Chapter 679: 525 Colleagues from Chaldea
A while later, Reiger learned from Da Vinci about their current situation.
They had already left the area near the Nameless Forest and were traveling along the national road towards the port city of Norwich.
The carriages were arranged by Alberon contacting Aurora, who dispatched the Wind Clan for delivery. There were two carriages in total, one for the unconscious Reiger and the other for Fujimaru Ritsuka.
Reiger had Altoria and Alberon accompanying him. Altoria was in the carriage taking care of Reiger, while Alberon was driving the carriage and responsible for leading and scouting the way.
Accompanying Fujimaru Ritsuka were Matthew, Da Vinci, and Tristan, with Matthew driving the carriage and Tristan responsible for using his archery to clear the approaching wild animals and magic beasts from the roof of the carriage. Da Vinci was taking care of Fujimaru Ritsuka and would also occasionally check on Reiger, monitoring the physical condition of both.
The reason they were headed towards the port city of Norwich was primarily based on Alberon’s suggestion.
Alberon, based on the intelligence brought by the Wind Clan, had already learned about the queen’s faction’s movements.
In the southern region, the cities of Salisbury, Norwich, Gloucester, and Oxford were mostly unsuitable to visit at this time.
Gloucester was the territory of the Wings Clan’s chieftain, Mourine. Bawan Xi and Beryl had previously led troops there and, later, to besiege them, so it was unknown where Mourine stood now. Given Reiger and Fujimaru Ritsuka’s current conditions, it was certainly not appropriate to go there.
Oxford was even less likely, as the stronghold of the queen’s staunch supporters, the Tusk Clan, and Woodworth’s territory, so nothing good could come from going there.
Salisbury was quite safe, but Reiger and others had just left there. Returning immediately could raise suspicions among the queen’s faction.
Aurora had decided to overthrow the queen, and it was best to keep this secret for the time being; otherwise, the queen would surely send troops to attack Salisbury. If the Wind Clan were harmed, they would lose a powerful ally.
Therefore, after much deliberation, Alberon decided to temporarily avoid Salisbury.
Thus, their only option was to head towards the port city of Norwich.
Firstly, Aurora had already discussed privately with the lord of Norwich, Spurgen, and secured an opportunity to enter the Pilgrimage Bell.
Secondly, a "Calamity" was occurring there, and it seemed the queen had already given up on the area and had not dispatched anyone there.
Thus, heading to Norwich now would undoubtedly avoid pursuit by the queen’s faction and gain the assistance of the local lord, allowing them to hide.
That was why Alberon made the decisive proposal, encouraging everyone to head towards the port city of Norwich.
"I see."
Reiger nodded, expressing his understanding of the current situation.
However...
"Has the Master of Chaldea not awakened yet?"
Reiger cautiously asked Da Vinci.
"No," Da Vinci shook his head and said, "His body is too weak, and he does not have the extraordinary recovery ability that you do, so even after a night, there are still no signs of him awakening."
That was unavoidable.
Resurrection Magic inherently consumed the life force of the deceased. If the life force of the deceased was insufficient, they might not even be resurrected.
Lower-level Resurrection Magic failed to revive lower-level individuals because such individuals did not possess strong life forces, unable to endure the consumption.
Reiger used the highest level of Resurrection Magic. Even low-level ordinary people could be successfully resurrected, but the damage to life force was inevitable.
Fujimaru Ritsuka, as the Master of Chaldea and although a magician, was not a particularly powerful being. His body still fell within the average human range. It was quite remarkable that he was revived successfully, but the considerable drain on his life force leading to weakness was inevitable. Without proper rest for some time, it was unlikely he could get up.
"So, does this mean that you are in charge of making decisions now?"
Reiger looked towards Da Vinci.
If the Master of Chaldea had been awake, Fujimaru Ritsuka would naturally be responsible for making various decisions.
But with Fujimaru Ritsuka currently unconscious, the responsibility undoubtedly fell to this exceedingly intelligent genius.
Chaldea was still with them, preparing to head to Norwich together, likely also a decision made by Da Vinci.
As expected...
"The Master has not yet awoken, and we still lack sufficient understanding of Fairy Country Britannia. Having the assistance of local people would naturally be beneficial for us."
Da Vinci explained.
"Moreover, after last night’s battle, we can now confirm that you are indeed our allies."
Previously, Da Vinci could not ascertain whether Reiger and his group were truly allies, which is why he chose to wait and observe.
