Only a few minutes had passed, and it was already the fourth man approaching her.
She truly was captivating.
Lou Yuming clenched his wine glass silently.
This latest man had been talking for a long time. From his back, she couldn't tell which young master he was.
But Song Xi seemed to hit it off with him, her every move, every glance, every smile more engaging than with the previous men.
She seemed oblivious to how many men were staring at her with fervent gazes as she acted.
Lou Yuming’s expression darkened, annoyance surfacing in his eyes.
Upstairs.
“Sister Xi!”
Ye Tian was worried. Qin Feng was a cunning individual, and he feared Song Xi might be at a disadvantage alone.
“Where are you going?” Seeing Ye Tian about to go downstairs, Ye Hai grabbed him.
“I’m going to help Sister Song Xi!”
“Who?”
Ye Hai frowned, curious. His younger brother, timid and cowardly since childhood, was the most unremarkable child in the Ye family. The only rebellious act he had ever committed was running away from home. This was the first time he had shown such concern for a woman.
“Sister Song Xi has been very kind to me. I can’t just stand by and do nothing. Second Brother, let go!”
“Stop!”
Ye Hai’s grip was strong. With a light tug, the physically weak Ye Tian spun like a top, nearly falling to his knees.
“Being reckless, what trouble could there be with so many people around!”
Ye Tian grew anxious, “Second Brother, the workplace is like a battlefield. A cunning and sinister person like Qin Feng might very well harm Sister Xi! You don’t understand!”
Having survived battles for over a decade, Ye Hai found himself speechless.
“Enough! Stand there. You’re not going anywhere!” Ye Hai commanded sternly.
Ye Tian blinked, “Second Brother, where are you going?”
“To rescue your Sister Xi.”
Ye Tian breathed a sigh of relief. With his second brother taking action, he was worth two people.
Still chatting?
Lou Yuming’s face was as cold as frost. Just as he was about to step forward, a man with a robust build beat him to it, walking towards Song Xi.
“Are you done talking? Why are you not only a green tea but also so talkative.”
Song Xi felt a headache coming on. Qin Feng had been rambling, but she hadn’t absorbed a single word. Instead, it had ruined her mood for enjoying her snacks.
Qin Feng’s face turned grim, “Song Xi, I’m giving you an opportunity. Otherwise, you’ll be like Ye Tian, always a nobody!”
Song Xi sneered, “What about Ye Tian? He’s diligent and works hard at acting. What about you? Stealing others’ songs is one thing, but then playing the victim on Weibo. Aren’t you ashamed?”
“That’s how the entertainment industry is. If he’s not happy, he can quit. No one is forcing him!”
Song Xi scoffed, “Shameless.”
Qin Feng was so enraged that he was about to make a move when a strong arm intervened, stopping him.
Qin Feng, a man well over six feet tall, struggled but couldn't break free. Instead, he was gripped with such ferocious force that his face turned purple, and he winced in pain.
“…Let go!”
Ye Hai coldly released him.
Qin Feng stumbled a couple of steps, feeling as if his wrist was about to break.
A wise man doesn't fight when the odds are against him.
Just then, Madam Yang called him. He shot a vicious glare at the man and Song Xi before quickly leaving.
Song Xi watched Qin Feng walk away with a fawning expression towards a voluptuous woman.
She was dumbfounded.
Could that be the rich woman Jin Ying mentioned?
She retracted her gaze with a sigh and noticed the man with the buzz cut hadn’t left.
She was slightly taken aback and politely, yet distantly, said, “Thank you.”
To her surprise, he remained motionless, blocking her path like a mountain.
Song Xi began to study him intently.
The man had an extraordinary aura, stood tall and upright, his resolute face exuding a commanding presence. His eyes held a natural wildness and coldness that inspired awe.
She instinctively felt he was a formidable figure and wanted to leave.
Unexpectedly, the man called out to her.
“Miss Song.”
Song Xi’s steps halted.
Ye Hai’s sharp gaze fixed on her, scrutinizing her from head to toe like a reconnaissance mission, missing not a single detail.
He had initially thought this woman was merely a pretty face, but she turned out to be sharp-tongued, entirely different from her outward appearance.
And she had spoken up for Xiao Tian.
Sister Song Xi?
It seemed their relationship was indeed quite close.
Song Xi’s expression faltered, “…Sir, do you know me?”
Ye Hai pursed his lips. His sword-like eyebrows and star-like eyes, coupled with his imposing aura, were striking.
Just then, melodious music began to fill the hall.
The dancing segment had started.
Ye Hai wanted to observe Song Xi further, so he extended his hand, his tone somewhat stern.
“Miss Song, are you interested in giving it a try?”
Song Xi was about to refuse when she saw Anna enter the dance floor hand-in-hand with Lou Yuming.
Their eyes met across the room. He looked at her with a hint of warning, his intention clear.
Song Xi’s rebellious spirit flared. If he could dance with Anna, why couldn’t she?
So, she smiled and extended her hand, “But I’m not very good. Please don’t mind, sir.”
“I’ll teach you.”
Ye Hai gracefully put his arm around her waist.
The woman’s delicate scent was somewhat jarring to him, who was accustomed to sweat and gunpowder. Yet, he didn’t dislike it; instead, he felt a peculiar sensation.
Seeing Song Xi holding hands with the man, Lou Yuming’s face instantly turned dark.
He stared coldly at Song Xi, as if trying to bore a hole through her.
