Chapter 357: Chapter 357. Can someone explain what just happened ?
Kailen’s gaze moved towards a different area of the same large desertlike landscape or battlefield where Miranda recently engaged in a battle with the wendigo looking creature.
Through the eyes of Hound 3, he observed someone else.
Everlong.
Standing on a raised platform, created by an earth affinity user in her unit, alongside her unit members, her eyes scanned the approaching horde with swift precision.
She checked her map, then drew a conclusion.
" The bastards from the other societies have their own battles for now.
Although it looks like they are heading towards our direction, they are most likely caught in a similar situation just like us. That gives us enough time to rake up points and familiarize ourselves with the environment."
Everlong quickly scanned the terrain. She sent a thought transmission to Anaya.
" Luring several targets towards your direction. Ready?"
Anaya replied, " They won’t even see it coming. Everything has been naturally planned. Proceed."
Everlong quickly got to work.
She gave the signal, and several unit members of hers, specialising in long range attacks, launched their attacks swiftly towards the approaching horde of grotesque looking creatures spawned from the secret realm.
Some of the attacks — wind based arrows, flame bullets, lightning spears, earth spikes, and rock bullets amongst others — managed to kill a couple of the creatures.
However, some of the attacks naturally failed to do so when they came into contact with stronger monstrosities.
The creatures headed towards Everlong and company, launching various attacks towards them — poison chains, dark fireballs, amongst others.
Everlong and company met the attacks head on with theirs, barely able to hold on against the assaults — which led to different colors and explosions as a result of the clashing of different affinities appearing in the atmosphere.
Although the attacks of the spawned creatures were terrifying, thanks to the rune inscribed armors granted by Kailen and Anaya before they entered the teleportation gates, they were able to protect themselves.
However, the goal was not to become the brunt and punching bags of beasts and lose their protective armors to destructive attacks of these beasts before they collided with the other societies.
The plan would ensure that this does not happen.
Assuming postures of escape, Everlong and co feigned a retreat. The creatures followed.
The spectators realized that Everlong and company were headed towards Anaya and her unit, in a lowland, almost valley like region of the desert landscape.
" They are gonna get them killed."
" What are they doing?"
" Doesn’t she know that leading them to her teammates is gonna get her unit killed too?"
" Is she nuts?"
" Be patient and observe. There’s probably more to this. Everlong Atrexia is not a fool."
" Right, she’s an Atrexia, one of those monstrous fellows who read others like a book. Someone like her has a brain on her head. She won’t try something stupid."
The eyes of the leader of the spawned creatures, bearing a lion head and a snake body , and having two enormous wings at either sides of its body, shimmered with intelligence.
The creature made some incomprehensible sounds, hinting to its associates that their prey was trying to escape, and that since there were new preys the ones they were hunting were leading them to, they had lucked out on a feast today.
With renewed resolve and confidence, they charged after the group of weaklings attempting to escape.
The moment Everlong and co appeared at where Anaya was standing, the creatures were within range for them to initiate their plan.
The supposed Anaya and group disappeared as though they had never been there.
As for Everlong and company, they disappeared from the location, utilizing several short distance teleportation rune inscribed artifacts Kailen and Anaya had handed over before they ventured into the secret realm.
" They are all yours. I gotta say the illusion rune you came up with was pretty realistic, for a second I thought that was actually you." Everlong’s voice rung in the mind of Anaya through a thought transmission.
Anaya did not have the time to reply to her right now.
Quickly, she sent a thought transmission to her unit members.
" Launch."
Immediately, several weapons of different caliber whizzed through the air from the highland region above the valley like area where the ascendant level grotesque creatures had appeared to hunt their prey, only to realize that the said prey had disappeared.
Because the weapons were infused with invisibility runes made by Kailen and Anaya, the creatures didn’t notice any weird change until the attacks landed and some sort of mechanism was triggered.
Then,
An explosion.
Anaya and co, having retreated as soon as they launched the attacks against the higher ranked ascendant level creatures she and no one in her unit would have been a match for with their physical strength and affinities, watched, alongside the dumbfounded spectators from all across the empire, as the spawned creatures screamed in the flames of the explosion.
The aftermath was lethal, catastrophic.
Dunes rose as a result of the explosion, and the valley where the explosion had been triggered was now a deep wide crater.
Also, the creatures had died, and their bodies had turned into ashes. Not even an iota of them remained.
" Impressive. Did they just kill creatures that are stronger than them without losing a single member?"
" Damn! These guys are the real deal!"
" Look, see the rankings, their individual rankings are climbing like crazy."
" Yeah, also the ranking of the Sword Tribunal Society has suddenly risen significantly. It can’t be helped, the creatures they killed are numbering in the hundreds!"
" What the hell? These guys just took first place!
And they haven’t even lost a single member? The other societies are fighting, with a couple of their members sustaining a few injuries and a few dying? But these guys just used strategy to take first place?"
" Can someone tell me what is going on?"
" When Kailen Darkhaven was giving them the orders, I didn’t pretty much get the whole thing and thought it was a stupid idea, but now that I think about it, this guy is not only a monstrous combatant but a genius planner."
" Don’t give the credit to Kailen Darkhaven alone. It takes more than planning to execute something like this flawlessly. I am now a fan of Anaya and Everlong. These beauties are really on another level to be able to carry out such a plan flawlessly. And hats off to their unit members too. These guys are really the real deal!"
As for Kailen , he nodded quietly from above the forest where he was , satisfied with the outcome.
