Chapter 2 The Convergence

Cheng Hao rubbed her hands as he asked, "Do you still feel uncomfortable anywhere else?"

He put away his usual playful demeanor with Su Miaomiao, his serious look was quite imposing.

Seeing him, Su Miaomiao felt as if she had found her mother. After calming down, she honestly replied, "My head doesn't hurt anymore, and I can hear again. I just feel a bit weak all over."

After she spoke, she heard what sounded like commotion outside and was unsure what was happening.

Cheng Hao did not stop rubbing her hands. His palms were still warm as before, but his appearance had returned to that of his fifteen or sixteen-year-old self.

With a hint of youthful immaturity, he was dressed in a ceremonial topknot and a bright red wedding robe.

Su Miaomiao felt her heart flutter a little as she looked at him. Seeing that he was wearing the same outfit as her, she understood he was about to marry "her," and she instantly felt a bit delighted.

Once Cheng Hao was sure she was alright, he crouched down and took her hand, saying, "Listen to me. We've watched plenty of novels, right? To be precise, we've transmigrated to another fictional world, with the same names. It might even be our past lives. It's just that this world is not peaceful. This city is about to fall, and everyone is preparing to flee. We need to escape quickly, or it will be too late!"

Su Miaomiao blinked at his words and then said, "I haven't heard you talk so much in one go for a long time. Past lives, huh? Cheng Hao, you can't wait to be with me for all lifetimes, can you?"

She said this with a hint of smugness, completely unaware that her makeup was smudged.

Cheng Hao looked at the person in front of him, whose face was smeared with rouge and powder like a ghost, and felt both exasperated and amused. He gritted his teeth and said, "Su Miaomiao, is this really the time for that?"

As long as the person in front of her was there, Su Miaomiao felt invincible, as if she had armor. But she didn't say anything, instead asking, "Then how do we leave now?"

Cheng Hao couldn't be bothered to argue with her, accustomed to her carefree nature. He stood up and, as if by magic, produced a piece of chocolate from his hand. He unwrapped it and popped it into her mouth, then whispered, "Just stay put!"

Su Miaomiao was shocked for a second before obediently chewing the chocolate. It was fine-textured and incredibly sweet.

It was her usual brand. Although she didn't know how Cheng Hao managed to produce it, they had no secrets between them, so she wasn't worried at all.

Cheng Hao would always tell her. He was just not telling her now because the timing was not right.

Su Miaomiao sat there to recover her strength, watching Cheng Hao rummage through the cabinets and drawers in the ancient-style bridal chamber, taking everything he could carry. The items would disappear from his hands as if he were a magician, which made her feel a bit dejected.

As a young person from the twenty-first century who had read so many web novels, she couldn't possibly not know what this was. But she grumbled that Cheng Hao's body was adapting faster than hers, and on top of that, he even had a cheat ability. Why did she have nothing?

Su Miaomiao felt a sense of unease. She had always wanted to be his equal.

But now she was at a disadvantage.

Su Miaomiao unconsciously puffed out her cheeks, feeling quite a bit dejected.

Suddenly.

A set of clothes was swiftly and accurately thrown directly towards her.

Cheng Hao remembered that Su Miaomiao was not feeling well. He regretted his casual action.

He looked behind him worriedly and saw that she had already caught the clothes in her arms.

Su Miaomiao grinned at him carefree, just as silly as ever.

This person in front of her always looked so satisfied, as if everything was taken care of with him around. Did she really not know what expression she usually had towards him?

If she did, she would not be agonizing over the question of love.

Their love for each other was beyond words, beyond description.

It was something integrated into their very bones, their very lives, with no reason not to love.

And nothing could separate them.

Except death.

Of course, Cheng Hao couldn't fathom the feeling of losing Su Miaomiao again. That feeling was too terrible, a resistance emanating from the depths of his soul, making him unwilling to even contemplate how to live a life without her.

They had been together since birth. They were meant to be together forever and ever.

Their tacit understanding was always very strong. Often, she would understand what the other person meant just by looking at their eyes or their movements. Therefore, Su Miaomiao spontaneously began to change her clothes.

The bright red wedding dress was not suitable for fleeing.

Su Miaomiao understood.

But...

These ancient clothes were too difficult!

Her body had not yet fully recovered, and any slightly larger movement would exhaust her. Even changing clothes was a struggle, which made her frown.

She felt inexplicably panicked, with a fear of what would happen if she remained this feeble.

Su Miaomiao couldn't tolerate being a burden herself. If that were the case, she would rather not live, to avoid causing trouble for others. She thought anxiously.

Although Cheng Hao was scavenging for all usable items, he was also paying attention to Su Miaomiao. Seeing her pause halfway through changing, he quickly walked over to her. As if it were natural, he unfastened the half-undone wedding dress and revealed her unusual pale blue and white skin underneath.

Cheng Hao's gaze was solemn. His movements didn't stop, and he even frowned as he asked, "Is your body really alright? If there's something wrong, don't be stubborn and keep it to yourself!"

Su Miaomiao was already upset about her poor health. Seeing this, her expression soured, and she said in self-abandonment, "If you really can't, just abandon me..." The unspoken words caught in her throat.

The person in front of her had an overcast expression, clearly showing his extreme anger.

Cheng Hao took a deep breath to calm himself before saying in a cold tone, "Don't forget how I appeared here."

Although his words sounded cruel and heartless, his actions were always gentle.

Hearing this, Su Miaomiao's nose tingled, and she softly said, "I'm sorry, I was wrong."

Cheng Hao removed her top, revealing a bright red mandarin duck bodice underneath. He was now more worried about her abnormal skin color. He picked up an old piece of clothing nearby and held it open for her, saying, "I accept your apology, but there won't be a next time. Don't let me hear you say that again. Reach out and put on your clothes."

Su Miaomiao obediently put on the clothes this time, not daring to provoke him further, because she suddenly understood that he was also nervous and uneasy at this moment.

Cheng Hao was indeed uneasy.

He just didn't like to show it.

The situation here was unstable. After finally recovering for eleven years, it was once again in turmoil. War, no matter where, was a terrible thing.

Furthermore, Su Miaomiao lacked the memories of this body, which was different from his situation and also made him uneasy.

Cheng Hao simply chose to try his best to digest it and calmly look for solutions.

After helping Su Miaomiao change, he handed her another Snickers bar, also unwrapped, and gave it to her to eat, as considerate as ever.
