Chapter 389 Slaying the Demon

In a deep mountain south of Linfu County, a place that was usually deserted, a young man now appeared.

Under the moonlight, Ji Yuan, clad in a light blue divine robe, walked through the pitch-black mountain forest. Golden divine light surged in his eyes, making it as bright as day.

In a short while, he arrived at a swamp. Though it seemed he was walking on soggy mud, he was actually hovering an inch above the ground.

Suddenly, his expression shifted, and his gaze fell upon the center of the swamp, a mire exuding a foul stench.

After a few breaths, the calm mire suddenly churned, and a toad, about ten feet in size, with a dark green and black skin, revealed itself under the faint moonlight.

Its pair of eyes emitted red light, and it looked with ferocity, then a hint of wariness appeared. The handsome youth in the divine robe before it made it feel an innate restraint and a sense akin to death.

In Ji Yuan's eyes, this demonic creature before him was entwined with strands of black and gray energy, a manifestation of sin reaching a certain depth. Generally, even a murderer who had committed countless sins would only exude a fierce aura. For sin to condense into energy that entwined one's body, one could imagine how many taboos had been broken.

"Are you the Water God of Xiaoyuan Mountain to the east?"

The toad spoke human words, clearly having sensed the divinehead within the youth before it. In the territory of Linfu County, besides the River God of Linfu River, there were no other beings possessing divine bodies and golden forms. This was because other deities had been dealt with more than a hundred years ago.

Ji Yuan did not respond. Instead, he slowly raised a palm and then suddenly slapped downwards.

In the blink of an eye, divine power surged forth, transforming into a giant palm that fiercely struck down, smashing the unprepared demonic creature heavily into the mire.

Boom!!!

A large amount of mud splattered, shooting outwards in all directions. The entire mire was destroyed by this strike, leaving only a deep pit filled with muddy water. At the bottom of the pit, a blood-covered toad let out a croaking sound that echoed throughout the forest.

It leaped out of the deep pit, opening its huge mouth in mid-air. A dark shadow immediately shot out, piercing the air towards the human youth on the ground.

Seeing this, Ji Yuan's eyebrows slightly raised. Without any visible movement, water light emerged around him and condensed into water blades. In the next breath, the water blades flew towards the air, slashing at the dark shadow that was piercing through the void!

A peculiar 'puchi puchi' sound was heard, followed by a scattering of foul-smelling blood in the air. The blood was a dark green color, and when it fell onto the soil, it even emitted a sizzling sound, indicating its highly toxic nature.

In a short while, the toad landed on the ground in the distance. The dark shadow it had spat out earlier was drawn back into its mouth, and its tongue was seen to be covered with many scratches. Dark green blood dripped from its large mouth, its toxicity even corroding the soil. It stared at the newly formed deity before it with ill intent, its previous disdain quietly receding. Although this deity had only recently condensed its divinehead, it was clearly not easy to deal with. In the previous exchange, it had suffered two hidden losses. With its cultivation of over two hundred years, it could not gain any advantage.

Just as the toad was contemplating how to deal with the enemy before it. Ji Yuan shook his head lightly. He had no time to waste here. With a thought, six heavy water beads flew out from his body, slowly circling around him. Then, he softly exhaled a word, 'Go,' and the six heavy water beads immediately shot through the air, smashing fiercely towards the distant demonic creature.

Golden divine light erupted in the forest, accompanied by streaks of blue water light. A heaviness, no less than that of a mountain peak, immediately permeated the surrounding woods.

Seeing this, the toad opened its mouth and spat out its inner core. The demonic power within it poured out, and its body was instantly engulfed in surging demonic energy. At this moment, it felt the threat of death. If those fist-sized beads were allowed to strike it, even with its powerful physique, it would undoubtedly end up utterly annihilated! However, even with its all-out effort, the demon could not change its fate.

When the first heavy water bead struck, its demonic power collapsed. As the second bead fell, within the heavy water light, its inner core was smashed and sent flying into the nearby forest. The third and fourth heavy water beads descended. The surging demonic energy on its body disintegrated, and its strong and sturdy flesh was instantly covered with bloody marks, dark green blood splattering out. The last two heavy water beads struck down, and the entire demon was torn apart. Its body was shattered into mists of blood by the immense power.

In an instant, the six heavy water beads flew back, water light swirling around them, washing away all impurities and killing intent. Ji Yuan nodded with satisfaction, retracted the magical treasures into his body, then reached out and, with the pull of divine power, a mountain river bag and an inner core landed in his hand. He roughly examined them, ensuring there were no hidden traps, and then put them away. He did not leave immediately but stood in place, chanting a divine mantra. Layers of divine light surged from his body, illuminating the entire forest as if it were day. When the long incantation ended, all the divine light converged. The soul of the demon, which should have vanished, was actually condensed anew. Ji Yuan flicked a divine power, imprisoning it in a pre-prepared jade chip, and then turned to leave the place.

He walked on the ground, covering several dozen feet with each step. In less than half an incense stick's time, he arrived at a desolate mansion near Linfu River. As soon as he approached, he could sense a demonic aura soaring into the sky. Immediately, he saw a demon leap out of the mansion, then land heavily before the main gate. Clearly, the creature had sensed Ji Yuan, whose aura was not concealed, and the inexplicable sense of crisis.

"Who goes there!" the demon, which had a human form but a deer's head, immediately let out an angry roar.

However, Ji Yuan had no intention of paying it any mind. Before he had even fully stabilized himself, he reached out and grabbed the void beside him. In his palm, a long whip appeared. He lightly swung his arm, and the light blue whip body immediately lashed out, water light rippling. It actually broke through the thick demonic power and landed on the deer-headed, human-bodied demon.

Slap!!!

In an instant, the demon was whipped until its skin split and flesh tore. Its body was sent flying backward, crashing into the courtyard behind it. Seeing this, Ji Yuan immediately extended his left hand, and six heavy water beads appeared in his palm, slowly rotating. In the next breath, he tossed the six heavy water beads, held by his palm, gently upwards. As divine power surged into them, their restraints were instantly activated. The six heavy water beads rose into the air, more than ten feet above the ground. As they circled, they suddenly expanded by more than ten times, each one slightly larger than a millstone.
