Chapter 564: Chapter 431: The Aftermath of the Awards (Part 3)
"President Huang, Xiao Yu and I will head back first," Zhou Yun found an opportunity to say to Huang Zhong.
"Head back?" Huang Zhong frowned. "Leaving now is really disrespectful."
Zhou Yun had been discontent for a while and said, "We are not here to humor others."
"Miss High and Mighty, you’re not here to humor others, but we need to sell our film," Huang Zhong whispered, "I’ve already covered for you when it comes to drinking; can’t you just do me the honor of staying a little longer? Everyone is here for you. If you leave, what kind of message does that send?"
Zhou Yun said, "Look at that guy in front of us; his lustful eyes tell it all."
Huang Zhong chuckled, "What does that even have to do with anything?"
Zhou Yun glanced at Huang Zhong and said, "Disgusting."
"Miss High and Mighty, you may find me disgusting, but please, I beg you to do me this favor. These two individuals represent tens of millions," Huang Zhong implored.
With the conversation having reached this point, Zhou Yun could only compromise.
"Find someone to take her back first," said Zhou Yun.
Huang Zhong glanced at Li Yu, didn’t waste words, and nodded, "Leave it to me."
At the KTV, Director Liu was holding Yu Yhan’s hand and lifted a microphone in the other, finding Zhou Yun, he said, "Miss Zhou, if you can’t drink, could you at least sing a song for everyone?"
Zhou Yun wasn’t going to throw a fit there, so she smiled and said, "Okay, Director Liu, what would you like to hear?"
"Anything you sing, I’d love to hear."
So Zhou Yun picked the song "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau."
She belted out the song with an overwhelming force, her voice cracking on the ’eighteen bends of the mountain road’, the higher the pitch, the louder she screamed, effectively silencing the lively chatter around her.
When the song ended, Director Liu was dumbfounded.
He probably could never have imagined that such a fairy-like beauty as Zhou Yun could sing with such a powerful and heart-wrenching force.
Holding the microphone, Zhou Yun faced Director Liu and asked, "Director Liu, did you enjoy the ’Qinghai-Tibet Plateau’ that I sang?"
Director Liu was speechless for a while, then said, "...I liked it."
Zhou Yun giggled, put down the microphone, and sat by the song selection console, "Tell me if you have any songs you want to pick, and I’ll choose them for you."
Sitting in the corner, she kept herself distanced from the drama.
Once everyone started singing, Zhou Yun made the excuse of going to the restroom to slip out of the private room and headed to the end of the hallway to get some fresh air by the window.
The stars were always twinkling.
Zhou Yun was so enchanted that she didn’t even notice someone approaching from behind.
"Is this your first time experiencing this kind of scene?"
Startled, Zhou Yun quickly turned around and saw it was Yin Zhou, and she relaxed.
"It’s you."
"Why so startled?"
"You suddenly appearing behind me like that, just like a ghost, of course I was scared!" said Zhou Yun.
Yin Zhou began to laugh.
"Have you been drinking quite a bit?" Zhou Yun asked.
Yin Zhou nodded, "It’s okay, I’m not drunk. You escaping by yourself isn’t very loyal."
"Ah, don’t mention it. If I knew it was this kind of dinner, I would’ve left straight away."
"That would have been very disrespectful."
"Yeah, so I forced myself to stay until now," Zhou Yun lamented with a pout.
Yin Zhou said, "Your company protects you pretty well. In our case, learning to drink is a necessary skill."
Zhou Yun frowned, "Is that so?"
"Because there’s a lot of competition, and if you want to stand out, you’ve got to figure out a way on your own," Yin Zhou sighed, "You’re lucky."
Zhou Yun thought that, compared to others, she really was lucky. Sheltered by Zhou Lan, she hadn’t been to these kinds of drinking events in her debut year and rose to fame unexpectedly.
"Aren’t you going back?" Yin Zhou asked.
Zhou Yun replied, "Going back just means listening to their wailing."
Yin Zhou shrugged and said, "Then I’ll head back first."
"Ah, then I’ll go back with you," Zhou Yun said.
"We can’t just leave Xiao Gu there by himself," Yin Zhou laughed.
"You’re really quite loyal."
At twelve o’clock, it finally ended.
Yin Zhou saw Director Cheng off to his car and smiled warmly as he said goodbye.
Turning around, he saw Yu Yhan and Liu getting cozy, staggering to the car together.
"Director Liu, be careful not to bump your head," Yu Yhan ushered him into the car.
The driver stood by.
Director Liu clung to Yu Yhan’s hand and refused to let go, saying, "Let’s continue drinking, Xiao Yhan."
Yu Yhan replied, "Sure, Director Liu, let’s keep drinking, but you’ve got to let go of my hand first. How can I drink if you’re holding onto it?"
Director Liu smiled and let go of her hand.
Yu Yhan gave Director Liu a push to help him inside.
