Chapter 563: 479 Furious! Furious!

"————!"

Amidst another tremor in Salisbury, a crimson wave erupted like a razor capable of shaving away the world, completely erasing a portion of the city known for its leisurely ambiance.

Reiger had unleashed his Disintegration Magic with all his might, blasting Woodworth’s hellhound out of the crater and causing entire city districts to dissipate wherever the crimson wave passed.

Disintegration Magic, capable of breaking down all matter in the world, even Magic itself: this was the only attack Reiger could think of that might be effective against Woodworth’s hellhound.

If his Disintegration Magic could break through its protective layer, then Woodworth would undoubtedly be defeated.

Conversely, if his Disintegration Magic couldn’t deal with Woodworth’s protection, then Reiger indeed had no way to penetrate Woodworth’s defenses and inflict harm at the current stage.

So, this was a gamble, as well as an attempt.

Reiger could only do so much.

However, his actions immediately provoked the two Elf Knights present.

"Boom!"

A roaring noise erupted from the crater.

It was the strike of a fiery blade crashing down onto the spot where Reiger stood, causing a commotion.

Knight Gawain, seeing Woodworth blasted away by Reiger’s Disintegration Magic, had decisively acted in that instant. Holding a greatsword enveloped in flames, he was like a silent, fanged beast that had struck with his Sword of the Sun, shattering the ground where Reiger once stood.

Reiger, too, was blasted apart.

No, more accurately, what was blasted apart was a mere flickering afterimage in the heat haze.

"Mirage Rainbow!"

Reiger’s figure suddenly flashed to the nearest position to Gawain, with a similarly flame-wrapped weapon in hand, slicing toward the robust Elf Knight.

This strike came from a blind spot. Perhaps a mobile and agile character like Lancelot could react in time and dodge, but given Gawain’s build and his previous wide and sweeping attacks, Reiger thought he likely differed from Lancelot—a warrior of strength rather than agility.

The probability of Gawain evading this blindsided strike was undoubtedly low.

At least, that was the split-second judgement Reiger made.

But in reality, it was proven that even if Gawain couldn’t dodge Reiger’s attack, he wouldn’t be taken down so easily.

"Clatter!"

There, standing in place, the Elf Knight simply gestured with his free arm, and the chains wrapped around his stout limb came to life, sparking a series of metallic friction sounds as they became agile iron serpents confronting Reiger’s flame-entwined slash.

"Thud!"

In the muffled impact, the flame blade and steel chains collided like needlepoint against wheat awn, kicking up a whirlwind and shockwave.

The whirlwind and shockwave shoved Reiger and Gawain apart, widening the gap between them.

"Come forth! My hounds!"

Gawain seemed unwilling to converse much with Reiger, or perhaps he intended to complete his mission before dealing with other matters; he raised his greatsword and shouted.

"Awoo!"

"Awoo!"

Following Gawain’s call, a series of howls that were like wolves yet not echoed in the distance, as dark shadows rushed toward their location.

The shadows were slinky black hounds with lithe bodies and entirely jet-black coats marked with blue patterns, as eerie as Gawain’s chain-wrapped arms and pointed horns upon his head.

Gawain had summoned a pack of these black hounds and directed them to pounce toward Reiger.

"A test of summons, then?" Reiger narrowed his eyes and said, "Bring it on."

Uttering this, Reiger activated his Summoning Magic.

"[Tenth Tier Monster Summoning]."

A massive magical Array immediately appeared in front of Reiger, spinning as it expanded outward.

"Roar!"

"Roar!"

The next moment, hounds far larger than those Gawain summoned, each with three heads and spewing flames from their mouths, emerged from the magical Array.

They were, unmistakably, the level 64-70 magical beasts—the Hell Three-headed Dogs—that Shalltear Bloodfallen had once summoned before Reiger.

"What?"

Upon witnessing this, the ever-calm Gawain couldn’t help but express his surprise.

"Roar!"

"Roar!"

The colossal Hell Three-headed Dogs, undeterred by Gawain’s astonishment, lunged at the oncoming black hounds. The demonic hounds from hell and the elvish-enslaved black hounds clashed fiercely, roaring and unleashing flames as they bit each other to shreds, turning the crater into a diabolic battlefield.

Amidst the chaos, Reiger seized the opportunity to extend his hand towards Gawain’s direction, causing the magical Array to spin into existence before his palm.

Just as Reiger was about to unleash an attack spell on Gawain, a sound of cleaving air came from above his head.

"Clang!"

A white meteor descended from the sky, its Sword of Light striking down on the hastily raised black sword of Reiger, creating a crisp clashing sound and, with the force unleashed, pressing Reiger’s feet deep into the ground, shattering the earth beneath him.

"Don’t forget, I too can still fight," enunciated a blood-covered Elf Knight Lancelot, speaking coldly from above Reiger.
