Chapter 44 Clean Up

Song Xi and Lou Yu Ming walked out of the guest room after the banquet had ended.

Lou Yu Ming left first, reminding her to clean up before he departed.

Fortunately, there weren't many people left in the villa. When Song Xi went downstairs, she only saw Ge Bai Tao chatting with a servant in the living room.

"Sister Xi, where did you go just now? I thought you had left," Ge Bai Tao said, immediately approaching her. Noticing the unusual appearance of Song Xi's lips, she couldn't help but ask, "Why are your lips swollen?"

Song Xi panicked and immediately clenched her fist, coughing twice. "I felt a bit unwell, so I just found a place to rest. I'm sorry, Bai Tao."

"It's alright, it's alright. Then I'll have someone send you back to rest immediately!"

"No, no, you don't have to. I've already called a car."

Seeing her resolute attitude, Ge Bai Tao felt a bit disappointed. "Then take care. Oh, right, Sister Xi, last time at the hospital, I was inconsiderate. I should have informed you beforehand. I apologize. This is some West Lake Longjing tea I got from my grandfather. I know you like it, so please take it."

Song Xi hadn't expected her to be so thoughtful about even these small details, and a touch of emotion welled up in her heart.

"I know your good intentions, of course. Please don't call me 'Sister' anymore; it sounds awkward. This tea is too precious; I..."

"I prepared this specifically for you. If you don't accept it, it means you haven't forgiven me, and you don't consider me a friend!"

"Then... alright."

After Song Xi left, Ge Bai Tao cast a suspicious glance upstairs and suddenly asked, "Where are the security camera feeds for the house?"

...

As Song Xi walked out of the villa, a black SUV was parked a hundred meters away. Recalling everything that had just happened, her expression darkened, and she turned to leave.

The hazard lights flashed conspicuously in her direction. Seeing her continue walking, a piercing horn blast suddenly sounded, shockingly loud.

Fearing she might attract attention, Song Xi reluctantly returned. The car door slammed shut with a deafening bang.

Yao Yi Fan flinched, stealing a glance at Lou Yu Ming. He showed no reaction, even appearing somewhat permissive. Realizing this, he wisely lowered the partition and drove away.

The atmosphere was somewhat silent.

Song Xi deliberately angled her body away, remaining silent and avoiding his gaze.

Lou Yu Ming patted the seat beside him, beckoning as he might to a pet cat or dog in the past.

But this time, the pet did not obediently come over.

Lou Yu Ming's expression softened slightly, and he clearly became impatient.

"Have you had enough of this tantrum? If you don't want to continue, get out of the car. Don't give me that attitude."

For a fleeting moment, Song Xi genuinely considered getting out. She even entertained the thought of slapping him before she did.

But after calming down, she knew she couldn't. Her brother's medical expenses were still a distant hope, and she had already fallen out with Zhang Qi. Without Lou Yu Ming, she didn't know how she would manage in the future.

Song Xi felt a sense of patheticness. She took a deep breath, turned around, smiled, and took the initiative.

Before her kiss could land, Lou Yu Ming turned his head away, dodging it.

He frowned, as if catching a scent. "Didn't I tell you to clean up?"

He's disgusted by his own smell? Song Xi sneered inwardly and, catching him off guard, leaned in again.

Unfortunately, she still missed his lips.

"Song Xi!"

He pushed her away angrily, his face contorted with fury.

Song Xi smiled with innocent charm. "Does it smell? I think it's fine."

She thought she had turned the tables on him, her smugness quite evident.

Lou Yu Ming let out a cold laugh, his tone laced with mockery. "Fine. Since you like it so much, we'll do it again next time."

Song Xi's smile vanished instantly.

Lou Yu Ming's thin lips curled into a smirk. *You think you can fight me.*

"Where are we going?"

A moment later, he spoke casually, his voice sounding somewhat lazy.

So he knew she had left, but he hadn't come looking for her.

A pang of闷(mèn - stuffiness/depression) arose in her chest. Song Xi said petulantly, "Of course, I'm going back to my own home. I don't have any official status living with you..."

"That's fine too." He interrupted her indifferently, gazing out at the flowing traffic and the dazzling lights. He coldly instructed Yao Yi Fan, "Find a place by the side of the road and let her out."

Song Xi was stunned.

The car slowly pulled over to the side of the road. Song Xi looked at the man's cold, sharp eyes and bit her lip in indignation.

Bang!

She slammed the door shut again, as if releasing her frustration.

Yao Yi Fan felt a pang of pity. "Sir, it might be difficult to get a taxi from here..."

"Drive."
