Chapter 1497: Chapter 1546: Chuanben 56 Failed
Kawamoto Goroku held the handgun, his body already trembling. His eyes were fixed on Li Yifei, feeling like he was facing a monster. He never imagined, even in his dreams, that Li Yifei would be such a formidable person. Moving like a specter, after just a few passes, all of Kawamoto’s subordinates were down, without even firing a shot.
"You... you don’t come any closer, or I’ll shoot." Kawamoto Goroku uttered the words with an almost palpable lack of confidence, nearly scared out of his wits. Li Yifei appeared, approaching slowly step by step despite the aimed gun, and Kawamoto immediately felt a sense of collapse. His gun was aimed at Li Yifei, but his hands were shaking, his arms trembling, his whole body was shaking. He couldn’t even pull the trigger.
Li Yifei smirked, baring his teeth that seemed like a demon from the darkness to Kawamoto. He backed up, and after a few steps, his body leaned against the fence, unable to retreat any further.
"I said, don’t come any closer, or else I’ll really shoot!" Kawamoto Goroku shouted loudly.
In another courtyard, the Yoshino Couple and Meng Xiaofei also listened to the unfolding events. It was too dark to see clearly, relying only on sound. Hearing these words, the Yoshino Couple relaxed. Yoshino recognized the voice of the thug leader from noon. His yelling meant that Li Yifei had already succeeded.
What exactly is Li Yifei, to be so formidable?
Indeed, what is Li Yifei, Kawamoto Goroku was pondering the same question. Li Yifei was only four or five meters away from him now. With Li Yifei’s speed, it would take less than a second to kill Kawamoto Goroku, but he didn’t. He looked calmly at Kawamoto, and with the threat hanging, Li Yifei simply asked, "Are you sure?"
Of course he wasn’t sure. Kawamoto Goroku trembled even more, looking ghastly pale, and said, "Who exactly are you? I... I surrender."
"Don’t... your surrender means nothing to me." Li Yifei chuckled, dashing Kawamoto’s last hopes with one sentence. His heart sank heavily; though he still held the gun, he didn’t believe he could hit Li Yifei, or else the man wouldn’t stand so nonchalantly in front of his gun.
For the first time in his life, Kawamoto Goroku felt such defeat, indescribable even compared to losing a territory battle.
Li Yifei didn’t want to waste more time. He powered up his feet, his figure blurred, and charged at Kawamoto Goroku.
Kawamoto’s vision blurred; instinctively, he wanted to fire the gun. But before he could, his hand was empty, his fingers nearly snapped aside. Yelling in pain, Kawamoto found himself losing control of his body just like during the day. The difference was that now his entire body was immobilized, only his eyes and mouth could move, still able to breathe.
Kawamoto Goroku howled, feeling like he wasn’t fighting a human. How else could someone move so fast and control his body?
His eyes rolled back as his body leaned against the fence, slowly sliding down, and Kawamoto Goroku fainted on the spot.
Li Yifei looked at Kawamoto Goroku, who was sprawled like mud, and shook his head. A foe of this caliber was really no challenge at all. Weak beyond belief.
Most of Kawamoto Goroku’s underlings were like dummies; those who had been groaning on the ground dared not make a sound. They feared being implicated themselves, all staring at Li Yifei as if they’d seen a ghost, clamping their mouths shut so as to not disturb him.
Li Yifei merely said, "Scram," and those people scurried away, nervously scrambling, forgetting to take their cars. As for the unconscious Kawamoto Goroku, it was as if these lackeys automatically forgot about him, no one cared what happened to him.
Li Yifei found a rope, tied the man to a tree, and then returned to the Yoshino household. Nodding at the three people in the house, he said, "Alright, it’s done."
The Yoshino Couple still didn’t understand what "it’s done" meant, but at least they knew Li Yifei had resolved the trouble, that those thugs had been dealt with.
After washing his hands, Li Yifei returned and said to Yoshino, "My acquaintance should be arriving soon. You don’t need to worry about the guy outside. When we leave tomorrow, I’ll have someone handle the follow-up, ensuring it won’t affect the fishing village."
Yoshino nodded, "Handle it if you can; if not, don’t push it. I’m not doubting you, it’s just this is a foreign country after all."
"Haha, I will. Then, we’ll head back to sleep. See you tomorrow." Li Yifei reached out to Meng Xiaofei, who grasped his hand happily, waving goodbye to the Yoshino Couple.
As they left, Meng Xiaofei looked at the state of their doorway, frowning and blaming how their flowers and plants had been trampled. Seeing Kawamoto Goroku tied to a tree, she snorted, feeling he had ruined their chat with the Yoshino Couple.
