Chapter 897: Chapter 899: Seemingly Seeking Credit?

Xu Nian’an quickly hung up the phone. Explaining everything to Ji Ying would definitely take more than a few minutes. Instead of wasting time and phone bills, it was better to head home early and explain everything to Ji Ying clearly once he was back.

On the way, Xu Nianhua ate a piece of brown sugar and leaned against the seat, drowsily.

Pei Yicheng tried to drive as smoothly as possible, so Xu Nianhua could sleep more comfortably.

By the time they reached Shuanghe Village, it was already completely dark.

As the car lights shone on the Xu Family’s house, Xu Qinghe and Ji Ying both stood at the doorway. Seeing Pei Yicheng’s jeep, they walked forward with concern.

"Uncle, Auntie." Pei Yicheng greeted them first, then walked to the other side, leaned down, and gently called Xu Nianhua, saying, "Nianhua, we’re home."

"Hmm?"

Xu Nianhua was half-awake, her bright eyes still sleepy. If the timing weren’t inappropriate, Pei Yicheng would really want to give her a big kiss.

Pei Yicheng suppressed his mischievous thoughts and gently said, "We’re home."

Xu Nianhua rubbed her eyes and indeed saw that Xu Qinghe and Ji Ying were in front of the car. She hurriedly wanted to get out, but since she had just woken up and also donated so much blood, her feet felt faint the moment they hit the ground.

Pei Yicheng quickly supported her and said, "It’s okay to be a bit hungry now; it’s not urgent."

He wanted to carry her into the house, but with Uncle and Auntie watching, they would surely worry more if they saw him carrying her in. Nianhua might also get angry!

"Dinner is ready at home; you can eat as soon as you wash your hands," Ji Ying said with a smile, and asked, "Your older brother and second brother haven’t arrived yet?"

Just as she spoke, Xu Nian’an and Xu Nianji drove back as well.

"Hurry home, it’s time to eat soon." Ji Ying quickly turned and went back into the house, busying herself in the kitchen.

Pei Yicheng supported Xu Nianhua and winked slyly, as if seeking credit.

"Thank you," Xu Nianhua said softly. Pei Yicheng’s words just now had greatly eased her parents’ worries.

"A verbal thank you isn’t enough, is it?" Pei Yicheng whispered beside her ear.

Xu Nianhua glanced sideways, her big eyes seemed to ask, "How do you want me to thank you?"

"How about a kiss?" Pei Yicheng’s eyes sparkled with mischief.

Xu Nianhua rolled her eyes dramatically, as if saying, "In your dreams!"

"Nianhua, come sit down. I made black chicken soup for you, with red dates and goji berries. Have a taste," Ji Ying said, handing her a large bowl of black chicken soup. She looked at Nianhua’s pale face with concern. It had taken so long for Nianhua to recover at home, and now she was back to how she was before.

Ji Ying thought to herself that she must cook more delicious meals for Nianhua in the coming days, to properly nourish her body and make up for all the blood she had lost.

"Thank you, Mom." Xu Nianhua’s eyes warmed with tears as she looked at the chicken soup. In the past, after she donated blood countless times, Fang Yue never made chicken soup for her, let alone bone broth. It was the housemaid who couldn’t bear it anymore and made her some bone broth to supplement her nutrition.

"Silly girl, I’m your mother," Ji Ying said as she turned and went into the kitchen. Zhou He was pregnant, and she had prepared a bowl for her as well. Zhou He quickly said, "Mom, give it all to little sister. I don’t need it."

"Sister-in-law, you should have it. I can’t finish such a big bowl myself," Xu Nianhua laughed broadly. The oppressive atmosphere at the hospital and the warmth here at home were worlds apart.

Suddenly, she felt very grateful and thankful that Fang Yue had despised her for being a daughter and abandoned her, allowing her to meet such a wonderful set of parents.
