them, he tried to insult them? Jeff knew he dug his own grave.

But other than himself, the only person he could blame was none other than Amon. He believes it is because of Amon that he is in this situation. If Amon had not pissed him off so much, he would have never made such a drastic mistake.

Jeff takes another step back, sweat starts forming on his forehead while his legs shake with fear, he feels his heart beats faster, and adrenaline courses in his veins as his body enters the fight-or-flight stage.

There is honestly only one option for Jeff here. He is not strong enough to take on one goon, let alone a whole gang who grew up swinging their fists at each other since a young age. Nᴇw novel chapters are publɪshed on novel✶

"I am sorry...." he says, his voice meek and shaky.

"Huh? What was that?" The boss asks while smashing his fists together. He genuinely didn't hear Jeff. Jeff, on the other hand, thought that the gang didn't like his apology and was about to beat the shit out of him.

And he was right to think so. Even if he asked for forgiveness, he won't be forgiven.

Jeff knew it was time for him to get out of here. He tried to move, but he felt his legs frozen.

'Move! Move! MOVE!' He screamed inside his head, begging his legs to move. His legs finally decided to listen.

Jeff immediately turned his back on the gang and made a run for it.

"Catch that mother fucker!" The boss shouted. The goons immediately gave chase.

Jeff ran up the stairs of the extended riverbank as fast as he could while the goons ran after him.

He ran to his stolen electric bike and started it in an instant before twisting the accelerator and getting the hell out of there.

"Fuckers! I am going to break your bones if any of you lose him!" the boss shouted. He really didn't have to, though, as every goon is equally motivated to catch Jeff and beat the living hell out of him.

They immediately hop into their cars and give chase. Even the boss joined in. He got into his own car and followed his goons.

A very intense vehicular chase began. Jeff, on his electric bike, and the gang right on his ass.

Jeff stole an electric bike because it would help him get out of situations quickly and silently, but when it comes to high-speed chase, a low-powered electric bike is not made for it; it might be silent and quick to accelerate, but when it comes to top speed, it doesn't hold a candle to even an average road car.

The distance that he had on the goons slowly started shrinking.

Jeff is terrified out of his mind as he tries his best to get away. He is not the most skilled driver, but now that his life is at risk, he is pulling off things he would have never dreamed of before, like overtaking massive vehicles from their blind side to throw off the goons, but the goons are persistent.

They honk their horns loudly and wave their weapons around in the air to scare off the large vehicle drivers, forcing them to give way.

The streets of the city become chaotic, and before you know it, two police vehicles join in the chase, ordering Jeff and the goons to pull over, but they do not listen.

Instead, Jeff tries to ride even faster, hoping that the police will help him get the goons off his back. Seeing this, the goons also continue to give chase.

"Boss, it's the police! What should we do?" The goon driving with his boss asks, panicked as he sees lightning flashing behind them.

"Don't stop, continue giving chase. We need to catch that mother fucker. Don't forget, because of him, one of us died. All because he wanted to get the Big Boss killed. Don't you think the Big Boss will reward us some more if we hand this fucker over to him?" The boss says, laughing out loud, excited.

None of them thought of this, but what their boss is saying is true. If they hand over this twink mother fucker to their big boss, he might reward them.

"But what about the police?" The driver asked, as he is still worried about them.

"Why the fuck should we be worried about them? Did your monkey brain forget that we work for the Big Boss now? Police is now none of our concern, hehe," the boss says.

"You are right! How could I forget that?" The driver says, slamming his head like an idiot.

"That's why I am the boss and you are a chum," The boss says, bawling out loud with a laugh.

The chase continues. And it starts getting dangerous.

Seeing that the goons have no intention to let him off easily, Jeff starts panicking and starts making even more dangerous moves on the road, swirling and turning aggressively, forcing vehicles next to him to swerve extremely just so that they can avoid hitting him.

This causes one of the cars to swerve more extreme than others, causing it to flip and roll on top of another car, forcing that car to swerve and crash into another car.

The goons managed to swerve past the accidents and continue with the chase, but the accident they left behind is too extreme, causing a pile-up and blocking the road for the police to continue pursuing them.
