Cang Ming

Chapter 31 Jealousy

Inside the villa.

Song Xi woke up in the evening. The moonlight, filtering through the sheer curtains, spilled a layer of silver, making the bedroom exceptionally tranquil.

She rubbed her sleepy eyes and then realized her injuries had already been treated. The methods were meticulous, clearly professional.

She was not wearing anything below her waist, only a white shirt. It was loose, and she could still faintly smell a cool sandalwood scent.

"...Lou Yuming?"

Her voice was as small as a newborn kitten's, full of trial and uncertainty.

Receiving no response, Song Xi got out of bed and walked out of the room.

Outside, the lights were bright, and she could faintly hear voices.

She peered down and saw two men sitting on the leather sofa. One was Lou Yuming; she didn't recognize the other, but he was gentle, refined, and clearly of an important background.

They were talking and laughing, and the atmosphere was surprisingly harmonious.

This was the first time she had ever seen someone who could hold a conversation with Lou Yuming. It was truly a miracle!

Downstairs, Lou Yuming sensed her gaze, looked up, and beckoned her.

"Come here."

His voice was magnetic, a stark contrast to his usual demeanor. He was dressed in black casual wear, looking lazy and relaxed. Most surprisingly, he was wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, making him appear scholarly and distinguished, with an approachable air.

Song Xi was momentarily mesmerized.

It wasn't until Lou Yuming called out again that she snapped back to attention, her ears red as she walked over.

"Shao Cheng." Lou Yuming glanced at her bare lower body, his eyes darkening imperceptibly. "Tell him if you're feeling unwell anywhere. He's a doctor."

Shao Cheng smiled modestly, "Half a doctor. Haven't found a hospital yet."

"It's your fault for being picky," he suddenly scoffed, sounding inexplicably annoyed.

Shao Cheng pulled at the corner of his mouth helplessly, long accustomed to this person's unpredictable moods.

Song Xi, oblivious to the subtle shift in atmosphere, meekly said, "Dr. Shao."

Her voice was soft and sweet, with a hint of coyness from just waking up.

The man behind her darkened considerably. Shao Cheng suddenly understood and, not wanting to further antagonize him, stood up.

"I have to go. Oh, right, it's best to get your arm casted at the hospital. Don't get water on other areas for now. This is foreign ointment, excellent for scar removal. When you run out, just tell Old Lou, and I'll arrange it."

Song Xi was incredibly grateful, "Thank you, Dr. Shao!"

"You're welcome." He glanced at the expressionless Lou Yuming, thinking him stingy.

As he reached the doorway, he suddenly turned back, saying meaningfully, "Also, while the wounds shouldn't be covered, girls should still pay attention to staying warm. It's... good for your health."

Song Xi looked down at her bare legs, her face instantly flushing crimson. She shyly pulled the hem of her shirt down.

She thought there was no one else in the villa! Oh, this was so embarrassing.

After Shao Cheng left, Song Xi planned to change her clothes. She had taken only a couple of steps when her wrist was suddenly seized. In a dizzying blur, she was pulled into Lou Yuming's embrace.

"Where are you going?"

Song Xi fidgeted uncomfortably, "To... change."

Lou Yuming squeezed her thigh, his voice laced with displeasure, "You wandered around in front of outsiders for so long, and now you're embarrassed?"

Song Xi hissed in pain.

"Stop acting. I didn't use much force."

Her pretense exposed, Song Xi put on an innocent expression.

Lou Yuming snorted coldly, reaching out to pinch her cheek with a hint of indulgence. "Five minutes. Get dressed, and I'll take you to the hospital."

"Why go to the hospital?"

Lou Yuming looked at her unable to lift her hand and raised an eyebrow, "You don't want the cast?"

Song Xi's eyes lit up with surprise, "You'll accompany me!"

Lou Yuming turned his face away, "I happen to be free tonight..."

"I'll go right away!"

Before he could finish speaking, she skipped upstairs.
