Chapter 661: 516 Approaching Malice
Nightfall came swiftly.
At this time, not only Moors wandered the wilderness but various kinds of wild beasts and magical creatures roamed as well, turning the nights of Fairy Country Britannia into perilous domains where ghosts and monsters ran amok.
At this point, even the fairies, naturally imbued with mystery, would not carelessly venture outside the city walls, with only the likes of the Tusk Clan, confident in their superior combat abilities, running around unrestrained.
Although Reiger and his companions were not ordinary members of the Tusk Clan, they also did not wish to wander about at this time.
They had no choice; the Chaldea group had only just woken up and were still suffering from memory loss. Even with the all-capable genius Da Vinci watching over them, it seemed rather forced to expect them to start taking action under such conditions.
"We still need to have a good talk with them, ah well, consider it as deepening our bonds."
Seeing that night had fallen and there was no response from the Chaldea side, Alberon decided to simply enter the cave to look for them and have a heart-to-heart.
Presumably, the Fairy King intended to use his silver tongue to gain the trust of the Chaldea group.
Altoria, upon seeing this, hesitated for a moment and decided not to follow.
"Aren’t you going?"
Reiger, curious, asked the question when he saw this.
He could tell that Altoria had developed a considerable interest in Chaldea.
After all, Fujimaru Ritsuka was the foreign magician mentioned in the prophecies of the Mirror Clan, and Matthew and the others were Servants who had come to save the history of humanity, not bad people by any measure.
Chaldea, the human resource preservation organization, was the protagonist faction in the original narrative, having saved the world and made many contributions to preserving human history, making them a rare find of good people with pure characters, moral integrity, and untainted hearts.
At least, they were leagues better than the extremely selfish fairies of Fairy Country Britannia.
For them, being rare treasures in the Fairy Country, and possibly just as naively kind-hearted as herself, Altoria found it interesting to encounter these foreign travelers.
Yet, unlike Alberon, she had not sought to contact them or build a relationship of trust, which Reiger found somewhat surprising.
While contemplating this, Reiger did not realize that Altoria was not unwilling but rather, she was hesitant.
Her first thought was not of anything else but that Knight of the Round Table, Tristan.
Thinking of that Knight of the Round Table and the memories of the King of Knights she had glimpsed in her dreams, Altoria eventually shook her head.
"No, it’s probably not a good idea for me to casually interact with those Knights of the Round Table."
These words from Altoria caused a stir in Reiger.
"Is it because of King Arthur?"
Reiger’s question was met with silence from Altoria.
Which served as a tacit acknowledgment.
Indeed, from the standpoint of King Arthur, her relationship with the Knights of the Round Table could only be described as delicate.
Admittedly, the Knights of the Round Table served King Arthur in life, revered her, and pledged their loyalty, but the reasons leading to the tragic end of Arthur’s life were not unrelated to these very knights.
Knight Lancelot had an affair with Arthur’s queen, and after the affair was exposed, he did not hesitate to go on a killing spree, slaying his own colleagues and fleeing with the queen, which led to discord among the Knights of the Round Table.
Knight Gawain harbored resentment towards Lancelot for killing his kin, and when Arthur was in trouble, Gawain obstructed Lancelot who came to assist, indirectly leading to Arthur’s death.
Then there was the infamous traitor among the Knights of the Round Table, Modred, who directly raised an army in rebellion, ending the reign of King Arthur and shattering the myth of Arthur’s invincibility.
In essence, each of these Knights of the Round Table were wholeheartedly loyal to King Arthur, cherished her, but due to various reasons either turned against Arthur or directly or indirectly led to her death, thereby weaving a tapestry of poignant tales of love, hate, grudges, and legendary stories.
The relationship between Knight Tristan and King Arthur was also complex.
He was undoubtedly loyal to King Arthur.
Yet, when King Arthur made decisions to protect Britannia that were unpopular with the public, he left the Round Table, leaving behind the words,
"The King does not understand the human heart."
This statement sowed seeds of discord among the Round Table and cast a shadow over the clear and reflective heart of King Arthur.
Altoria apparently empathized deeply with these memories, which made her wary of Tristan’s presence.
"It’s not really necessary," Reiger shook his head at Altoria and said, "After all, it’s an issue between King Arthur and him."
Implicitly, Altoria did not need to be concerned about the Knights of the Round Table from human history because of her counterpart’s matters.
Altoria understood this point, of course.
But... what would the other party think?
Would he see her as King Arthur?
At this thought, Altoria’s spirits dampened.
"Let’s leave it at that, we’ll talk after their memories return."
After saying this, Altoria ran off to adjust the nearby barriers.
