Chapter 245 Is It Worth It

“That won’t do. What about then…” Meeting the man’s deep gaze, Shao Cheng’s voice abruptly stopped.

Lou Yuming said, “You can go.”

Song Xi glanced at him and quickly turned to leave.

Shao Cheng grumbled from behind, “Why is she like this? I thought she was quite nice.”

“Your attitude towards her wasn’t like this before,” Lou Yuming said unhurriedly.

Shao Cheng’s lips stiffened, his expression tinged with embarrassment.

Lou Yuming gazed at the woman’s slender figure, his lips forming a straight line. “You’re too goal-oriented, and your words are too harsh.”

Shao Cheng pushed his glasses up. “…I’ve always spoken like this.”

Lou Yuming pondered for a moment, recalling what Song Xi had said earlier. “Go find the cat Liu Sisi raises.”

“Okay.” After taking a couple of steps, Shao Cheng suddenly turned back and questioned, “Weren’t you two arguing? How come I felt like you were defending her just now?”

Lou Yuming shot him a glare, and Shao Cheng quickly slipped away.

Song Xi was right. That cat meant a great deal to Liu Sisi.

Upon seeing the cat, she calmed down completely, as if she had found a spiritual anchor.

Mr. Liu sighed and said, “That cat was a birthday gift I gave her when she turned eighteen.”

No wonder.

Lou Yuming said slowly, “Mr. Liu, I suggest you and your daughter sit down and have a good talk.”

Mr. Liu snorted, “She’s only thinking about her boyfriend now. If she cared about me as a father at all, she wouldn’t have threatened me with her life!”

“This has nothing to do with you, and I know you’ve done your best. But frankly, with Sisi like this, I’m in no state to discuss projects. Let’s cooperate another time.”

“Mr. Liu!” Shao Cheng couldn’t give up now that it had come to this. He glanced at Lou Yuming and said, “Let’s try again.”

After Mr. Liu left, Lou Yuming asked in a deep voice, “What are you plotting now?”

Shao Cheng said, “Since it’s come to this, why don’t we start with Zhou Qiao and let Liu Sisi see this man for who he truly is!”

Lou Yuming’s brows furrowed slightly, but he didn’t dismiss the suggestion.

“Last time, I hired someone to take some photos of him talking to another woman at a café.”

Lou Yuming lowered his gaze and his expression froze.

…So the man she saw that day was Zhou Qiao.

The shadow in his heart vanished. Before Shao Cheng could react, he tore the photos to shreds and threw them into the trash can.

Shao Cheng was shocked. “? What are you doing!”

Lou Yuming said, “That person is Song Xi.”

Shao Cheng asked, “What???”

“Why are they together?”

Lou Yuming paced forward. “You should ask her.”

Meanwhile, Song Yang’s finger twitched.

Hard work pays off.

“Sister Wang, is it true? Are you sure you didn’t see wrong?” Song Xi confirmed again and again.

Sister Wang nodded solemnly. “Miss Song, I saw it with my own eyes.”

Song Xi’s eyes grew a little moist. “I’ll call the doctor right away!”

The doctor examined him carefully and said this was a precursor to waking up.

Song Xi asked excitedly, “How long will it take?”

“Conservatively, within six months.”

The worry that had weighed on Song Xi for years finally lifted.

The doctor added, “However, the follow-up treatment costs will be several times more expensive than now. You need to be prepared with the funds.”

Song Xi nodded. After the doctor left, she couldn’t contain her excitement and squatted down, crying softly.

Sister Wang comforted her. “Miss Song, Xiao Yang is finally going to wake up. This is good news, you should be happy!”

“Knock, knock–”

There was a knock at the door.

Sister Wang went to open it.

“Hello, I’m looking for Song Xi.”

Song Xi looked up. Her expression of joyful tears froze when she saw Zhou Qiao’s face.

Song Xi didn’t know Zhou Qiao’s purpose in coming, but the crutch he held and the bandage on his arm did lower her guard.

Zhou Qiao said, “I didn’t expect you to have a younger brother. But don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone about this.”

Patients walked by. Song Xi lowered her head and tightened her grip on her mask.

Zhou Qiao took out a bank card. “This is all my savings. Miss Song, as long as you can help me rescue Sisi, all this money is yours!”

Song Xi looked at the bank card, then at his injuries, and asked, “Is it worth it?”

“Anything is worth it to be with Sisi, even if it means dying!”

Song Xi pondered for a moment, then pushed the bank card back. She suddenly asked a question that bewildered Zhou Qiao and was completely unexpected.

“Was that cat something you gave to Liu Sisi?”

Zhou Qiao was stunned for a second, then quickly nodded. “Yes, I gave it to her after we got together!”

A flicker of emotion flashed in Song Xi’s eyes. She nodded. “I will help you.”

Zhou Qiao was immensely grateful. “Miss Song, you are truly a great person. This is my contact information. I’ll be waiting for you at the hospital entrance on Saturday night. Sisi is in your hands!”