"Hmph, let the mosquitoes feed on you!" Meng Xiaofei said. The mosquitoes here were large, their bites leaving high welts. Being tied up outdoors, it was likely Kawamoto Goroku would be bitten a dozen times or more by morning.
Thinking of this, Meng Xiaofei felt a bit more at ease. She wrapped her arm around Li Yifei’s and walked into the house with him.
After washing up, the two embraced and lay on the bed. It was still early, and neither of them felt sleepy, especially Meng Xiaofei, who had just napped in the afternoon and had only recently woken up. She naturally didn’t feel tired.
Li Yifei said, "If you’re sleepy, sleep; if not, don’t," while fiddling with his phone. Meng Xiaofei used his stomach as a stage, and her five fingers danced on it, tapping rhythmically, sometimes speeding up and other times slowing down.
After a while, she suddenly exclaimed, "Brother Li!"
"Hmm?"
"I... I want to ask, what should I do when we get back?"
"Are you talking about your job?"
"Yeah... I’ve been thinking these past few days, and I really like this job. It’s just... after what’s happened, I’m afraid of being kidnapped again. It’s not just about me; it’s mostly your worries and those of the sisters!"
Li Yifei didn’t answer immediately. He frowned and thought seriously for a moment before saying to Meng Xiaofei, "If you like it, then go back to work after we return. If you’re worried, it’s simple. I’ll buy a few planes, and you can be our family’s private flight attendant."
As he said that, Li Yifei grinned, and Meng Xiaofei stuck out her tongue, chuckling, "But I can’t keep flying all the time. I like the feeling of soaring in the sky. Plus... don’t get mad, Brother Li, but I feel like staying home every day is too a cozy but kind of stifling. It’s like some of the sisters at home are already living like retirees..."
This statement was quite accurate, though few would say such things to Li Yifei or the family, as it didn’t sound nice. But when Meng Xiaofei said it, Li Yifei didn’t get upset. He thought about it earnestly and said, "We shouldn’t be cooped up at home every day. For now, it’s the only way, but once we’ve resolved the issues, everyone in the family can freely go out and do what they love. For now... I can’t guarantee your safety."
Saying this, Li Yifei felt a bit powerless too. But he wouldn’t believe things would stay this way. What are his efforts for if not for his family to live better, not huddled at home with restricted movement? Otherwise, what’s the point of establishing the Li family? No matter how much money there is, eating is just about getting full, and sleeping only requires a meter-wide bed.
So, all of this was not what Li Yifei wanted.
Meng Xiaofei nodded vigorously, scooted closer, tightly hugging Li Yifei’s arm, and said firmly, "I trust Brother Li. We’ll definitely be happier and more comfortable in the future."
"Hehe, soon. Once some enemies are dealt with, everyone will naturally be free."
"Yeah, yeah. Plus, we can learn more skills and strengthen ourselves, so we won’t be afraid of danger."
"That’s right." Li Yifei nodded.
The two chatted and laughed, and Meng Xiaofei resolved her concerns about what to do after returning. Li Yifei also took the opportunity to share some thoughts, feeling quite good.
It was late at night when they stopped talking, took turns showering, and came back to embrace each other. Li Yifei kissed Meng Xiaofei’s forehead, and the little girl pouted her plump lips, suddenly wanting to kiss Li Yifei—not on his face, but on his lips. But after hesitating for half a minute, she held back, lowered her head, wriggled her body, and snuggled closer to Li Yifei. Tonight, she didn’t mention helping Li Yifei with his physiological needs but obediently hugged him and slowly closed her eyes.
In the early morning, Li Yifei opened his eyes. He heard the roar of a plane about two hundred meters away. Soon, a series of footsteps and car engine sounds came, and Li Yifei quickly closed his eyes again, ignoring what was happening outside.
Meng Xiaofei also heard the roaring sound, smacked her small lips a few times, hummed a bit, and, without opening her eyes, instinctively sought out Li Yifei, hugging him again before slowly exhaling even breaths.
Outside, it was Koboto Kobayashi and his men. Koboto Kobayashi had flown in overnight and followed the location Li Yifei provided. After getting off the plane and walking a few steps, he saw the crime scene and the vehicles and traces of fighting, causing his face to darken.
Soon, he saw Kawamoto Goroku tied to a tree. Koboto Kobayashi stood in front of him, let out a few strange laughs, and motioned to his approaching men, who quickly understood his intent, nodded, and turned to leave.
Koboto Kobayashi’s confidence was now inflated to the extreme. Now in Japan, he was practically the underground emperor. Anyone daring to disrespect Li Yifei on his turf was an affront to his authority, and thus the fate of those fleeing thugs was bleak.