Now, since Reiger and his group had clashed with the queen’s faction and stood opposite to both Bawan Xi and Beryl, the enemy of an enemy was naturally a friend, an ally.
Further, with Alberon mediating, Da Vinci had begun to trust Reiger and his group.
After all, Alberon was not a native of Fairy Country Britannia but a Servant from pan-human history, summoned like Tristan to prevent the expansion of Britannia’s anomalies.
Since he was a Servant from pan-human history, he was undoubtedly on the same side as Chaldea.
Based on such a judgment, Da Vinci finally let down his guard and decided to act together with Reiger and the others.
"So you should be well aware of our situation by now, right?"
Reiger cut to the chase and said this.
"I suppose so." Da Vinci nodded while glancing at Altoria, who was napping beside him, and said, "In Fairy Country Britannia, there are six major fairy clans, among which the Mirror Clan had made a prophecy sixteen years ago. They claimed that a savior would appear today, sixteen years later, to overthrow Morgan, the false king, and crown the true king."
"You are now assisting the prophesied child, preparing to ring the six Pilgrimage Bells managed by the six clans."
"And the false king Morgan is the main culprit behind the anomalous expansion of the Britannia Singularity, leading to the imminent collapse of human history, right?"
Da Vinci simplistically explained all this and then made a gesture.
"This aligns with our goal as well."
The reason Chaldea had come to the Britannia Singularity was to clearly investigate the source of the collapse and prevent the extinction of human history.
Since the source of the collapse was due to Morgan’s ambition, Chaldea’s goal was also clear: to stop Morgan, or even to overthrow Morgan.
This indeed matched the aims of Reiger and his group.
At least, Da Vinci felt that rather than fighting against the Queen’s faction alone, it would be better to cooperate with Reiger and his group.
If the prophecy of the Mirror Clan holds true, then the hope to overthrow Morgan might well rest upon Altoria.
Having understood this, it wasn’t difficult for Chaldea to decide and choose their next actions.
"Matthew also thinks you are trustworthy, especially you," Da Vinci said, eyeing Reiger with a mischievous smile reminiscent of a little girl playing a prank.
"Did something happen? It always feels like that child holds you in some inexpressible high regard," he said.
Upon hearing this, Reiger pursed his lips and did not answer that question.
Rather than that, he was more concerned about another matter.
"Have all of you regained your memories?"
Reiger asked, sounding perplexed.
"I never lost my memory," Da Vinci calmly admitted and said, "Matthew and Tristan also regained their memories last night."
It wasn’t hard to tell.
After Fujimaru Ritsuka was directly killed by a sneak attack from Beryl, Matthew and Tristan were clearly stimulated, and their memories subsequently restored.
Thus, when they saw Beryl and Spurgen, the people of Chaldea recognized them.
"The Master’s memory must have been restored as well, which is a good thing," Da Vinci voiced happily.
"Despite many issues, we’re finally on the right track now," he said.
Indeed, the mission of Chaldea this time had been quite unfortunate.
They had just landed and were immediately attacked by a pack of Moors.
The landing site was also unfortunate; it was nowhere other than the Nameless Forest, causing everyone except Da Vinci to lose their memories.
After losing their memories and before they could understand the situation, due to Reiger and others, they directly encountered attacks from Elf Knights, fairy soldiers, and even embryonic embodiments of human evil. Most importantly, their Master was nearly killed and barely made it back.
If these weren’t considered misfortune, what could be?
Fortunately, after many twists and turns, Chaldea finally made it safely and soundly onto the right track. The whole team unscathed, stepped onto the land of Fairy Country Britannia and received assistance from the locals and gathered much information.
Once Fujimaru Ritsuka woke up, they no longer had any concerns on their part.
The only thing left that Da Vinci found concerning was Reiger’s identity.
Among those Reiger traveled with, Altoria was a fairy from paradise, the appointed savior; Alberon was a servant from human history, their ally; only Reiger’s origins were unclear.
According to Alberon, Reiger was neither from human history nor from Fairy Country Britannia, nor was he a fairy or servant. He was merely a human but possessed power that could rival top-tier servants and high-ranking fairies, capable of contending with embryonic embodiments of human evil.
It was abnormal for a human to be so powerful.
Not to mention, this human also wielded a Holy Lance, holding Lengominia.
Remembering the matter of the Holy Lance, Da Vinci couldn’t help but glance at Reiger.
Part of the reason Chaldea had come to Fairy Country Britannia was also for the Holy Lance.
