Chapter 374: Chapter 235: Annihilation of a New Case_3

The two first met when Dean handled his first case; some conflict arose between them, leading Lawrence to give Cheston En a few solid punches.

At that time, Cheston En was still a rookie agent in the FBI.

Afterward, Cheston En was assigned to the FBI’s Los Angeles field office. The guy had matured a lot. He even clung to a senior agent’s coattails, becoming his partner.

Later, that partner was shot dead by Dean.

And then, it was the recent counterfeit money case involving Middle Eastern terrorist forces.

Cheston En was lucky. During that investigation, his partner was blown up, leaving only a thigh behind, but he managed to survive again.

Lawrence had talked to Dean about this before. Now it seemed the tricky case mentioned in the email was that counterfeit case.

The counterfeit case was not simple.

Dean initially let the FBI take the fall, so how could he possibly touch it again now?

"I’d rather run into that high-IQ criminal someone mentioned than find an unexpected bomb under my car one day!"

Dean shook his head and directly passed on that option.

So he replied to the other party with the second option.

Another identity meant another choice. Unless it was too tough, Dean didn’t want to easily give up his position as an external field contractor for the FBI.

And he was short on cases now.

After solving the Jin Dahai murder case, Dean was only 2,200 Experience Points away from leveling up to Level 20 and bringing his final strength attribute up to 15 points.

By then, the panel would undergo a change. Dean was very much looking forward to this!

...

Thompson’s birthday was taken very seriously by his mother, Sheila.

Because it was his sixteenth birthday. This tradition stemmed from Dean’s father’s, or rather, his great-grandfather’s generation. Back then, turning sixteen signified adulthood. Therefore, when family members reached this age, the occasion was formally celebrated, a custom subsequently passed down through generations.

Beck and Dean had been no exception, and neither was Thompson.

Sheila still couldn’t forget about Dean’s old man, determined to carry on the tradition he left behind.

This time, Thompson finally brought his girlfriend home.

The girl was a pure blonde American beauty, dressed maturely; usually, such girls preferred to date players from the school’s baseball or basketball teams. It was a mystery how Thompson managed to win her over.

After the family party ended, Thompson pulled Dean aside. "Dean, didn’t you forget something?"

"I didn’t forget. Your gift is in the car!" Dean said, grinning as he handed his car keys to Thompson.

Thompson’s eyes widened with ecstatic disbelief. "Dean, are you really going to give me your car?"

That was a luxury modified Hummer of no small value, sitting in the yard like an armored land vehicle, exuding dominance! If I drove it to school, I’d be the coolest kid in the entire school!

Dean rolled his eyes. "Buddy, don’t get carried away. I’m just lending it to you to show off this one time. After all, you still have to drive your girlfriend home."

Thompson nodded disappointedly. "Alright, then what’s your gift?"

"A box of ribbed condoms."

Dean raised an eyebrow. "But if you dare to use them in my car, I’ll strip you naked and hang you at the front gate of your school!"

"Got it..." Thompson replied, the excitement that had just shown on his face fading.

He still wanted to test out the shock resistance of Dean’s car.

Thompson asked weakly, "Then, can I come back tomorrow?"

"If you can withstand your mom’s horsewhip and your little girlfriend’s dad’s bullets, feel free."

Thompson: "..."

...

Driving Dean’s car wasn’t difficult.

After a couple of simple spins, Thompson drove off with his girlfriend, who was equally thrilled, headed outside the community.

Dean’s car had earned him a lot of face in front of his girlfriend.

He felt he had the chance, before driving his girlfriend home, to experience the gift Dean had given him and, at the same time, try feeling the joy of being one with nature.

Such excited and thrilling thoughts made him speed up.

But soon enough, poor Thompson experienced something he would struggle to forget for the rest of his life...

「It was past nine o’clock at night.」

Dean was competing in a gun assembly game with his younger sister Sinclair, while their mother Sheila, engrossed in a soap opera, acted as the referee.

Ever since Sinclair had started practicing shooting, she always pulled Dean aside upon his return, eager for him to teach her how to become a sharpshooter.

Suddenly, Dean’s phone rang.

He put down the bullet he was holding, picked up the phone, and answered, "Hawk, what’s up?"

It sounded like Hawk was driving. "Dean, the duty officer at the station just received a call. There’s been a mass murder in XX community, and the caller claims to be your brother."

"Thompson?" A jolt went through Dean’s heart.

He glanced at his oblivious mother and Sinclair and replied calmly, "Got it, I’ll be right over!"

"Is it a case?" Sheila asked, looking at Dean with a frown.

Dean nodded casually. "Yes, Mom, a new case has come up. I have to go take a look now. Oh, and Thompson actually went to my rental place with his girlfriend today, so don’t wait up for him tonight."

Sheila rolled her eyes. "If Thompson gets me a grandchild, I’ll consider asking you for child support, I swear, Dean!"

Sinclair also felt a bit jealous. "Dean, you’re too good to Thompson, much better than to me!"

Dean: "..."

I’ve given too much for this family.

He made up his mind. When he saw Thompson later, he’d let him know the consequences of making his brother take the fall!

...

Driving his mother’s car, Dean arrived at the location Hawk had informed him of at nine-forty in the evening.

As soon as he got out of the car, he saw a drenched figure soaked in red ’liquid’, sitting desolately on a lawn stone, completely dispirited...
