Chapter 1 A Fated Encounter in a Dream

Recently, I encountered a bizarre and strange occurrence.

Starting in June, every night, I would dream of the same girl.

Although the plot differed each time, every dream ended with intimate encounters with her.

After a month of such dreams, my body was severely depleted.

I felt I would wither away and die if this continued, so I subtly shared my troubles with my aunt.

My aunt took this matter very seriously. She is a doctor and said it was a male ailment, related to the continuation of the Wu family line. She took a week off work and flew to my city, dragging me to a urology hospital for treatment.

The doctor prescribed me some kidney-tonifying medication. My aunt, not entirely at ease, decided to stay and accompany me for a few days until I was completely recovered.

That very night, after taking the medicine, I dreamt of the girl again. She used all her allure to seduce me. I tried to resist, but in the end, I succumbed. Not only did I lose my virginity again, but I was also led by the girl to a soft and warm place where we made love several more times.

When I woke up the next morning, I was completely drained.

My aunt gave a helpless, wry smile, "You're like a silkworm that spins silk until death!"

She believed the treatment was on the wrong track. Leveraging her connections in the medical community, she contacted a local traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.

After hearing my description, the TCM doctor pondered for a moment and wrote an address on a piece of paper, telling us to find Mr. Sun.

Following the address, we found not a clinic, but a Taoist temple. Mr. Sun was not a doctor but an old Taoist priest. I recounted my dreams to him again. The priest listened and repeatedly waved his hands, saying he couldn't treat my illness, and even if he could, he wouldn't dare.

Unable to resist my aunt's persistent pleas, the priest reluctantly drew a yellow talisman for me. He instructed me to burn it to ashes, mix it with water, and drink it before sleeping at home to see if it worked.

Doesn't this sound a bit spooky?

Despite being a top graduate from a prestigious university, my aunt had absolute faith in such matters. That night, before I went to bed, she forced me to drink the strangely flavored talisman water.

My body was weak, and I couldn't resist sleep. Lying in bed, I quickly drifted off.

The girl, as expected, appeared. However, in this dream, there was a golden ring around me. When the girl tried to get close, she was "electrocuted" by the golden ring and couldn't reach me. After several attempts, the girl, frustrated by the shocks, cursed the old Taoist priest and disappeared.

The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed. My aunt breathed a sigh of relief, "It seems you're fine now. I'll head back then!"

Before leaving, my aunt visited the Taoist temple again to buy a case of Maotai as a thank you gift for the old priest. However, the priest refused to accept it, asking her to convey a message to me: If that girl comes to you again, remember, never believe anything she says.

"Auntie, did the priest say what that girl actually is?" I asked her on the phone.

"Uh..." My aunt hesitated, perhaps fearing she might alarm me. "He didn't say. Anyway, she's nothing formidable. Don't worry."

That night, as expected, I dreamt of the girl again. The golden ring was still there, and the girl still couldn't approach me. Not being able to get close meant no intimate contact.

I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. After all, we had been intimate so many times, and the girl was my ideal type in every way. It would be a lie to say I didn't like her.

The girl was in low spirits and left after saying only a few words.

The next day, and the day after, she visited my dreams, basically just to say hello and leave.

On the fourth night, the girl did not appear.

On the fifth night, as soon as I fell asleep, the girl arrived, crying and wailing. She sat outside my golden ring and told me about her tragic misfortune. She claimed she had been imprisoned in a cave for centuries and couldn't get out. She finally met me, someone whose destiny aligned with hers. If I could make love to her for forty-nine consecutive days, she could break the seal and escape. Unfortunately, that wretched Taoist priest had disrupted her plan.

In the dream, I couldn't remain entirely calm and felt a pang of guilt for her. I asked the girl, "Besides making love, are there any other ways I can help you?"

It wasn't that I didn't want to make love to her, but the golden ring prevented me from doing so.

I had been holding back for five days, and I longed to relive our past intimacy.

The girl said, "Unless you go to a place called 'Nine Immortal Cave' and find my remains..."

Even in the dream, the word "remains" made me tremble all over. I bravely asked her, "Are... are you human or a ghost?"

The girl didn't answer, continuing on her own, "Take my remains out of the cave and to a crematorium to be burned. Only then can I break the seal and enter the cycle of reincarnation."

"Burn them? You mean, follow the normal funeral process?" I asked again, a little scared, but not entirely. She looked harmless, delicate, and moving. I thought, even if she were a ghost, she wouldn't be a malevolent one.

The girl looked up, tears streaming down her face, and asked, "Brother Chengfeng, can you save me? Please!"

For some inexplicable reason, I agreed. I asked her for the address, and she, fearing I would forget, repeated it dozens of times.

Fengtian Prefecture, thirty li southeast of Fucheng, Wo Feng Gou Town, Nine Immortal Cave.

After waking up, I hesitated for a moment before calling my aunt to tell her about the matter.

My aunt sternly told me, "You are not allowed to go! Have you forgotten the Taoist priest's words? Don't believe anything she says!"

My parents passed away early, and my aunt raised me with great care. I was very obedient to her and assured her I wouldn't go.

However, shortly after hanging up the phone, the girl's voice echoed in my mind again: Brother Chengfeng, please, save me.

Go, or not go? The two thoughts were like a spinning coin in the air, never landing.

Two days passed in indecision. During these two days, the girl did not enter my dreams.

On the third day, a university classmate suddenly called, saying he was getting married that weekend and invited me to be his groomsman. He promised to cover food, accommodation, and travel expenses, and even introduce me to a beautiful bridesmaid.

Actually, during school, we were just classmates, not roommates, and our relationship wasn't that close. We hadn't been in contact after graduation. The reason he invited me to be a groomsman was mainly because most of our classmates were already married.

This friend's name was Song Lei, and he was from the Northeast.

"Northeast" was just one place for us Southerners. I asked him for the specific location. After he told me his address, I was a little bewildered.

Fengtian Prefecture, thirty li southeast of Fucheng, Wo Feng Gou Town?

It was the exact same address as the girl in my dream!
