Cang Ming

Chapter 57 Not Worthy

The principal was utterly bewildered. Where did an aunt suddenly appear from?!

It was over, completely over. Song Xi's move had been a complete misstep!

She was filled with regret and tried to salvage the situation by praising Anna to the skies.

Women generally enjoyed compliments, and Anna was no exception.

She hid behind Lou Yu Ming, acting shy.

Lou Yu Ming, however, was extremely indifferent. He glanced up, wanting to see Song Xi's reaction.

But her skin was like snow, her expression unperturbed.

She seemed utterly unfazed by Anna, or Anna's relationship with him.

A flicker of annoyance suddenly ignited within Lou Yu Ming. As if to provoke her, when Anna next poured him wine, he deliberately placed his hand over hers and said in a magnetic voice, "You drink."

Anna was ecstatic, her composure slightly slipping. "Yu Ming..."

Her sweet, soft tone made all the men present feel weak.

Song Xi's palm tightened, her slender fingers gripping the wine glass until they turned white.

The dinner party was tedious and dull. The attendees seemed incapable of saying anything other than flattery, creating an awkward and unsettling atmosphere.

Song Xi increasingly felt that coming here had been a mistake. It seemed the matter of Yang Yang's transfer couldn't be entrusted to Lou Yu Ming.

After all, Zhang Qi had already called her "aunt."

"Heh, now you know your place, don't you?"

Teacher Sun took a sip of wine and said sarcastically, "People should have self-awareness. Otherwise, they really think they can soar and become a phoenix."

Song Xi knew he was talking about her. She pursed her lips, saying nothing.

Seeing her lack of reaction, Teacher Sun prodded further, "I actually thought you had the capability before. But I didn't expect this. See? She's the one who truly matches him. Look at Miss Anna's demeanor, a lady from a good family. And then look at you?"

He let out a scornful laugh. "If I were you, I wouldn't even have the face to come back!"

Song Xi didn't know what she had done to provoke such animosity from him.

But she did have a surge of anger with nowhere to vent. So, she spun her wine glass, faster and faster, until the wine finally splashed out, landing directly on Teacher Sun's white shirt.

He shouted, "What are you doing?!"

The commotion drew everyone's attention.

Song Xi's expression was calm, devoid of apology. "Sorry, it was unintentional."

Teacher Sun was furious. "If you're drinking, drink properly! Didn't your parents teach you anything?!"

Song Xi's face turned cold. "Then as a teacher, shouldn't Teacher Sun know about being a role model and dedicating oneself to one's profession? Ah, no, you're certainly doing a splendid job in dedicating yourself to your profession."

Teacher Sun's expression turned flustered. "You! What nonsense are you spouting!"

Her defiance surprised Lou Yu Ming. He watched her leisurely.

Teacher Sun nervously glanced at the others, a sense of panic rising within him.

Seeing this, the principal immediately walked over and tugged at Song Xi. "What are you doing! You've caused so much trouble today, and you dare to argue here! Teacher Sun is your teacher. Apologize to him quickly!"

"Why?" Song Xi retorted, unconvinced.

The principal warned her, "Song Xi! Do you still want to graduate? Don't think you're so great just because you put on a show today. I'm telling you, you're still just a student. Know your place! Apologize!"

He hadn't spoken like this before.

A cold smirk curved Song Xi's lips. She looked at Lou Yu Ming again, wanting to know what he would say.

But Lou Yu Ming merely leaned back lazily in his chair. He met her gaze, but only raised an eyebrow, and finally uttered coldly, "She should apologize."
