Chapter 1976: Chapter 1976: Innocent Victims Suffer
The emotions were stirred by Li Yao’s words, intensifying the grief and rage in their hearts, making the attack even more frenzied.
Even the Divine King was furious. Although the pyramid was severely damaged with no other means of attack in the short term, even its ramming power alone required Li Yao to give his all.
Especially sensing the ferocity of the Ancient God’s body, they were amazed to discover that Li Yao had actually manifested the power level of the deities of this world in such a short time.
Though the deities of this world might not even possess demigod powers in the main plane, they were the pinnacle in this world.
This is also a limitation of the great world’s laws, with demigod level being the maximum a sub-plane can bear. Exceeding this limit, the deities of the main plane would have their powers constrained to this level when descending.
Li Yao lacked the Law and divinity; otherwise, with this body, he could definitely reach the maximum power this world could endure.
Exercising extraordinary power with a god’s body was already enough to make Amon and the kings grit their teeth. Neither side could endure a long struggle against Li Yao, who controlled the body of an Ancient God.
The once deadly enemies quickly allied once again, their power sources being identical made their cooperation seamless.
As their cooperation became more proficient, Li Yao was increasingly pressured.
When discussing power levels, all three sides were nearly equal, differing only in their methods.
The form created by the sea of blood and mountain of corpses was inherently loose; while the power level was sufficient and the impact area broad and wide, its issue was that although effective for mowing down, it was somewhat lacking against strong opponents of the same level, especially those with strong spiritual power, lacking a decisive strong attack.
Though the pyramid was damaged, its characteristic lethal methods remained, but it lacked variability. With the connections among the eight, killing any one of them was difficult, and their recovery rapid. Of course, this was a flaw, with the key being whether to leverage this, strong enough.
Their cooperation somewhat mitigated their respective shortcomings and could launch simultaneously. As they improved their synergy, Li Yao barely held his ground undefeated.
After all, Li Yao was only strong in spiritual power, without divinity, Divine Grid, nor supernatural wisdom toward the Law.
Yet, even though the Salary Kings’ powers had weakened, their combination was tremendously strong, accompanied by transcendent spiritual and skill level expertise, in concert with Amon, reducing Li Yao from exchanging blows to merely defending passively.
However, the Ancient God’s body was indeed formidable. Though it had sustained several severe injuries over a prolonged battle, the effect was minimal. Coupled with the Ancient God’s powerful regenerative and life absorption abilities, Li Yao remained undefeated.
On the contrary, the sea of blood was increasingly thinning, and the System’s two-hour limitation was nearing, causing both sides to have their thoughts and concerns.
Following their three-way battle, the entire city lay in ruins, the battle below having ceased long ago; there was no spirit left for fighting.
Constantly needing to guard against calamities from above, it wasn’t that any of the three sides were deliberately killing those below, but their battle was so fierce that it was impossible to control.
To say nothing of the rest, any side being knocked down would collapse a swathe of buildings, and many below died miserably just by being crushed, suffocated to death.
This included those players who were all on the verge of tears; with the Void turbulence outside, internal battles between the strong, they were caught in the crossfire.
They’d rather return to fighting monsters; even if they died, they could say it was due to lack of skill.
Crushed to death, or killed by the residuals of battle skills — what kind of nonsense was this — helpless against it, with no means to resist.
Many players were crushed to death after using invincibility skills in critical moments. Against their attacks, invincibility skills weren’t much stronger than eggshell defense, breaking in the same way.
Originally, a batch of players with the ability to hide perished; only a few hundred were left, and after more than an hour of battle, over half again had died.
Now fewer than three hundred remained, each resembling a frightened bird, constantly watching the battles flying overhead, frequently changing locations, running slow meant death.
Both the Undead and Sacred Teaching believers, as well as players, upon seeing any of the three parties, would not engage in combat; they were all running frantically for their lives.
No one noticed where Prairie Fire and Demoness’s true body were, nor could even the audience see it anymore.
They felt helpless as well, outside the city lay Void Turbulence, inside a battle of gods and demons, with streams of people running all over the city.
If the view were extensive enough, one could see the Void like an ocean, the original city like a peninsula; at this moment, it was gradually detaching from the mainland, like a lonely boat drifting in the sea.
The further it drifted from the mainland, the more violent and ferocious the Void turbulence became, constantly eroding and tearing at the city’s perimeter, with the massive Array letting out cries of unbearable strain.
"You two maniacs, I understand Amon’s desire for the body, but why do you others fight so desperately, intent on killing me? This body you shall not have, why not let go? Today, let’s part ways, or if things drag on until the city collapses, we will all be lost in the Void."
Li Yao was struck down, creating a huge crater on the ground with the ravaging shockwave sweeping some unfortunate souls into the air, torn apart instantly.
"Don’t even think about it. You were always so arrogant, so rampant in the past; now, falling to disadvantage, you think of withdrawing safely. Where in the world is there such a cheap thing? Even if I can’t have this body, I’ll destroy it myself; you won’t get it either."
Amon’s moods lifted seeing Li Yao’s intent to retreat, his attacks becoming even fiercer, with the overwhelming sea of blood nearly engulfing the entire city.
"If you are willing to let us reseal this body of the Evil God, we can promise to ensure your safe departure from here. Otherwise, don’t blame us for showing no mercy; I cannot guarantee what consequences might occur then," the Divine King, who previously seemed wilted, now spoke excitedly, having suffered quite a bit from Li Yao targeting him in the recent battle, which compounded his injuries, needing extensive recuperation afterward.
When it comes to hatred for Li Yao, aside from Amon, the Divine King might be one of those.
"A bunch of fools, truly think I’m afraid of you? This city will soon be torn apart by space; below are your followers and undead. If we retreat now, we can all leave intact, not out of fear for you. Since you care so little for their lives, eventually they face demise, so let me bring it. A bunch of dogs that won’t take wine but prefer punishment wine!"
As Li Yao spoke, the Reaper’s Scythe emitted an exceedingly brilliant light, accompanied by a deafening bang.
Clusters of interwoven runes exploded, causing the entire city to tremble violently, with earth-quaking booms.
The southeastern part of the city, impacted by the Void Turbulence, saw all runes instantly shatter, and the southeastern area’s structures collapsed in an instant...
