Chapter 355 Catching the Horse

Unaware of what had happened, Xiao Mo sat constrainedly on the office sofa.

She counted the time, but an hour passed, and Yao Yifan still hadn't arrived.

He seemed very busy.

Xiao Mo thought about coming again tomorrow, deciding today wasn't the right time, and the fruit basket was also damaged.

Just as she was about to get up, the door suddenly opened from the outside.

Seeing someone in the office, Yao Yifan's tie-loosening motion paused, then he awkwardly lowered his hand.

"You're finally here!"

"Why are you here?"

Yao Yifan hadn't expected Xiao Mo to come here, and no one had informed him.

Xiao Mo handed him the flowers.

Yao Yifan adjusted the glasses on his nose. "For me?"

Xiao Mo nodded. "Thank you. Does your arm still hurt?"

It didn't hurt, men's tolerance was stronger than women's, but for a workaholic like Yao Yifan, who dedicated twenty hours a day to work, it was incredibly inconvenient!

Although CEO Lou had given him leave, his workload for the month wasn't finished, and Yao Yifan wouldn't allow himself to rest.

"It doesn't hurt," Yao Yifan answered her question.

Xiao Mo breathed a sigh of relief, then realized Yao Yifan didn't seem to like flowers.

He took them and casually placed them on his desk.

Indeed, men probably didn't like flowers. CEO Lou had mentioned earlier that he liked fruit, it would have been great if the fruit basket hadn't been broken.

"Is there anything else?" Yao Yifan asked, looking up.

Xiao Mo hesitated for a few seconds, still not taking out the fruit basket hidden behind the sofa. "No, then... then I'll leave."

"Mm, thank you."

He was intently staring at the documents on his computer screen.

"Oh, right, do you like fruit?"

As she reached the door, Xiao Mo suddenly turned back and asked.

Yao Yifan was calculating a very important number with utmost concentration. He hadn't heard Xiao Mo's question clearly and casually replied, "No."

"Ah?"

Didn't CEO Lou say he liked fruit?

"Is there anything else?"

Yao Yifan looked up at her, his brows furrowed because of the incorrect numbers.

Xiao Mo, however, interpreted this as him being impatient with her.

Feeling a little hurt, she said, "Nothing," and left.

A few seconds later, Yao Yifan finally realized, "Fruit?"

He walked out of the office, but Xiao Mo was already gone.

He didn't chase after her, but as he closed the door, he caught sight of something behind the sofa.

He walked over and saw a flattened fruit basket precariously leaning against the sofa.

Before he could reach for it, the fruit basket, unbalanced, finally fell over.

The fruits inside spilled out: apples, bananas, a variety of them. It was strange, though, that they were all damaged.

Yao Yifan picked up an apple to examine it. The skin was thin, it looked fresh, clearly selected with care. The damaged parts were mostly from the fall.

At that moment, a staff member walked over. Yao Yifan casually asked, "Who put this fruit basket here for me?"

The woman paused. "The lady who was just in your office."

Yao Yifan blinked, why would she hide it?

The woman, who had witnessed everything, exclaimed, "Assistant Yao, you have no idea what just happened, it was so dramatic!"

Yao Yifan wasn't interested, but he couldn't stop the woman from chattering.

Fortunately, she was articulate, and in a few words, explained the whole incident.

Yao Yifan looked at the apple in his hand and fell silent. "Then why did she hide these?"

"Maybe... she felt embarrassed, afraid you'd laugh at her, since they were all damaged like this."

So that's how it was.

"Assistant Yao, is that your girlfriend?"

Yao Yifan glanced at her, picked up his jacket, and walked out. "No."

The woman looked knowingly. "As if."

...

Song Xi slept again. When she woke up, she smelled food cooking in the air.

She thought Xiao Mo had returned, but when she went out to check, it was Lou Yuming.

"You really can sleep." Hearing the sound, Lou Yuming turned and looked.

The woman was wearing a thin nightgown, her legs slender, her skin like congealed fat, her hair cascading behind her like seaweed, exuding a lazy, just-woken-up cuteness.

Lou Yuming's eyes darkened. Having just enjoyed himself that morning, he couldn't handle her looking like this.

"Go put on some clothes."

Song Xi walked directly to the dining table, sat down, and crossed her legs. "I already am."

That little bit of fabric could hardly be called clothes.

As Lou Yuming brought dishes to the table, he threw his jacket, casually draped over a chair, onto her.

"No need... Achoo!"

Feeling the man's sharp gaze, Song Xi obediently put on the jacket.
