Chapter 477: You are a genius among geniuses!
"You... you actually did it. That was not a bad swing just now. Keep at it. Do it again. Do it again before you forget the feeling." The old vampire became very excited at the prospect of Damon finally showing some progress.
Damon did not mind the guy and praised the little spark instead. ’Good. Can you do it one more time now?" His heart began racing with excitement. Would he actually be able to clear this test in this way?
He swung the hammer down again and this time too the rhythm was absolutely perfect. "Goldy, you are a god damn genius!" Damon grinned like a devil. He still couldn’t believe that he managed to find a loophole like this on an actual high-tier legacy.
On the side, the old ghost was going completely livid.
"Forget my words, young acolyte!"
"You a genius! You might not be much when it comes to smithing but in terms of understanding the ore and executing fire magic you are a born genius! You are a godly chosen!"
"You are a heaven blessed child who belongs to the path of smithing!"
"You are the star that shines once in a billion years!"
"You are a genius among geniuses! You carry the envy of the heaven’s themselves!"
"Ah ha ha ha! All these years of patience and waiting has not gone to waste! The heavens have not disappointed me! I am satisfied. I am extremely satisfied. You are a celestial ore in the rough and I can forge you to greatness! I have finally run into a monstrous genius who can carry my name for millennia to come and make me proud! I have found my disciple! I have found my disciple at last!"
Damon was sweating bullets, afraid that his little gimmick would be revealed anytime now but it looked like the ghost couldn’t really sense Goldy all that well. Maybe it just thought that Goldy was a normal fire sprite as it was extremely rare to come across a high-tier one.
Whatever the reason was, his hardwork and shamelessness was finally paying off.
Damon continued the show and kept at it as he swung his hammer again and again, everytime enjoying the effortless perfect swing and the satisfying feeling. A few seconds later, the old ghost actually ended up stopping him.
"That’s enough, young acolyte. You do not have to convince me of your qualifications anymore. I will officially accept you as my disciple now. I may not be alive right now but this last soul fragment of mine possesses all the knowledge I have scraped together in my lifetime. With my guidance, you will become the greatest Grandmaster smith this era has seen! Your fame will resound across galaxies! The entire cosmos will bow at your feet!"
The ghost became delirious and it continued rambling. It floated closer, its pale eyes almost wet as it stared at Damon as if he was his very own son or grandson.
Damon couldn’t help but feel some pity for the poor guy. He probably shouldn’t be deceiving him so badly but what the heck. Survival was everything and every little treasure mattered. He continued with the act and waited patiently for the main event to arrive.
The ghost had already mentioned that this was the final test. He even accepted him as the disciple. Surely, he must be taking out a godly treasure anytime now?
"Quick. Knowtow to me and accept me as your master." The ghost urged.
Damon nodded and like a obedient little student he knelt and bowed his head touching the ground, like a student would do to a master in this world.
Immediately, a system notification sounded.
[Ding! You have bound with a soul fragment.]
Damon froze, then felt a warm, heavy pressure slide into his chest. The ghost’s eyes softened. "Good. The bond is sealed. Now that I have no more connections to this place, this entire area will be losing its integrity soon. Leave this place at once and summon me when we are at a better location."
The old ghost then disappeared, his voice alone sounding in Damon’s mind. "We start training the first thing. Now that you have accepted me as your master, I will be training you day and night. I will be with you every step of the way. I will mold you into the best this era has ever seen. I will-"
Damon quickly tuned out the old ghost and looked around with wide eyes. The old vampire was indeed not lying. The entire place had already started quaking and rocks were falling around him left and right.
But what about his legacy treasure? Fuck! All he got was another voice in his head? He thought he was scamming the damned guy and instead, he was the one who got scammed!
Fuck it. Damon shook his head. He did not have time to think about this right now. He needed to get out of here now and focus on what was important right now. His blood hall raid!
He pulled up his system screen and tried activating his blood hall teleportation option first but unfortunately, that was greyed out. Maybe it was because he was in the dark faction continent while the blood hall was in the light faction continent?
Without hesitation, he took out a teleportation scroll and tore it open. At least this method worked. The scroll burst into a white light that wrapped around him. For a blink he felt dizzy, then the world ripped apart and stitched back together.
He landed on hard ground with a grunt. The light faded.
Damon immediately felt many pairs of crimson eyes on him. He looked around to find that he had landed right in the middle of a huge hall with several vampires walking about here and there.
Among the many faces, there was a familiar face as well.
"I thought we just said goodbye to each other." Hinata walked over with a warm smile on her face.
